Blackdrag-rose

Perfection? I don't want that, because that would mean stopping, standing still, instead of improving.

T

Amaryllis, an infiltrator for Chrysalis' hive, searches Canterlot for her missing queen, but during her nightly visit to the city she is forced to flee and heads into the Everfree Forest, where she finds an unusual cave, one that ends up changing her fate and knocks her out in process. When she wakes up she finds herself in an unknown world, in a snowy land that rests at the northern end of the continent, in a body that isn't what she's used to having. From there she must relearn the skills of an infiltrator, discover how the people of this new world interact with each other, and either figure out how to get back to her home world, or get used to living in her new environment and killing people to make some gold.

the description of Amaryllis is quite interesting, given the name of the story i wonder how she will fare here on the world of Tamriel.

An interesting beginning. So I thought there was going to be two of them in this story. Is one already here or did that plan change?

10887215 The other changeling is somewhere in Skyrim, but for now she isn't important. She'll show up when the time is right, so for now we'll be focusing on Amaryllis and her journey.

hmmm the description of that captured khajit... methinks Amaryllis just missed out on meeting the dragonborn

hmmmn, Imperial, part of the Legion, specializing in dagger and bow...being a Changeling, most likely a 'Stealth Build' character, and i suspect focusing on thief skills...20/40/50 id say, Magica is less important to such a build, but enough Health to stay alive and Stamina to carry a fair bit of loot...

And theres that famous changeling logic at work eh. Have no need for love, these people are absolutely hostile, lets kill them all yay. Its downright scary how quickly a ling can logic something out when alone (look at thorax for example in canon)

I wonder how long until she starts to take everything that isn’t nailed down, and if it can be brought up by a crowbar it wasn’t nailed down. I hope she does inadvertently learn some of the words of power.

Damn Amaryllis is downright methodical now also another missed meeting with the dragonborn it seems given the situational clues surrounding that Kahjit, mainly being her entering the smithy with an imperial followed by the nord smith, which for anyone who has played skyrim knows only happens when the dragonborn shows up in riverwood. Given her skills though I have a feeling Amaryllis will be going the dark brotherhood route instead of the thiefs guild as it seems like most are expecting, but she is just too good at killing to be a mere thief.

Well that was informative. Amaryllis meets the dragonborne finally and even helps her to get into whiterun. Takes on a quest for an npc and even decides to be a kitty for abit. looking forward to the next chapter

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I can only imagine Meridia's face when Amaryllis turned down her quest

10906313
i suspect that our little Changleing will find herself returning it anyway...sooner or later...

Is that the mission where you can get the weapon Dawnstar

10906530 Dawnbreaker, actually, but yes, that's the quest in question.

10906393
did you not see the part where she sold it to belethor...?

10907408
yes, but were talking about one of the Deadric Princes here, they tend not to like it when they r defied, and the items belonging to the Princes often have a will of their own. i fear that Dawnbreaker WILL find its way into the hands of Amaryllis, regardless of her say in the matter. voth fin vod do pogaas tiid, vahzah, but it will happen...

and dear little Amaryllis will quickly find out just what kind of city Riften is, just how 'kind' her target, and meet the Dark Brotherhood. funny think when u want to speak to the Brotherhood, u dont find them, they find u...

10907542
maybe but with how the author is making his displaced in this series. I have a feeling the gods will be bowing before the bug before the end of this story. Would fit with the nearly godly progression of powers in the stories so far (looking at you Spits and Dash)

Seems i was right about Amaryllis being an assassin bug it just fit nicely with the skill set you gave her.

As the title says the Bug has truly lost her innocence now as that is her first, out of combat, kill. A true murder in every sense of the word no matter how deserving the recipient is. Looking forward to the next chapter

10913780
not really a murder, ask anyone in Riften and they all say the same thing about Grelod...if anything, killing the old bitch was a civil service, one that even Maven Blackbriar would approve of...

10913780
also, the name of the chapter probably came from the name of the quest, given by the Arentino boy, 'Innocence Lost'

10913947
regardless of how it is seen by other, morally it is still a murder as Grelod was both unarmed and non hostile to the bug. Any court on earth would judge it as such and i bet it would be the same for tamriel

10915038
sadly no, the 'court' u speak of would be the Jarls court, and they rule their holds largely by decree, which is more or less based around their whims...and Lawgiver is one of the worst in that department as shes not really in control of her own Hold. Riften and the rest of the Rift belongs to Maven, and nobody else. i cant see her giving a damn about an orphanage coming under new management due to someone offing the previous one in charge since it wont impact her business in the slightest, and shes done far worse for less provocation...

So, instead of sending the 'We Know' note, Astrid decided to just grab the one who stole her contract herself.

Next stop: Abandoned Shack in the swamp between Solitude and Morthal.

despite anything else you cannot fault changeling efficiency and for \astrid, to use an overworked phrase, just found her gold egg laying goose in Amaryllis. An assassin that can become ANYONE can get to any target no matter what and even have the blame laid upon the feet of anyone the contract requires it to be simply by being seen in that form leaving after the assassination. Need a Jarl deposed, have them seen killing a dozen or so people. Need a guard disgraced. have them caught stealing from a jarl etc etc etc

Honestly I partly expect her to turn in to a queen at somepoint

Amaryllis and her new family. I like it

Hopefully she will stay safe with her new family. This is not always a safe universe after all.

having only done the brotherhood questline once or twice and having never really gotten to know the characters this was great. Also the Dragonborn has been called. Wonder if the bug will end up running into a dragon during her travels between targets.

She wasn't sure what was going on in Skyrim, what with the dragons and the summoning of the Dragonborn, whoever that was, but she was absolutely sure that it had nothing to do with her and that she would never cross paths with the one who had been chosen to fulfill some great prophecy or something like that, so she focused on her current mission and wondered what other dangers the road had in store for her.

Little does she know. I feel sorry for her she has no clue just how far down that rabbit hole she will be drug. Hopefully by the time she realizes it it will be far too late for her to turn about and go the other way.

more than likely, one of the games Random Encounters after Dragon Rising is complete is a roving Dragon, one that either attacks or just flies around

In my current playing of Skyrim, I am on purpose not going to Bleak Falls Barrow, simply to keep the dragons asleep longer. I have enough problems with Vampires killing merchants. Good thing I purchased horse from Whiterun when I did. When I left Whiterun, the horse seller had been killed by two Death Hounds. I hadn't even fast traveled, and had only just hit lvl 10.

10925932 Dang, I'm sorry to hear that. The vampires and their death hounds are definitely a problem, especially when they attack the cities and kill the merchants.

the Razor huh. Any true dagger build in Skyrim WANTS this weapon as their main. Even I go out of my way to make it my secondary for bow users. Me feels that the bug is gunna keep this one.

10928836
considering how annoying the guy is before u kill him to get Dagons favour? yeah, shes gonna want it...if for no other reason than its an assassins wet dream...

A good night's rest in Dawnstar pre quest for Skull of Corruption, yeah right.

10929142 Actually, some of the people in Dawnstar report that the nightmares only effect those who call Dawnstar home, while visitors aren't bothered by the nightmares at all.

10929174 Perfectly fine. Even I forget certain things about the game from time to time... like I have no idea who says that line, but I do know that someone in Dawnstar says it.

10929187
I think it might have been that priest who gives you the quest. Or at least someone from the inn.

10929222 Yeah, Erandur might have said it, given his knowledge on the matter.

ok, something is very wrong here, ive been playing a run of Skyrim in parallel with this story, and there is no way that Pieces of the Past should be active now...even doing a few things and quests that arnt in story, the best i managed by the time i got to Dawnstar was Lvl 17, Pieces of the Past requires the PC to be at least Lvl 20...

10929291 One thing you have to remember is that this isn't the game. Yes, in game it requires you to be Lv 20 for the quest to become active, but in a story we don't have to follow those restrictions, which is also why Amaryllis found Meridia's Beacon, which requires you to be Lv 12 before the beacon drops.

10929332
eh, thats fair. on a slightly related note, what would Amaryllis stat spread be like? i'm working on a 2/3/5 spread myself. 2 Magicka, 3 Health, 5 Stamina. standard Archery build really, but it works...

10929368 I'm not really following any particular stat spread, but that sounds like a good spread to me.

Ahhh the guards of skyrim lol never around when you want them but always around and getting in the way when you dont lol. Also loved Amaryllis reaction to hearing about the haunted house quest "oh this sounds important, but I have places to be and people to kill so ima ignore it right now" bloody priceless. Also I have noticed Amaryllis keeps getting really lucky with the wildlife, wonder if Hircine is interested in her. Oh my... Narfil.... I have only done his quest once (not assassinating him but his personal quest) where you find his sisters/cousins/family members remains and can either tell him they are dead or lie. his Quest is one of the few that actually makes my heart twinge.

10931992
i actually make a point of doing Narfi's personal quest every playthrough, the Alchemy reagents u can get out of it are not something to scoff at, as theres a chance at getting a Daedra's Heart out of it. those things are not easy to come by...

10934421
both, depending on the character and their playstyle

This story is interesting, but the sentences run on for too long. Some of the descriptions are too repetitive, repeating the same information over and over. The paragraphs are too long - more breaks between would help - and are hard to follow.

The main character sounds like a Mary Sue - Unique coloring is great and all, but we’ve never heard of a changeling having two toned chitin or eyes. That’s not to say that changelings can’t have unique designs; Pharynx had a unique design. Also, unique eyes does not signify a destiny for greatness - there was no other context to that scene. Perhaps a mention of a legend regarding changelings of a certain color would clear up why the queen would think that.

All-in-all, a fascinating concept, but it’s flaws make it hard to read.
