Good story, my only concern is that you put this story into first-person format while having the second person tag added. Not a major problem, mind you, it's just my inner stickler for perfection.

My dad managed to beat the cancer, only to have an immune system so compromised by chemo that pneumonia. I know the pain you have, to watch the strongest guy you know, whither away. I will never forget my father, just as I am sure you will never forget yours, so let's keep those memories alive and make dad proud.
