It wasn't something I really expected to write, either, honestly. The idea hit me one night and, since I've been having trouble writing for Aetherium, I decided to try it out. I wrote 2,500 words for it before taking a break, then wrote the rest of it a couple days later. I have plans for at least one other chapter, with a possible second, though there's no time frame for it. I'm not going to reveal anything about the future chapters, though.

Celestia has absolutely no idea what they are or how they work. She's assuming that they are constructs created by somepony and then forgotten about, and constructs usually have some activation phrase or spell and various failsafes. She's trying to rationalize what happened rather than accept that their are sentient crystal tentacles under Canterlot.
