Hidden Goddess

Fluttershy sat on the big green couch of her cottage home, smiling as she sipped her tea, watching the sun set off in the distance.

As she stared at the dimming ball of fire, slowly sinking behind the horizon, her mind drifted off along with it, and she began to think.

"Ah, what a wonderful sunset. It has been so long since i have had the time to simply lie back and enjoy nature in all of it's splendor."

"My friends and I do possess exhausting work, I suppose, fighting off monsters and such. But it is for the good of Equestria after all, and I must do all I can to protect the world I created."

"Oh, it seems I let that little detail slip out. Well then, since the cat's out of the bag so to speak, allow me to explain."

"I...am a goddess."

"Yes, you did hear that right, and I assure you it is the honest truth, as Apple Jack would say."

"I have been down in the mortal world for over 15,000 years now, journeying through the lands and seeing my children grow and advance in intelligence and ingenuity. To them, civilization began a long time ago. To me, it is like it was only yesterday."

"From the discovery of fire to the wheel to the beginning of the nomadic lifestyle of the first animals, I have been there for it all."

"I have been worshiped by my people for the last 5,000 years. They have called me things like Gaia, Mother Earth or Mother Nature. Now however, the religion founded by my children is only practiced by the few native ponies that are left in the world, as well as some zebra tribes."

"Speaking of zebras, Zecora's arrival was a bit of a...surprise...for me. I believed her to be a follower of the old religion, and, while this was indeed the case, something about me must have tipped her off to my intentions, for she kept my identity a secret."

"This didn't keep her from pulling me to the side and bowing and scraping before me. I didn't mind ponies doing this, but I wasn't one to bask in my own glory either. I suppose my shy facade carried a bit of truth to it after all."

"My friends have no idea of my true identity, and I plan to keep it that way. If they found out who I was, they would all treat me like a goddess instead of a friend, and I don't want that. I left heaven to make friends after all."

"Believe it or not, the life of an all powerful deity can get a little...boring. I actually welcome the chance to use the elements of harmony to fight monsters and save the world every now and then."

"Thankfully, I had discord to help me. I asked him to send a catastrophe my way every now and then to spice things up, and he agreed. I've known him since he was a child and he was always such a troublemaker. I had to care for him on several occasions back in heaven. Faust would always send him off to me when she couldn't handle him."

"Celestia making us the elements of harmony was not something I'd expected. It had to be the single most amazing moment of my immortal life! I had a sneaking suspicion that Discord was behind that as well, the sly dog...goat...snake...thing."

"When we got assigned our roles as deities, we had to separate, and so we rarely got to see each other. He lived in the chaos dimension, and I lived in Elysium with Faust and the other deities."

"I decided to go to the mortal world some 2000 years after my assignment started because i wanted to experience what it was like to be mortal. To feel the things that they felt. Love, happiness, joy, grief, sadness, anger. I wanted it all."

"I eventually got my wish as well, when discord came by, causing trouble once again, the big idiot."

"But, when I saw him, he was so different from when I had last seen him all those years ago. He had changed his form into some strange mix match of all these different creatures and it all looked so unusual that I almost couldn't recognize him."

"But when I did, I knew immediately that I had to stop him. When I finally managed to get some time alone with him after talking him out of his playful mood, he admitted to not recognizing me either. he said I felt so much like a mortal that he thought i'd lost my divinity."

"It was at this point that we knew we had much to catch up on. From that day forward, we spent our days chatting away over tea in my cottage. Turns out, he finally got the angel's postal service to deliver to his dimension!"

"On the days we couldn't get together, we exchanged letters back and forth. I remember being so excited every time his letters would arrive in the mail, that I literally did a loop in the air whenever I saw the postal pony coming."

"It was so much fun talking with and being around him after so long that I guess it was only natural that we eventually fell in love."

"I couldn't imagine being with anyone else but him and he couldn't imagine immortality without me. It was like a match made in heaven. Literally! We spent as much time together as we could, talking about old times, having tea, sending letters, etc."

"Of course, I never neglected my friends. I tried to include him in some of the things we did, but Twilight and the others...never got around what he did back in Ponyville."

"I suppose I can understand, seeing as he did warp their minds and all. Strange, he only ever used it on me when I needed to relax, and never to that degree. I asked him about it, and he said it was because he wanted to get revenge on the princesses for banishing him when he first tried to have fun in the mortal world."

"He said he spent three thousand year looking for me, but could never find me, so he went off on his own to have some fun, and then, they showed up, and suddenly he was encased in stone."

"Needless to say that Luna, Celestia and I had a long, in depth discussion about jumping to conclusions. It wasn't my proudest moment. It made me so sad to see them sad, but they had to learn that not everything with powers is a threat."

"Not that I can say much about his warping of my friends minds of course, seeing as I got warped, too. He told me he only did it to see how I would act if I was mean, but, I don't know."

"Needless to say, he apologized, and now everything is back to normal. Well, as normal as it can be with discord as your husband."

HMm so we got secret princess of the sky Rainbow from the previous story and secret greater goddess Fluttershy in this story sort of makes you wonder about the others.

Pinkie Pie as Discord's long-lost niece. It's my head-canon that she's Cloudy's daughter and Cloudy is a draconequus who found a way to keep enough chaos in her life to stay alive, but not so much that anyone would ever know what she really is. That being said, her chaos used to be "go somewhere, do something random but harmless, then leave" now her chaos is simply what's the most chaotic thing in every parents' life. Their children. Her children are enough chaos to keep her going without the need to do something ridiculous like Discord needs to.

Fluttershy as a goddess is so perfect. She's the ONLY one who can tolerate and even love Discord, not to mention she's the only one who outright fought against his mental manipulation and had to be FORCED into jerkish-ness.
