Epic Foreshadowing, nice.

I would love for this story to continue, you've set a great many questions before me that need to be answered though. Where's Spike (and everything else about him, I really like Spike)? Why are Twilight/Cadence killing dragons (what about Spike?)? Why didn't Luna take over by herself (though I would guess because of suspicions surrounding Celestia's disappearence)? Why isn't Shining Armor King and/or ruling in Canterlot? Why did the two gaurds not recognize Luna (I assume she took off her hood to glare at them)? What's happened to the Mane Six and why weren't the EoH with them? How could the Changelings be a threat if Cadence and Shining Armor took care of them with one shield spell? Why are the Griffins hostile at all, was Gilda their secret Princess or something (if you put that in your story I'll punch you in the schnoz)?

Sometimes it's hard to find a good adventure story in this fandom, you sir might be able to supply a good adventure story. Also i'm assuming rainbow comes in later, maybe as a mercenary?

Shining Armor is "Prince" only by name.Same with Blueblood (who by the way,should be the one becoming King if the monarchy is Equestria is the same as ours,not Shining)

Discord was once ruler of Equestria before being turned into stone by Celestia and Luna, he would have been a King. Shining Armor never had the title of "Prince", he was captain of the royal gaurd and Twilight's older brother. Then he married Princess Cadence, which would make her a Queen and him a King, not a Prince.

But remember that things work different in the show.

That's Right,Shining is not from any royal lineage before marrying Cadence.

However (And I hope you don't mind a bit of a spoilery information),Cadence in the 3rd season still goes by the title of Princess.And it seems there's no signs she's going to change her title.As for Shining Armor,who knows if he's going to use his new title or keep using his Captain Of The Royal Guard,but he would be a Prince,not a King.

As for Discord,from what we know from the show,he was just an individual who barged in,and assumed the control of the Kingdom,nobody chose him.And years before him becoming "King" the Unicorns were being ruled by Princess Platinum.

Anyway,what I'm trying to say,is that Equestria is a Principality.In this case the Princesses are the ones taking the role of the Kings and Queens and are the ones who hold the power over the kingdom.All while having certain other aspects from other kinds of government,like having Mayors in the cities and towns,etc.

Thanks for picking up that error.

Just to answer a few of your questions.
- Shining Armor's not king because Equestria appears to be a matriarchy, or still holds that tradition with then role of queen. Plus, Cadence is an alicorn.
- Luna didn't take off her hood. I thought the long description of it covering her entirely made that clear, but maybe I need to add an extra line stating he pulled it in tighter.
