Yeah, um, I realized this comes a little late for Halloween.

Anyway. Story!

Expect weekly updates.

Uh....... complete?

It's good. I'm just happy to see a Slasher story on the site. Most horror stories are ghost stories or just plain monster stories. Hardly see slasher stories aside from a Murder Mystery. This has my utmost interest and dedicated viewing.

> Uranus is in a perfect position to be watched from Canterlot.

Well I hope they enjoy the show :trixieshiftright:

...... the tension is getting high yet I'm hoping the blood bath comes soon.

Will this story have a happy ending?

8614443
Patience, young padawan :ajsmug: (but it'll get to the point much sooner than, say, a Stephen King story :raritywink: )

8614718
I'd rather not give spoilers :twilightsheepish: If you really need to know (as in, won't read certain endings), I can send you a PM. Just ping me if you want that.

8615690
Yeah I have to agree. Love King's books but uh.... they take a while to get to the bloody bits.

..... WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE A CANNIBAL?!

8622770
why would you want it to be anything else? its a good cliche'

8624061
I get sick from cannibalism. Texas Chainsaw Massacre was always a BIG nope from me.

8622770
Oh dear, I do hope I haven't lost you here :fluttershysad:

8624434
No no no.... just.... please avoid details on the killer eating folks.

8624437
Worry not (at least not too much, there's still a killer on the prowl)

8624450
I meant don't SHOW HIM eating folks.

I'm having fun reading this.
It's just like a slasher film.

A great story, well done:)

I see that casual mention of a jailbreak. I wasn't entirely sure what subgenre of horror it was going to be, but it looks like this'll wind up being a slasher fic. And if that's the event, I wonder how many deaths there'll be, and if magical friendship lasers can undo some of the damage that's going to be wrought. I also see the Trixie tag, which makes it obvious she'll show up soon.

Though this is certainly post-friendship lasered Sunset, and she's still on the road to redemption, Sunset sounds a little...apathetic about everything, really. I mean, she was a student of Princess Celestia. I would imagine her to at least have some interest in learning stuff, even if it's not something she can use to control others and be an alpha bitch at the moment. Instead, she's still quite mentally arrogant.

At least this Sunset knows there was a Princess Luna who has since returned, so it's a little interesting to see her thoughts on the dichotomy between VP and Princess Luna.

Plumbing actually can create pretty loud noises. It's called water hammer. If it's a school, it'll be big enough that it has its own boiler system and pumps that have to pump at a decent pressure to go up several floors.. If the average floor is about 3 meters and a school has three floors, and the water has to go up 2.5 floors, 7.5 meters requires nearly 75kPa, or about 10.5psi of discharge pressure from a pump on the ground floor just to push it up high enough. Then you need more pressure to push it through all the water lines in the school, as well as water pressure to keep the line pressurised whenever you have multiple people using faucets or flushing. The mere act of shutting off a valve with line pressure of 20 or 30psi behind it can easily create a large rattle. Not quite like the rattle of chains, but close in noise.

The more you know :trixieshiftright:

Still, they're high school students so unless one of them was a plumber or a stationary engineer, they wouldn't know that.

I see we're getting a couple of antagonistic characters who the reader won't be sorry to see go, but will definitely freak the characters out if they get offed.

On that note, the 'YOU ALL LOOK SO TASTY' message...somehow, I think that's not something the decoration committee put up. It feels a little too malicious or evil-spirited for a teacher to be alright with that. That and of course the colour of the message being in what's presumably dried blood.

Honestly, it seems like the students are a bunch of wusses. Either that, or it seems Sunset keeps getting put with the ones who freak out over the slightest things a lot. Well, Sunset herself isn't as tough a girl as she tries to act either, which also colours the narration.

Still, the students are partially rational and aware of cliches, at least. Going down and checking up on the eye again after Sweetie Drops works herself into a fit to prove it's a fake, and then checking the mannequin to deduce that's a prank as well are good ideas. Not so good ideas is to keep splitting up over and over again when there's somebody who appears to be pulling off some more mean-spirited pranks, as well as two dodgy cranky old staff members in the school still. And this after Sunflowers convinced herself there's a cannibal in the school (which is probably correct, unless there's going to be some bait-and-switch plot twist later).

And so it begins. No more of the jump scares, let the killing begin. Even if it does feel a little weird to read Poindexer's PoV, then end up with him being killed. It feels like part of the build-up has now been let go, as we now know for a fact there's somebody going around and picking students off. Sure, we would have known that as well just discovering his body after the fact, but seeing the killer so early deflates some of that tension.

I'll give Trixie and Sunset marks for at least thinking a bit. Obviously, they're nowhere near a perfect mental state now, given that they've stumbled into a real dead body that's been clearly murdered. From an outside perspective, I know there's a classroom upstairs with multiple cell phones they can use to call the police, but they're in a panic right now and not going to think of that.

The killer seems to be focusing on Trixie and Sunset, not really caring to wander off and try to kill anybody else. It could be he doesn't even know that there are other people in the school (though that is unlikely). It may be he's aiming for them because they're the only ones who know there's a murderer in the school, as the killer moved Poindexer's body before anybody else other than the two girls found it. Even though others will eventually discover the front doors are locked, he'll have the advantage of surprise. Mind games :pinkiecrazy:

At least they're thinking correctly about phones. I highly doubt it'd be feasible for the landline wires to be snipped, though. So far as I know, a building like a school will usually have a couple of redundancies for multiple phone lines.

Well, it certainly seems the killer managed to stake out the entire place well beforehand. Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to know where everybody was going to be, or even that they wouldn't have their phones on their person but rather in the bags. So far, everybody's been pretty much running away from him too. Of course, it's dangerous to have bravado against a killer, but nobody even bothered trying to look for a blunt weapon or anything.

Well, there's two more confirmed deaths.

Well, it's interesting to note that VP Luna hasn't actually been seen once yet since the start of the story. I doubt she would be the actual killer or anything, but I try to keep my mind open to any potential plot twist in stories, no matter how farfetched it may seem. With the supposed magic books, she might even have been possessed as well by some evil spirit, which would explain knowing how to go for the cell phones. More likely she's either somehow ignorant to all the events that are going on, or she's been killed but hasn't had her body moved yet.

Sunset and Trixie obviously won't trust the other two students, but at least they have a group of four now. So long as they can get a half-decent weapon between the four of them, they'll finally outnumber the killer. Too bad they'll probably be ambushed and then split up or something.

Well, definitely magic at this point, probably a curse as well. This fic just went from a slasher right to a supernatural slasher, which means all the students are in danger. Well, more danger than they already were. I wonder if the magic or curse or whatever is keeping this figure going is also related to Uranus being in the sky, and if he'll fall apart once Uranus disappears out of visible sight. It would make for a decent bookend to conclude the fic.

Also, Sweetie Drops and Sunset, you go girls. Being the first ones to decisively attack the killer instead of constantly falling back.

Well, there go two more characters. With Clay Jugs also dead, it's proof that the skeleton apparently hasn't had enough time to take each body up to the rooftop. So Luna might be dead, with her body somewhere, or she might controlling the skeleton from afar.

I had thought earlier the skeleton was the thing mentioned in the lab earlier as Billy Bones, just animated by magic or a curse or Uranus in the sky. I didn't think so, because I thought that it had actual skin that had burned off. Looking back at the previous chapter, it merely says charred and blackened, without referencing any skin that was burned. So it would seem something is animating Billy Bones.

I do wonder whose office it is that Trixie and Sunset saw earlier with the picture of the dead killer from 20 years ago. Narrative convenience says it'll be Luna's office due to no other characters being left in the school, instead of some other teacher being blatantly introduced now. Maybe she's been infected by a Nightmare spirit? I suppose the dead killer could have been this world's Sombra, or something like that. Well, there's only two more chapters so I guess we'll get the reveals pretty soon here.

Somebody had mentioned something earlier about what looked like a ritual circle, hadn't they?

Well, at least now it's out-and-out. The true killer. Obviously I had thrown that idea out enough chapters ago as a possibility that it wasn't anything like a surprise, not to mention the narrative conservation of just how many characters are left. S

I notice we still don't have a name for the skeleton. I suppose we'll get that in the epilogue.

I don't think Sunset will be wanting to stay in the human world for very long after this. I think she'll be booking it back to Equestria the next time the portal opens. Along with a hanger-on.

Well, that didn't quite go the way I expected it to from the story synopsis. I was honestly expecting more a supernatural horror from the start, then realised it was going to be a slasher in the first chapter. Obviously, it still ended up having some supernatural elements in the last few chapters, but they were a lot lighter in comparison. The epilogue feels barren, especially being bereft of any of Principal Celestia's thoughts on what occurred.

Thanks for all the comments  it was very enjoyable (and insightful) to follow your thoughts after each chapter.

8883598
Haha yeet. Stay woke. (Actually that is kind of interesting)

8883721
And we must thank The Great and Powerful Trixie for saving Sunset's life.

“But magic is supposed to be wonderful and—and magical!” Trixie exclaimed. “It’s not supposed to be like that! An undead monster murdering kids! Magic isn’t supposed to be terrifying!” She was sobbing.

All I could think here was: Akko.

...This ismaking me ship Sunset x Trixie. I'm not even sure if that's a thing.

Trixie and Sunset were lying on the bed, snuggled up against each other on the narrow mattress, fast asleep.

Ship. Shiiiiip.

Is there a sequal to this?

9465380
I'm afraid there are no plans to have a sequel at the moment.

9468154
Well ponyfeathers lol you have a great style for horror and I hope you continue in it and this is a unique way to have a nightmaremoon in human form

Woah.
That was... not bad, actually.
Yeah, you can find some typos. Yes, there is two or three moments, where things don't really make sense, but...
That is a good story, overall. Like 7/10.
Upvoted and favorited.

I just read the 4th chapter and I can't help but wonder if this in any way based on that korean horror game white day a labyrinth named school.

Usually, I don't read stories like this special where one of the main characters is the culprit and where at least one main character dies. But for some reason I read this and I got to say, this is not bad. Wouldn't give you a favorite (sorry:applejackunsure:) but definitely a like and a spot on a book shelf.

Also...
