Finally! I have been waiting for someone to make a Soma/MLP crossover for a long time, and so far you're doing a great job. Rarity is definitely an interesting choice for this situation.
I'm wondering how similar to the game you're going to make this. I've already noticed a few differences from it, so at least that means you aren't directly copying it, which is good to know.

Thanks! I'm glad you're liking it so far.
Some plot points are going to be similar (you can probably guess the obvious one so far). But I'm looking to make it branch off into its own thing now that the intro is out of the way. There's a lot more that can be done with the mlp universe involved.

I enjoyed the read, you wrote a chapter that has almost no dialogue, but it kept me interested without being verbose.
Also enjoyed the twist at the end, looking forward to more chapters.
So although the facility seems abandoned and in a state of disrepair, I'm guessing there are still inhabited cities from Rarity not describing anything unusual with Ponyville (no destroyed buildings or anything to indicate it had been abandoned), plus 68 years isn't that long. Makes me more curious about what happened.
Unless of course what Rarity saw was just an illusion for ponies who'd be trapped in the facility.

Keep in mind Rarity says she can't see anyone. She's also pretty far away up in the clouds and wouldn't be able to see much beyond what the general aesthetics of the town are.
I don't want to spoil anything just in case someone who hasn't played SOMA Reads this, but I can't help but just smile at all the little hints.
So Rarity can't use magic around the robots... interesting. I'm sure that won't cause any problems when she inevitably gets attacked by one, two or probably eight in the near future.
So far this is looking very promising. I can't help but wonder how big the differences between being in an underwater research facility and a cloud level... whatever this is will be?

And you raise a good point, Rarity hasn't been attacked by robots in a whole chapter. This simply wont do!
I can't help but feel like I'm partly responsible for giving you the idea to do these horrible things to poor Rarity because of my previous comment.
As for the pacing I think it's pretty good. It didn't feel too fast or too slow or anything like that. Then again, I'm a really positive person that sucks at noticing the bad aspects of stories unless it's painfully obvious. But I still think you're doing an amazing job.
So Rarity gets her first look at structure gel, and I have a feeling that she's going to become VERY familiar with it later on. And she did the weird dead body... memory... sound... absorb... thingy TM.
And last but not least my theory that she could walk on clouds was proven correct! Yes! That means my other theory that Rarity is going to survive and none of the bad things that happen in the game is going to happen to her right!?

That is a lot of Soma, that's maybe twice as many times as I've played it. There are 0 plans to cancel this, the next chapter is already planned out and started.

I know it's a lot of soma, but I love the game. Three of those runs were no damage speedruns (apart from scripted events). The first two were failed attempts were I got hurt by Akers at Theta and the second was were I got hurt by the Viperfish near the end of the game (I almost gave up). I third attempt was a success however.

a great story so far. but the plot itself has problem.
copy-paste premises from soma to mlp directly is kinda ridiculous. for example, ponies has both dimensional crossing spells and time traveling spell. they fully controlled their weather and celestial objects. they have divine entity called force of harmony watch over them.
