This is a beautiful story. Well done. Thank you for sharing.

Bravo,a touching meeting and an friend in the astral plain

You had to go and invoke memories of "Tales of Ba Sing Se," didn't you? :applecry: :fluttercry: :raritycry: I always had my own little headcanon about how Iroh and Ozai came to be in their positions -- someday, I will write that fanfic.

As for this story, wow. You nailed both Celestia's and Iroh's voices, and I like thinking those two old souls could meet on the astral plane. Sometimes, when people are in pain, sharing that pain can heal.

Can't get the soundtrack: keeps saying it's unavailible in my country (and I did change the region to US, UK, Australlia... why won't you work !!)
(The whole channel is unavailible in my country)(but a part of it is in US)
(I've sorted through all countries and youtube still doesn't want to play it for me)
(I know it should have worked beacuse it has worked with some videos in the past (and it does with some from that channel))
Enough of talking about youtube not letting me listen to music.
A beautiful sad and a bit happy story, teaching quite a lot.

This was amazing. I'm a huge fan of ATLA. Admittedly, I haven't watched in far too long, and when I saw the tree in the music thumbnail I already started to cry. You have no idea how much I needed a story like this today. This was extremely well written and gave me a lot of nostalgia for both series. And it gave me hope. Thank you.

This was well done and I enjoyed it a lot! My favorite philosophical quote of Iroh's has always been:
"You must never give into dispair. Allow yourself to slip down that road, and you surrender to your lowest instincts. In the darkest times, hope is something you give yourself. That is the meaning of inner strength."

I almost linked "Leaves from the Vine", but then I realized that no one would be able to read the story through their tears.

Glad you enjoyed it! I've always looked at great animation and great stories as places to draw strength from in my life, and I wanted that to shine through in my own work. I'm glad that it helped, even just a little bit.

I love that quote. I personally drew a lot of inspiration from Iroh's conversation with Toph during the season 2 episode "The Chase." I love how Iroh manages to help Toph while also realizing that he has room to grow. It is one of my favorite scenes to this day.

Good writing! If this had been admitted into a fimfic contest it would have been a finalist!

Hah, nice cover pic. Immediately recognisable.

Immediately after seeing that author's note: screw you, I didn't want to cry today.

and then let them flow like water down a stream.

Ah. I see she's trying to unblock her chi.

under my own reign

Iroh never took the throne, did he? Highest leadership position he got during and after the events of AtLA was Grandmaster of the White Lotus, right? Edit: nope, just remembered the comics. I'm a dumb dumb.

He has always done his best to help the people of his country, and never at the expense of those living elsewhere.

Ok, now I might disagree. Wasn't Zuko becoming a bad ruler for a while the whole point of the first comic? Or did I remember wrong?

both from forces without and within

What does without mean in this context? Is it just the opposite of "within"?

I think it is time that I find my way once more.”

Easily my favorite line in the fic.

Beautiful fic. Iroh is the best character from any universe. Thanks for this.

Iroh says a little further down that Zuko hasn't always made the right decisions. He has always tried to do the right thing however.

Without and within refers to Zuko facing his own inner turmoil while also trying to fix a county that has been at war with the rest of the world for so long, and where not all of the citizens support him.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

never at the expense of those living elsewhere.

I think this is the part I disagreed with, since I think Zuko was refusing to give back the Earth Kingdom their conquered land or something, right?

Oh well, it's probably semantics at this point.

Zuko was working to dismantle the Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom, but found himself facing resistance from the people of the colonies, both the ones of Fire Nation and Earth kingdom descent. Upon visiting and spending time in them, he realized that the two peoples had become integrated in some of the oldest colonies, especially one called Yu Dao. The colony could not be split back up because the people there considered themselves members of both nations, as they had a mixed parentage. The Earth King had not yet been to the colonies and upon hearing this explanation thought Zuko was going back on his word.

Ah, so I did forget the details.

Well then, this is a perfect excuse to go back and re-read all the comics.

Thx buddy.

this gave me a genuine sense of peace, iroh is one of my animated heros and to have him portrayed so well in his interactions with Celestia just made me so happy. The music was a nice touch too

8243467 Hey man, I got you covered!

Thanks even though it's not 6 minutes like it says under that unaccesible video

Dear goodness

My dear fellow, six minutes is but the sampler platter. We serve the whole meal here.

Lavender flow'rs
Fading so slow
All hanging in the hall
Leading to the throne.

Little sister Lu,
Won't you come home?
Dear sister Lu,
Won't you come--home?

I swear, I would have GUARANTEED cried if that lullaby was part of the story....

Reading this with the sound track playing was delightful you really did Iroh justice.
