Despite living in an orphanage, Nova is a mostly well adjusted colt. He's happy, healthy, and has the cutest best friend in the whole world! Life would be perfect if it wasn't for his seething hatred of Princess Mi Amore Cadenza. A problem further compounded by the fact that the very princess he loathes just so happens to be a patron of said orphanage and often takes the time to write personal letters to all the young residents.
So when he discovers that the Princess of Love is to be wed to the Captain of the Equestrian Royal Guard, Nova begins scheming up a way to crash the wedding. Unaware that an ominous group of shapeshifters are also planning their own surprise wedding crash.
Meanwhile Nova's best friend, Glide, tries his best to figure out why his friend harbors such an unusual anger towards one of Equestria's most beloved princesses. All while trying to hide his huge crush on Nova. But as time passes, Glide gradually finds it harder and harder to keep his feelings a secret. Worried that if Nova ever finds out it just might ruin their friendship forever.
And thus a tale of adventure, romance, and a bit of awkwardness unfolds as the two colts run away from the orphanage. On a quest to make it to Canterlot in time to crash a Royal Wedding!

There shouldn't be as long of a wait on the third chapter. It'll be coming out at the very end of this month or the very beginning of next.
Oh, this is fun, I love the teenage in love with an older girl plot, and is jealous of her boy friend plot. Can't wait to see when nova meets the fake Cadence at the wedding and get up front with chrysalis and what she will do. I also like his friend in this can't wait to see what happens to the both of them.

I'm also really looking forward to the inevitable confrontation with Chrysalis. Unfortunately that won't be happening anytime soon. But in the meantime, the first Changeling character of the story will be introduced sometime within the next few chapters. So feel free to look forward to that.
Interesting to see that Nova seems to have the nearly exact same ability as Cadence does, and might explain in part why he is such a womanizer. I wonder if Candens is the one who taught him to use his magic for love and started is original idolizing her, why he gets letter from her who shows consenter for him. Still I wonder if he chooses to go out with those fillies because the just want a quick fling or he does that to help them have more confidence in themselves and manages to let them down gentility so that they can move on to other potential partners, rather then just dumping them am move on to the next 'notch in his belt'. From the looks of it I am guessing that is the later over the former if helping out the stallion with his marefriend and managed to make it a sort of business. I wonder if he is payed for it in some way and might corrupt his desire of spread love just do it for more money.
Still I am guessing something is going to go really wrong with Nova's magic that will affect him or others. He seems to be pretty sure that his magic doesn't have anything inherently questionable. I wonder if this changeling that you mentioned with try to use or manipulate Nova's special magic to harvest more of his love quota gathering and will try to drive a wedge between Nova and Glide.
I will be looking forward to see the next chapter.

Nova already stated that he learned the magic from an old foalsitter.
Nova is a nice guy and all, but he doesn't deliberately date just to help build the confidence of others. Not that it isn't a common side effect considering how well he usually treats the fillies he's with, which is part of the reason why Glide was so surprised that he hadn't even learned his newest fillyfriend's name. It is fascinating that you even thought of that though since there is actually a character in the story who deliberately dates others who need emotional support and confidence building. But it would be a spoiler to go into that at the moment.
As for the letters from Cadance, she sends them to every colt and filly in the orphanage. It was mentioned in the first chapter, I believe, that she financially supports the orphanage, as well as several others across Equestria. She just really loves foals of all ages and treats the ones she supports as penpals. Which is why Glide also gets letters from her.

Is Nova one of Cadance's by-blows? An illegitimate child, to be clear. The tricolor mane and blue magic seem to point that way. It would kinda explain his hate for Cadance.
So I take it he thinks he is a an alicorn or that that he doesn't know at all that he might be a changelling, interesting turn of events but also makes sense in a way with his love affinity wonder if he become like thorax before he did. He still seem to delude himself that he still has a shot with Cadence, I wonder made him have his first crush on her? I though he never really knew his mother?
