Vogon Biotech is a company that specializes in creating helpmates, biodroids, of fictional characters. Specifically they create MLP:FiM helpmates, but unlike other companies they only create one helpmate of each character. The reason has been revealed in the various Vogonverse stories including : I See Pink, An Apple in a Bushel of Peaches, Summer Grasses, Setting of the Sun, and The Lady and the Soldier.

Okay, that was a little bit of a Spoiler, but it's been in the planning stages for a while. RD is going to be joining Fluttershy and Ark later on. L0rd0f7hund3r has planned much of the story out, and is currently working on it. From what I understand the next chapter or the one after, is going to introduce RD into the story line.
