The Day Before the School part 2
“You know, I didn’t think you would challenge me after I beat you last time.” Sunset said with a smug smile on her face.
“The only reason you beat me in Slateport city is because you had help and I was wasn’t strong enough.” Shadow answered as calm as ever.
“Well, we can agree on one thing, you are week.” She took out a Pokéball. “Let’s just battle already.”
Sunset and Shadow was position themselves far enough to battle, Joshua was the referee. ‘How did I end up here?’ He asked himself. Luna, Ace and Lumi was standing not far from Joshua.
“So, I haven’t seen Sunset or Shadow battle. Are they any good?” Lumi asked Luna.
“I have battle them both and they are pretty strong, this could go both ways.”
“I am glad you have learned something over these past two months.”
That new voice made Luna and two other to jump a few meters from the ground, they all looked behind them and they saw James walking towards them. “Are you trying to give us a heart attack?” Luna asked him with a little anger in his voice.
“Why would I do that to the girl I am dating?” He said with smile on his, he stood beside her and looked at two trainer that was about to battle. “How did this happened?”
Ace decided to answer that. “Sunset insulted me and said that I was weak and then Shadow challenge her to a battle.”
James nodded. “At least his heart is in the right place.”
Back with the battle, they were about to start. “Alright, let’s get this battle started. Each trainer are allowed to use three Pokémon each and the battle are over when trainers Pokémon are unable to battle, switching Pokémon are allowed.”
Sunset threw her first Pokéball. “Let’s go Fearow.” Out came a giant bird.
When Luna saw the Pokémon was using, her entire body froze, the bird was looking at her with an angry look. She grabbed James arm and started to pull on it. “James, I think that’s the one.”
“You mean that Fearow that grabbed you?” She nodded. “Are you sure?” She nodded like crazy. “You got to be kidding me.”
Ace and Lumi had no idea what they were talking about, so beside to check the data with their Pokedex. Luna manage to find hers, somehow.
Fearow the beak Pokémon. Fearow is recognized by its long neck and elongated beak. They are conveniently shaped for catching prey in soil or water. It deftly moves its long and skinny beak to pluck prey.
“It doesn’t sound that dangerous.” Said Ace.
“Trust me, looks can be deceiving.” James answered him.
Back to the battle, Shadow called out his Pokémon. “You’re up first Vibrava.”
Out came a Pokémon that looked like a giant mosquito to Luna. “Hey, his Trapinch evolved.” Said James. Luna pointed her dex at the Pokémon.
Vibrava the vibration Pokémon and the evolved from of Trapinch. Vibrava’s wings have not yet completed the process of growing. Rather than flying long distances, they are more useful for generating ultrasonic waves by vibrating.
James crossed his arms. “This should be interesting.”
“Let the battle begging.” Joshua dropped both his arms and the battle was on.
Shadow. “Ladies first.”
“You might regret that, use drill peck on Vibrava.” Fearow’s beak suddenly started to spin and then the bird flew towards its target.
Shadow just waited until the last moment. “Doge the attack.” At the last minute, Vibrava flew up into the air and managed to doge the attack and Fearow hit the ground, not its target.
Then something happened that took Sunset completely off guard, Fearow’s beak was stuck into the ground and the beak Pokémon had trouble getting it out.
On the side line, Ace had trouble controlling his laughter. “Oh man, that is priceless, it’s beak it’s stuck in the ground.” Lumi couldn’t help but giggle a little, Luna wasn’t entirely sure what just happened, James didn’t think it was funny. Ok, maybe a little funny. Grotle and Grovyle just watch the whole thing with their mouth hanging out.
Shadow just scratched his head “Well, this is unusual. Anyway, use rock slide.” Vibrava, who was in the air, summoned rock and then he hurled them towards Fearow who could not move at all, Fearow was hit in the back, hard.
Sunset clench her fist. “What are you doing Fearow? Get your beak out of the ground and use mirror move.” Fearow managed to out of the ground, he then flew up in the air and then suddenly the bird summoned rock and hurled them towards Vibrava.
“Use double team.” Vibrava made copy of itself and Fearow’s attack hit one of the fakes one. “Use rock slide again.” The many Vibrava’s disappeared and then the real appeared behind Fearow and send away rocks that managed to knock out Fearow.
“Fearow is unable to battle Vibrava is the winner.” Joshua announced.
“James, why did Fearow use rock slide right after Vibrava did?”
“Fearow used mirror move, it mimic the last move it opponent used.” Luna nodded.
Sunset called back Fearow. “Useless.” The took out a new Pokéball. “Try this one, go Granbull.”
Out came a Pokémon that looked like a giant pitbull. “That’s not good.” Said James, Luna wasn’t sure why he said that, so she checked the data.
Granbull the fairy Pokémon. Granbull has a particularly well developed lover jaws. The enormous fangs are heavy, causing the Pokémon to tip its head back for balance. Unless it is startled, it will not try to bite indiscriminately.
“Sound impressive.” Luna said while looking at the information.
“It does, but it’s jaws is not the problem. Granbull is a fairy type and Vibrava is part dragon. Sunset has the advantage” Luna understood why he said, she knew that fairy type is a good match against dragon types.
“What are you going to do now?” Sunset asked Shadow.
Shadow was as calm as ever as he took out a Pokéball. “Vibrava, return.” Vibrava disappeared and he took out a new Pokéball. “You’re up Lairon.” Out came a Pokémon that looked like it was made of armour.
Luna checked the data.
Lairon the iron armor Pokémon and the evolved from of Aron. Lairon feeds on iron contained in rocks and water. It makes its nest on mountains where iron ore can be buried. As a result, the Pokémon often clashes with humans mining the iron ore.
Luna remember Aron and she is amazed that tat little Pokémon can get that big, now that she think about it, Treecko also grew when he evolved. She just let out a sigh, she was going to stop think about how Pokémon grow and get bigger and stronger, she is just going with the flow.
“If you think that will help you, think again. Use fire fang.” Fire appeared in Granbull’s mouth as the fairy Pokémon started to run towards Lairon.
“Use iron defence.” Larion started to shine just before Granbull attack hit, when Granbull bite the iron armor Pokémon, it created an explosion the send Lairon backward a little. “Use iron head.” Larion head started to glow and before Sunset could react, Larion headbutted Granbull in the stomach.
Granbull flew back a little and landed on its back. “Get back up now.” Sunset ordered, Granbull managed to get up but it looked like it was scared.
“Hey, what’s going on? It looks like Granbull is scared. “Said Lumi.
“It’s a side effect of iron head.” All of them looked at James. “There’s a chance the attack can make the target unable to battle.”
Shadow decided to take advantage of this. “Use another iron head.” Lairon heads started to glow and again, he then started to run towards Granbull, Larion hit the fairy Pokémon in the stomach again so hard that it passed out.
“Granbull is unable to battle Larion is the winner.” Joshua announced.
Sunset called back Granbull. “Why do I waste my time on these Pokémon?” She then took out her last Pokéball and threw it out in the air. “Go Combusken.” Out came the young fowl Pokémon, ready for battle.
Shadow held out a Pokéball. “Larion, return.” He then put it away and looked at his partner, Charmeleon, who was standing behind him. “You ready?” Charmeleon just smiled as he walked out on the battle field.
Sunset clench her fist even harder. ‘It might be three to one, but I am not letting this guy beat me this easy.’ She took a deep breath to calm herself down. “Use double kick.” Combusken jump into the air and flew towards Charmeleon to try and kick it.
Shadow decided to wait until the right time, when Combusken was just a few centimetres from Charmeleon. “Grabbed Combusken’s legs and throw it into the ground.” Somehow, Charmeleon managed to do just that. he grabbed Combusken leg an threw him into the ground with thumb.
Combusken managed to get up pretty fast and hoped over to Sunset side. “Use flamethrower.” Sunset order in a frustrating tone.
“You use flamethrower too.” Shadow order.
Both Pokémon breathe fire and their attack meet. At first it looked like both attack was just as strong, but then Charmeleon managed to push back Combusken’s attack. Sunset’s Pokémon was hit by a flamethrower.
“Let’s finished this, use dragon claw.” Green claws appeared on Charmeleon’s hands as he started to run towards Combusken.
“Get out of the way.” But it was too late, Charmeleon gave Combusken a right hook that send him flying in the air and landed on the ground with a thumb with starts in his eyes.
“Combusken is unable to battle, Charmeleon is the winner, that means that the victory in this battle is Shadow.” Announced Joshua.
Sunset was furious right now, not only did she lose the battle she was humiliated. She called back Combusken and stormed towards school in anger.
James and the others just watch as she left, wondering why she was so mad. A little father from the battle, was professor Birch. He had watch the hole battle and he was disappointed in the way Sunset was acting, she treated her Pokémon badly and she didn’t even thank Shadow for the battle. He just shook his head in disappointment as he walked back inside.
James and the other congratulated Shadow on his victory, Ace even pointed out how easy Shadow made it look. Then James told them that Sunset’s Pokémon was poorly trained, he guested that she had stopped training them properly, she had probably won so much that she had stopped training them. He had seen it before and he was hoping that he would never see it again, until now.
After the battle, the gang decided to have some food before going to bed. After they had eaten, they were in the boy’s room, reading the file about the mysterious Pokémon.
Shadow was reading the file, considering he didn’t see it he wanted to read it first. “Nihilego, also known as UB-01 symbiont.” He looked up from the file and at James, who was sitting in his bed. “They gave the Pokémon a number?” Charmeleon, who was standing beside him and was also reading, he was also surprised by that.
“I said the same thing and all the professor did was shrugged his shoulders.”
Shadow blinked a few time and then went back to the file. “One of the ultra beast. It’s unclear whether or not this Pokémon, but sometimes it can be observed behaving like a young girl.” He closed the file. “Ultra beast?” He asked.
James nodded. “That’s what they called it, they are Pokémon from ultra space, they are extradimensional Pokémon.”
“You mean they are Pokémon from another dimension?” Luna asked James, she was sitting beside him on his bed.
“Pretty much.”
“That’s just stupide.” They all looked at Ace who was lying on his back on the top bed. “If they are Pokémon then just called them that, don’t give them numbers and call them ultra beast.”
They hate to admit it, but he had a pointe. If they were Pokémon, they should just called them that. “Stupide or not, it’s not our call, those who discovered them gets to name them.” James told him.
“I know that, it’s still stupide.”
“So, James. You saw this Nihilego, did it live up to what it stood in the file?” Asked Lumi who was standing in the door way to the room.
When James first noticed Lumi, he wondered who she was. She told him that she was from Snowpoint city, then James asked her if she had chi, she almost punched for that one. Lumi told him that she couldn’t stand the gym leader, James knew how she felt.
“If you mean it acted like a little girl, you could say that.”
Lumi was about to asked him another question when she heard her Grotle making some noise behind her. “Sorry Grotle, I didn’t see you there.” It was Joshua, he came into view.
“What did you do with my Grotle?” Lumi asked Joshua.
“I didn’t see so I accidentally kick him, I didn’t mean it.” Joshua said with an apologies. He then looked into the room. “Sorry to say this, but we are turning of the lights in the hallway and that mean everyone have to be in their rooms now.” That made them all groan. “That’s the rules, Luna and Lumi has to go back their room.”
Luna gave James a kiss on the check before she got up and walked out of the room. While walking towards her room, she couldn’t help but wonder what would happened the next seven days.
