Elite Four; Drake

After Luna’s battle with the twins, she and James was ready to go to the next gym, they were currently standing at the docks on Mossdeep.

“Ready to head out to the next island?” James asked Luna.

“As ready as I ever be.”

James just nodded he was about to take out Lapras Pokéball when he saw something in the corner of his eye, there was someone walking towards them. “I’ll be damn.” James turned towards the strangers.

Luna also look in that direction and she saw an elderly man walking towards them, he stop not far from them.

James just crossed his arms. “Well, isn’t it Drake. I thought you be dead by now?”

That made Drake chuckle. “I’m not that easy to get rid of James.” Luna had no idea who this man was, but one thing was for sure, James and this Drake knew each other. Drake then notice Luna. “And I’m guessing this is the girl from another world.”

James and Luna eyes widen when they hear that. “Who the hell told you Drake?” James shouted at him.

Drake put up both his hand in defence. “Take it easy James, I’m not going to tell anyone, and it was Birch who told me so relax.”

James knew that Drake could keep a secret but Luna on the other hand didn’t know this person, she step forward. “James might trust you, but I don’t know who the hell you are.” She shout at him.

Drake couldn’t help but smile. “She has fire in her, I like her already.”

James placed a hand on her shoulder. “Calm down Luna this is Drake of the elite four and a dragon master.”

Luna look back and forth. “The elite four?” James had told her about them, they were the strongest trainers in Hoenn except the champion. “Those that mean you had to battle this guy to get your title?” She asked him.

James nodded with a smile. “On my three attempt yes and let me tell you he wasn’t easy to beat.”

Drake stroke his moustache. “I remember that battle, you were a tough trainer but in the end you managed to beat me, you and that Swampert was a tough opponent. But then you lost to Tobias and that Darkrai, I saw that battle and what happened after it, you lost your spark.”

James look down with a gloomy look. “Yeah, not my best moment in my life.” He look up at Drake. “Why are you here Drake? Are you here to challenge me?”

“You got that right, I heard that you were on the road again helping a young lay with her journey and I couldn’t let this opportunity pass. What do you say? Want to battle for old time sake?” Drake asked with smile on his face.

James look over to Luna. “Is this ok with you?”

Luna nodded. “Of course, ever since you talk about the elite four I wanted to see one of them in action, I’m not going to miss up this opportunity.”

That made Drake laugh. “I like you, you have a spunk that I miss in today’s trainers.” He turned around. “Follow me to where we will have our battle.” He then started to walk while Luna and James followed him.

It didn’t take long before they arrived at their destination, a pirate ship. Luna couldn’t help but question Drake choice. “You are going to have your battle on this thing?” She was sceptical.

“Hey, my ship is a lot sturdier then she look. I had many battle on it and she hasn’t subsided yet.” That didn’t help Luna at all.

James put a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry about it, he is telling the truth.” It help, a little.

They walk on board and Luna could see a bunch of sailor which she guest that work for Drake, she then watch as James and Drake took their position on a battle field.

“I’m guessing you want to have two on two battle.”

Drake smiled. “That’s right.”

Then one of the sailors was the judge. “This Pokémon battle between the elite four Drake and the former champion James while now begging, each trainer are allowed to use two Pokémon each, they are allowed to switch Pokémon at any time and the battle while over when both of the trainers Pokémon are unable to battle. If both trainer are ready,” Drake and James took out a Pokéball. “then begging.”

Drake was up first. “Come on out Shelgon.” Out came a Pokémon that Luna knew.

“Cool, he has a Shelgon.”

“That’s because Drake is known as the dragon master.” Luna saw one of the sailors walking towards her. “Drake is a specialist when it comes to dragon Pokémon and he know how to battle with them.” The sailor said while he stood beside her.

“So, elite four is kind of gym leaders? They only use one type of Pokémon.”

The sailor nodded. “You can say that.”

Then it was James turn. “You’re up first Gallade.” Out came the blade Pokémon and he was ready for a fight. Luna had never seen Gallade in a battle before and she was excited to see what it could do. “I think I will make the first move, use night slash.” The blades on Gallade started to glow as he ran towards his opened.

Luna was certain that Drake would make a move, so boy was she surprised when he did nothing, Gallade slashed his opponent with force and it look like it did a lot of damaged but Shelgon was just fine.

“You haven’t chance your battle still at all old timer.”

Drake just smirked. “Why chance it when it works.”

Luna was just confused. “I don’t get it, why isn’t Drake doing anything?”

“That’s just how he battle, he like to test his opponent strength.” Said the sailor.

“But, Drake knows who James battle, they have battle before.”

“That might be right but that dosen’t mean it will be easy for James.” Luna jut nodded.

James on the other hand. ‘Drake’s Shelgon is as tough as ever, let’s see how he handled this.’ James thought to himself. “Use confusion.” Gallade eyes started to glow and he lifted the endurance Pokémon up in the air. “Now, throw it around.” Gallade did as it trainer said, he threw Shelgon into one of the mast on the ship, then the other one, it went back and forth a while before Shelgon was send into the floor. Luna was certain that Shelgon couldn’t fight anymore, but then the Pokémon just stood up as nothing had happened.

“Your Gallade is as strong as it as before James, your hiatus hasn’t weaken it.” Drake said with a smile on his face.

“I could say the same about your Shelgon.”

“Praise won’t win a battle, use dragon breath.” Shelgon breath out a green attack from its mouth.

“Dodge it.” Gallade jump over the attack. “Use psycho cut.” Gallade’s left blade started to glow as he head towards Shelgon.

“Use take down.”

Shelgon started to run and it jump into the air, Luna was impressed that Blake’s Shelgon could do that. Then the two Pokémon’s attack collide in the air and it didn’t look like neither of them would win, then all of sudden Shelgon flew towards the floor, Shelgon landed hard on it and was out.

“Shelgon is unable to battel, Gallade is the winner.” Said the sailor.

Gallagde landed in front of James. “Nice work Gallagde.” The blade Pokémon was happy for the praise.

Drake called back Shelgon. ”Well, one thing is for sure, your Pokémon are still as strong as when we first meet, maybe even stronger.” He put away Shelgon’s Pokéball and took out a new one. “Don’t count me out yet.” He then threw the ball. “Your turn Haxorus.”

Out came a giant Pokémon that Luna hadn’t seen before, it stood on two legs, it was yellow with some black and it had to giant tusk at its mouth. She took out her Pokédex.

Haxorus the axe jaw Pokémon. Their sturdy tusks will stay sharp even if used to cut steel beams. These Pokémon are covered in armour.

“Wow, sounds tough.”

The sailor smile while crossing his arms. “Drake must mean business if he’s using Haxorus, considering it’s one of his strongest Pokémon.” Luna couldn’t help but feel nervous when she heard that.

James wasn’t that impressed, he had fought Haxorus before. “So, your using Haxorus. Fine by me, use night slash.” Gallade’s blades started to glow and then he ran towards Haxorus.

“Use dragon claw Haxorus.” The axe jaw Pokémon’s claws started to glow, and new claws appeared, the Pokémon then started to run towards Gallade.

Both attacks collide and the two Pokémon attack each other relentless, it didn’t look like either of them was getting the upper hand. Then all of sudden Haxorus managed to get a hit to Gallade’s head, the blade Pokémon didn’t have a chance to recover as Haxorus keep on the assault. “Way to go Haxorus, now finished it.” The axe jaw Pokémon gave one final upper cut to Gallade head and he flee backwards, he landed right in front James and was out.

“Gallade is unable to battel, Haxorus is the winner.” Said the sailor.

Drake was happy now. “Nice work Haxorus.” Haxorus roar towards the sky.

James called back his Pokémon. “It was a good battle, take a rest.” He put away the Pokéball and took out a new one and threw it. “You’re up Excadrill.”

Out came a Pokémon Luna hadn’t seen before, it look like a giant mole and it had some giant claws on its hands and head. Luna checked the data.

Excadrill the subterrene Pokémon. More than 300 feet below the surface, Excadrill build maze like nests. Their activity can be destructive to subway tunnels.

Luna couldn’t help but be impressed over the data on the dex, but she couldn’t help but think that Excadrill was at disadvantage considering it was smaller than Haxorus. One thing is for sure, she has learned that anything could happened in a Pokémon battle so who anyone of them could be the winner.

James was ready to attack. “Use drill run.” Excadrill started run and then it jump into the air while becoming a drill that was headed toward Haxorus.

“Bloke it.” Haxorus crossed it’s arm to take the attack head on and when it collide Haxorus was pushed back. “Don’t give up.” Haxorus managed to get its footing and push Excadrill back.

“Use metal claw.” Excadrill stop drilling into Haxorus and then it claws started to glow, then Haxorus was struck twice by the attack.

“He meant to do it.”

The sailor look over to Luna with confusion. “What do you mean?” he asked her.

“James used drill run to get closed to Haxorus so he could use metal claw because he somehow knew that Drake would make Haxorus to bloke the attack.” Luna was proud that she managed to figure that out herself, she guessed she has learned something the time she has spent in the human world.

“Push it back with dragon pulse.” Haxorus opened it mouth and out came a blue pulse that hit Excadrill in the stomach sending flying backwards.

Excardill landed on the deck while sliding back a little. “Let’s use sandstorm.” Then Excardill jump up in the air and when it landed a sandstorm blew up. “Now use metal claw again.” Excardill’s claw started to glow again but when he headed towards Haxorus he was much faster than before.

“What’s going on? Why is Excardill moving faster than before?” Luna asked while trying to see in the sandstorm, she could barely see through it.

“It’s Excardill ability, it’s called sand rush it makes Excadrill move twice as fast in a sandstorm and considering Excadrill is a ground and steel type, the sandstorm isn’t affecting him at all.” The sailor told her. Luna couldn’t help but be impressed by it all.

“Block the attack Haxorus.” The axe jaw Pokémon crossed it’s arms.

Excardill’s attack connected with Haxorus and it look like it hurt even he was blocking it with his arms. “Keep using metal claw.” Excadrill keep on attack so Haxrous couldn’t attack and it work.

Drake had to do something. “Haxrous, jump back and use dragon pulse.” Haxrous managed somehow to jump back and attack.

“Dodge the attack Excardill.” He managed easy to avoid the attack thanks to the sandstorm.

Drake couldn’t help but cruse. “Dame it, I have to something about this sandstorm.” Unfortunately, there was nothing he could do, Haxrous didn’t know any move that could remove the sandstorm.

“Use metal claw again.” Excardill’s claws started to glow again and he dashed towards his opponent.

Drake had to take a chance. “Meet the attack with dragon claw.” Haxrous claws started also to glow and he ran towards his opponent.

Both attack collide and none of them move an inched, then they started to attack again and this time they managed to get some hit in their attacks. Both Pokémon keep on attack and none of them didn’t want to give up, then both of them managed to land a hit to head at the same time which send them both to the floor, they were both out.

“Both Pokémon are unable to battle, that means it’s a draw.” Said the judge.

James walk over to Excadrill who was getting up, James bend down to help his Pokémon. “I’m sorry Excadrill, I thought we could win.” Excadrill just smiled at his trainer, he wasn’t mad that he lost.

Then they saw Drake and Haxrous walking towards them. “I see that your spark is back and I’m guessing Luna is the reason for it.”

James looked over his shoulder and he saw Luna walking towards them. “You could say that.” He said with a smile.

“Just wow, that battle was amazing.” Luna told them as he approached them. “I didn’t know that the elite four would be this thought.”

“Believe me, they are.” James told her while getting up, she believe him.

Drake adjusted his hat. “Alright, I’m guessing that you two were about to head to the next island and since I was the one who challenge James, let me get you there with my ship.” He turned to the sailors. “Get this ship ready.” All sailors saluted as the walk to get the ship ready for travel.

Luna couldn’t help but wonder what would happened next.

This was amazing! Drake appearance plus the battle between him and James was great Aswell. Can’t wait to see the next chapter

That battle between Drake and James was simply awesome! This is why Drake is one of my favourite Elite Four member!
