5712223 Are you not entertained ?

Hm, strong, the MiB reference is, with this one, hmm.

First, nice MIB reference there. But I suppose that the 'black' is where the similarities end. Holy cow... :rainbowderp:

....... wow..... this was a very strong chapter. No wonder there is so much hatred on the inhabitants of the Withers against ponies.

my my my my.... what a lucky Stallion (again!) :rainbowlaugh:

Funny how many chapters I feel the urge to 'like' again xD
They should allow a system to rate the individual chapter as well as the whole story.
By the way.... Fairlight is starting some kind of herd here! Meadow, Shadow, Tingles, even LUNA for Luna's sake! Who is next!? :rainbowlaugh:

Ah.... Boys colts and their 'mine is bigger' thing.... :rainbowlaugh:
Awesome conclusion! And a big heart for not allowing that fucker rape the filly.
Also.... i'll probably find out next bit if i don't i'll ask here. Did Fairlight feed on those he killed? I do hope yes

6375836 Not with the worst of them, he does have some taste :raritywink:

homeopathic medicine

Ugh. Alternative medicine. :pinkiesick:

Piss poor planning, promotes piss poor performance

Huh. I was always told the phrase was, "Proper prior planning prevents perpetually piss poor performance."

I have the distinct impression that the Agency is holding Shadow hostage to keep Fairlight in line in case he gets sick of the killing. I would be willing to put a great deal of money on it.

Yes, dude. You have the right of it. Why do you think there have been no reports of Wendigos since ancient times? Do you REALLY think you're the first to do this in a thousand years? Highly unlikely. The others before you, after the war, they were ereased. You ARE a tool. And when you are no longer useful, you will be discarded too.

I had seen the Equestrian’s mercy today, for us, there would be none.

Well what did you expect? Seriously!? You and your mate gleefully speak of slaughtering those whom are merely defending themselves, sucking their souls to fuel your own power. Then when the tides turn and the defenders start bringing the EXACT SAME FUCKING THING YOU PLANNED FOR THEM you cry and wail about the injustice? Hypocrite much?

Ponies might be skittish, but they did not deserve to be slaughtered wantonly, as YOU were doing, and enjoying it, I might add. You have NO RIGHT to cry when the tables turn.

And Pewter is passing along knowledge laced with more hate, generational hate. Hate, hate, hate. Where does it end? It doesn't. And of course she is COMPLETELY unwilling to admit her ancestors did ANYTHING even remotely wrong or evil. Nope. Only the 'white witch' this and that. One sided, narrow minded, and despite the knowledge of history, intentionally and willfully ignorant.

Sparrow Song, beloved daughter of Meadow and Twilight. Sleep well little one.”

You mean 'Meadow and Fairlight', right? Not sure how nobody caught that one before me.

I do not approve. Luna used her position to coerce and guilt-trip Fairlight into sex. A 'blackmail bang', if you will. She also confirmed my suspicion: Fairlight is effectively a slave until he diss in the field or they execute him. He is not free to leave, they are holding him prisoner and I'm betting if he tried to leave, they would track him down and execute him. It's what government agencies do, both in story and I.R.L.

He should have killed that monster.

I can see why the second installment did not get as many likes.

It starts off strong, but more often than not our vengeance driven protagonist acts like he is a afraid of hurting anyone.

Yes there are a couple scenes where you finally let him loose, but most of the time you have him back peddling.

The story literally starts out with him talking about how they will all pay, but you then have him almost commit suicide when be finds out about Blaze...

I can understand denial, confusion, and yes sadness...however anger should have been what he ultimately ended at.

The entire momentum of the story hinges on the protagonists need for vengeance...but it seems to be lost in this second book.

It is not a bad story, but I just did not feel any real driving force with the protagonist.

He is constantly lead around, worries about harming ponies, and just overall feels lost.

One of the things I tried to get across in this and subsequent books was the internal confusion and conflict Fairlight faces as he comes to terms with what has happened to him. As the series continues, Fairlight begins to integrate more and more with the spirit and gradually accepts what he is and his part in the legacy of the wendigo. An early theme is the two sides of him warring for dominance: his training in the watch to protect life, and his wendigo self that is a near polar opposite. In fairness, book two of Fairlight is probably my least favourite of the series and was influenced by some of the more negative comments I'd had from people regarding the first book. The following books, Fortress of the four winds and Blood of the foal are my personal faves as these focus on his journey to realising his true potential and unfolding destiny. I think they're a lot better written too!

The final book in the Fairlight series is in production now and changes pace again, with the focus on his family life in the first part, yet takes him into an intrigue based world where he will face some serious challenges before finally having the showdown with Velvet and the Commissioner. This latest story will be a lead in for the finale that ties in with the 'When the snow melts' story arc.

The last planned story will be based around the return of the Crystal Empire, and bring back characters such as Chalk Dust and the crew, Twilight, the princesses, and others as war looms with King Sombra and Vela.

I'm going to be re-writing the Fairlight series when this latest book is finished as I think that breaking them up into smaller books has lost something of the flow of the overall story. Book two should be looked at as a part of his journey, not the conclusion to it. That was my fault as a new writer!

Thank you so much for reading my stories. It's always good to receive feedback and if you have any suggestions or comments, they are always gratefully received! :twilightsheepish:

Kind Regards,

Bluespectre

I like this side of fairlight... What does that say about my mental stability? :rainbowhuh:

I really liked the roll out of the moving chariot in the water technique. Sounds like some James Bond's style maneuver.
