Loving the direction of this. Which is odd because I hate canon DT with a burning passion, and most 'redemption' fics basically defend what she did or tone it down, just seeming like a whimsical, naughty filly instead of the inhuman monster she was. This acknowledges that, shows some of the results, and she's learning to become better to try and make up for what she's done. A good and proper redemption instead of DT fan-wank. I am impressed.
Chapter 14, Aura is a prime example of those whose scars never healed. The ones who never moved on. The ones who chose to live in the past then appreciate what they have and can achieve in the now. I only feel pity toward Aura in that she had so much in front of her, a dream within reach, and the grudge she held her whole life became more important than that dream. Exacting that one sick diseased desire to get this sort of REVENGE on her foalhood bully.
What did Diamond do? Did just making fun of her name with Oral really have that much of an impact to last 10 years? Enough to drive somepony to want to KILL someone? People call DT 'inhumane' but Aura is the real monster. She instigates, she refuses to ever consider that maybe that schoolyard foal maybe did some growing up over the years, sabotaged the wires to fall on DT, stole something that meant a lot to DT and instigated more, and finally when given the chance this pony went above and beyond to try and kill Diamond.
Quite honestly how I see a lot of those death wishing bronies would turn out later in life or would do if given a chance with a real sort of a chance that they wouldn't get caught if they took a person's life away just because they got made fun of so long ago.
Still, no idea what this DT did to Aura. What affects her teasing led others to do indirectly or because of her, to Aura. Is Aura just blowing things out of proportions? Did she lose anything important or got raped because of DT? What goes on inside Aura's head?
I'm still just seeing a small pink filly from the show who made fun of the CMC for being weird or destructive cutie mark obsessed ponies who didn't make the smartest of decisions all too often. Despite all that I've seen on the show, I can't imagine her being remotely 'inhumane' and 'monstrous' as many who may be victims of bullying seem to project onto her.
Why? Maybe because I'm not such a sheltered individual and my bullies were more those who did things beyond what DT has ever been seen to do, one who mostly takes a small pot shot and trots away for the most part. I don't have enough context as many of those others out there who seem to have 'more experience' in being abused apparently, because if what DT does is enough to think it warrants her death or anyone that calls you names, a good lot of you sheltered types would likely have killed yourselves with the bullies I grew up with long ago.
No one is going to fight your battles for you. Stand up and take a stand. But don't go turning into them.
That 15th chapter. So much feels. Father daughter moments like that are so powerful. Certainly don't get enough Filthy Rich on this site. No character tag doesn't help that either.
All the feels. Wish we got to see more Twilight this chapter. Or saw more expressions. But it's easy to guess. Wonderful chapter.
Should have saved last chapter's comment for this chapter. I completely agree. Diamond Tiara is fucking pleb-tier bully. Projection is a good explanation for why everyone seems to overestimate her evil-ness. She's not evil, she's just a rich brat with daddy issues.
This was not something she was ready for. In fact, it was something she really did not want to do. Not quite the last thing she wanted to do, but it was pretty close to it. Just above having a cheese grater ran across her plot.
Why would you even CONTEMPLATE that?!
"I'm not giving you an order as a princess," she stated. "I am asking you to do this favor as a friend."
I see.
"I don't believe that," the princess said. "A big change was happening, and he was scared. He said something he didn't mean in the hope of somehow getting you to stay."
I want to think so too.
"...Thank you..." she said. It felt kind of weird to say. Thanking ponies was not something she normally did (if ever), especially a pony that she thought of as beneath her, such as her father's employees. She never really got to know anything about them, did she. One of the previous secretaries had worked for him for years, Diamond Tiara had met her pretty regularly, and now she could not for the life of her remember the mare's name.
I see.
The familiar voice made Filthy Rich stop, looking up from his papers. He smiled at the sight of his daughter. "Diamond Tiara," he said as he got up, moving toward her. He wrapped his front legs around her. "Hi, dad." She returned the hug, smiling as she felt the familiar touch.
Daaaaw.
"Thank you," Filthy Rich said before placing the box on the desk. "And don't you worry about that cut. with the finest surgeons and healing magic, and there won't even be a scar. Can't have you taking over the company looking like that, can we?"
*sigh*
"But..." He turned around to face her. "Sweetie, you're not a fighter. Look at what's happened to you just in training. If something like that can happen there, just imagine what could possibly happen to you when you're actually out on duty." "Dad-" "No," Filthy Rich said to cut her off. "No child of mine is putting herself in danger -- not even for a princess -- and that is final."
She's an adult now, Mr Rich. I'm also sensing something deeper here, what do you have against her joining the Guard?
"But..." he sighed and looked at her. "You're my daughter. My only daughter." He reached up, placing a hoof against her chin. "You are the most important thing in my life, the one thing I am proudest of having a part in. I don't want to see you get hurt, to say nothing about..."
Or maybe he just really loves her.
"When I joined, it was because I wanted to do something brave and heroic. Now, there's more to it. I can't change what I've done, but if I help other ponies -- protect other ponies -- then maybe I can make some amends. Maybe I can deserve that forgiveness that I've already been given, and starting earning the forgiveness of others." Including my own.
I see.
With a grin, Diamond Tiara walked over to the desk, pulled a cupcake out of the box, and shoved it in her eye. "I promise."
After talking the matter over with multiple ponies, and having a sleepless night of contemplation while being cuddled, Diamond Tiara had decided to go through with it. It was not really a price to pay for the princess helping since (as it was explained to her) Twilight was willing to help any pony. Still, this was something she was asked to do in return, and a part of being an adult is paying debts (her father had told her, repeatedly).
Awwwwww.
So heart warming.
I knew Deets had it in her to not be a horrible pony. I'm glad to see this sight of her.
The first ever LITERAL Pinky Promise. Now all she has to do is learn to fly and shes golden.
That is a very good thing that Diamond Tiara and her father were reconciled.
Once again, good plot execution.
Please show what will happen to Aura in the next chapter?

Liking this story a lot so far. Its not often you get a story where the main character is a good DT
Aww I'm glad they could reconcile.
4950451 Nope, Pinkie did it in Pinkie Pride.

4953480 aura seemed to exibit some of the tendency's of a low functioning psycopath (they can be out in public but... they can break easily)

I'm not sure if asking Twilight to see if she can help Aura won't blow up in Diamond's face. We'll just have to see.
