Horizon Runner

Among the living on a trial basis.

Where there's life, there's change.

Be that comforting or terrifying, it remains true. Equestria has been unchanged for a long time, and now the gears come unstuck with a single, mighty blow. One age ends, another begins.

But even after tragedy impossible, life continues on the streets. In the grand scheme, a single pony will be remembered only by the mark they leave, be they a ruler of the world, a faithful student thrust suddenly into the light, a soldier loyal to a vanished master, or a simple cellist with a run of bad luck.

For just as life begets change, so do the living beget the future.

Tied to Letters to the Sun, but both stand independent.

Special shout out to Benny for pre-reading/editing and coming up with the title. His brilliance is more astounding than the sun.

4806881 God damn it.

How did I not connect that sooner? I know EXACTLY what you're talking about (I've written around six separate essays on Shakespearean tragedies alone) but somehow my brain did not connect the "tragedy" tag to the actual concept of a tragic story. I've been using it to refer to a pivotal tragedy that occurs within the story... which isn't the same thing by a long shot.

Thanks for catching this. I've got two tag lists to edit now.

Also: I wish Romeo and Juliet laws would stop being a thing. They're a symptom of the goofy idea we have that says you can only date/sex/marry one person in your entire life... which would be an okay ideal to have in our culture if anyone ever followed it.

5274601 Why thank you sir! I certainly hope I live up to your trust.

Oooh, I'm glad I was stubborn and stayed up to read this. Keep it up!

Well. This is certainly something new. :rainbowderp:
...

I like it. :pinkiehappy:

Kick his butt, Octavia! I don't know what the heck this has to do with the death of Celestia, but kick his sorry sleazy butt! Yaaaa!

Ahem.

a bridged-eighth note

Wouldn't that be two beamed eighth notes?

I'm liking this story so far. I do like good Octavia stories, and you do have me curious as to where this story will go. I did notice something that caught my eye on this chapter.

Octavia looked over, and her eyes fell on an stallion.

It should be "a" instead of "an" in this instance.

Other than that, I didn't find any other errors that stuck out. Anyway, great work!
