Interesting concept. Thought it would suck at first, but the more I went into the story the better image you've created of this guy. Sure he enjoys hurting people, but it seems this stems from a childhood full of abuse. You've captured the concept of a paraphilia perfectly, which is a very good author trait to have. Not being a paraphilia, but the ability to enter the psyche of any type of person and write their thoughts.
