What a sick and twisted idea - I like it!
I was thinking about some constructive comment about plot, but during the prologue I was mainly like "oh crap..." Generally it was a good idea to show the tortures only by sounds heard by Twilight - letting the reader's imagination work, and make a picture grimer than any graphic description...
History is written by the winners... (there was a nice Lord of The Ring fanfic called "The last Ringbearer", revolving around this topic)

I tried writing out the torture scene at one point. It was a great writing exercise, but it really took away from the story, IMO. So I took it out, I like how it turned out much better. The less you know, the scarier it becomes
And that is generally true! What's a rebellion and what is a revolution is determined by who wins. Also, I'll check out that story when I get some time. If that ever happens...
