Cheese Sandwich had always loved being the traveling party pony he was. He'd been doing it for nearly forty years, but still had the energy and joy in his heart to continue. There was no challenge he couldn't overcome, no party he couldn't throw, and no pony he would disappoint. There was something to be said for the ponies that had ‘boring’ cutie marks, mostly that there were quite a few. Which, considering the generally cheerful and energetic color palette of Equis, might almost seem discordant with an implied status quo.

Toward the tail end of the wrap-up for Rainbow Dash's birth-iversary, Pinkie Pie is about ready to dive-bomb into bed and forget all about the day's emotional roller-coaster.

She finds Cheese Sandwich's rubber chicken friend amidst the clean-up chaos, and a tight hug unexpectedly forces Boneless to upchuck a tiny note ... addressed to her. It's not exactly the kind of note she'd expect from him.

Little Tomato Sandwich has a bunch of friends! Every day he's invited to their homes or whatever outings said friends were going on. He's allowed to go--as long as he gets his homework done.

But each outing feels incomplete without his big brother Cheese, and so he implores him to join them.

And each time, the answer is "No."

But little Tommy will not be discouraged, as he continues to ask his increasingly reclusive brother to at least show his friends why he considers him his best friend.

Persephone Gaia Blake is stuck in a bit of a rut.

While all her friends are off following their respective dreams, she's stuck listlessly working at her hippie mother's witchy souvenir shop, peddling crystals and tarot decks to Salem tourists. She doesn’t believe in any of the ‘magic’ nonsense that the city prides itself on promoting to visitors, but she sucks it up to keep the cash flowing and her mother happy. It’s not like she has anything else going on in her life.

Thank goodness her and her friends’ 25th birthday is here to change all that. But is it a change for good?

A spinoff of "Five Score, Divided by Four" by TwistedSpectrum. This story follows the updated mature version set in 2020 where MLP got all 9 seasons (albeit with an alternate ending). You should probably check out that first if you want some general understanding of the world, though I don’t think you have to to understand what’s going on. Up to you!
