HELLO EVERYPONY, I'M NOT DEAD!
I know it's been, checks notes, 71/2 MONTHS!?
I think its time for a couple updates then, huh?

HELLO EVERYPONY, I'M NOT DEAD!
I know it's been, checks notes, 71/2 MONTHS!?
I think its time for a couple updates then, huh?
First of all, IRL:
After a couple false starts, I finally figured out how I’m going to fix the last Midnight Rising chapter and am attacking it with gusto now, though I’ve also been sparing some time to tweak the new Eros chapter that is only awaiting its final prereads.
So yeah, I'm not dead, and I didn't stop writing. But I did have almost an entire year that I was working overtime almost every day. So yeah, it was a bit rough for a while and I didn't have a whole lot of free time. I still wrote when I could, but then my other problem came into play. I've got almost thirty chapters, probably around 200,000 words or so written... spread through about seven or eight different stories.
Nova gave me a small note on my new change and I resolved to add a quick line...
...Yeah, and then THIS happened:
“After dinner!” Twilight Velvet said quickly. “We’ll come right back, I promise!”
"Yeah! Portals can wait!” Night Light shouted from the rolled-down, driver’s side window of a silver sedan. “Our daughter needs friends that aren’t four-legged!"
“HONEY!” Twilight Velvet hissed. “Don’t say stuff like that out loud! We TALKED about this!”
Caught a comment from Nova which was inspired by a suggestion from Steel Resolve AFTER I published. I had to go back and expand on a scene. For all those who got on that Mother of Midnight train super early, here's the addition:
“Please-have-dinner-with-us-tonight!” Twilight Velvet blurted out.
“Well, I mean, there’s still that hole—”
**BREAKING** ***STOP SCROLLING NOW AND READ THIS***
If you haven't submitted your entry to my CUDDLEFIC CONTEST, you are running out of time! Publish your stories NOW, because the deadline is midnight tonight!!!!!!!!!
I’ll be honest, folks. I’ve been having a very hard time getting back in the groove for Midnight Rising, as I find I can only do a few hundred words of it per day. I’ve got 4000 words down and there a couple parts I like, but the meat of the scene is just not coming quickly. Reading back over the previous chapter, I was actually impressed at how well it came out, and trying to both continue and surpass it... well, it’s a tall order, doubly so since I have to set the scene for what
I'm close to finished. I intend to have it draft complete tonight, meaning release should follow in the next couple days, once prereaders have their say and I do my customary couple editing passes, which I do by listening to it recited back to me with the site's voice narration feature. You'd be surprised how many issues you catch and fix by doing that, from missing and misspelled words to just questions of word choice and sentence flow.
Of Firefly and Midnight Rising. We’re going to see if I can crash the feature board with not one but two featureable stories. Prereads are in and I have one more editing pass to do on both, then they’re good to go. Can’t offer up much in a way of teasers right now, except maybe the campaign map I made for the new Firefly chapter:
Titled “Upper Crusted” and sitting at 7.5k words long, it’s with prereaders now. The chapter will go live when they’re done with it and I’ve completed my usual pair of editing passes, most likely tomorrow. As promised, the chapter centers around Midnight’s punishment of Upper Crust but starts with the well-earned ending of the Pinkie/Ember scene.
Pun sadly intended. I started writing a new Midnight Rising chapter on Saturday, and so far it’s not been a struggle at all, with over 5600 words already down on it. But then again, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, given it involves a race near and dear to my writer heart—the griffons. You’ll get to see Midnight as she educates herself on the Kingdom and griffon anatomy along with their rather unique concepts of sensuality, with perhaps a minor assist from Juniper Neptune.
It’s with prereaders and currently weighing in at almost exactly 10k words—and that’s only after I decided to remove the trailing 4500 words to save for the next chapter. Yeah, it was getting too big too quickly, but at least writing the chapter following won’t take as long.
Now that this story has finished its run and has officially received slightly more views than Soul Vernacular gets in a year, it’s time to talk about it.
A warm welcome to any and all new Feathered Hearts readers, folks, whether you read Eros or just Continuation and Chronicles. I hate calling those two latest Eros chapters an ordeal, but they were at times simply for much I was trying to do and how much I wanted to include, both in terms of sex and worldbuilding. It took over a month to write what ended up being all 25,000 words, though it seems to have turned out well in the end.
I remembered there was something named "the children of Nightmare" mentioned in the time war, and I got an idea for a story about nightmare moon being a survivor of the great time war.
This is story concept based on that idea.
The Nightmare was that entity. It ran away from the center of the time war and landed on Equestria.
Nightmare, just like most doctor who’s villains, was an entity incapable of feeling some emotion that humans and ponies could, such as empathy, love, etc.
First and foremost, 🎇Happy New Year, folks! 🎇And second, the first preread of C&C Chapter 38 is in and favorable, courtesy of Silentwoodfire—thanks, SWF. Hopefully the rest will be as well. But while we’re waiting for that, I’d like to go back to Eros for a bit, both to work on and wonder if I made a mistake by releasing the first part of the new Changeling arc as one big chapter.
I’ve given them a week to hit it, and I’ve already started into into a brand new chapter, with the first 500 words down. At long last—and sorry again for the long sideshow there; I will address that directly in the first part of the text as Sunset gets dinged by creative writing instructor Ms. Cherilee for letting her narration lose focus—it’s time for Midnight to deal with Lemon Zest. Probably going to be a two-parter this go-around, but we’ll see.
While I've been working on little bits here and there unrelated to Mind Over Midnight, I've been having difficulties. Nothing really sticks, well nothing that isn't a big long epic in my head and right now I want little palate cleansers.
It's been years since I written anything with this series, but I finally have a solid conclusive story to end it.
I'm actually super happy about it, and excited to write it.
I've written the first story back in 2018 (on Fanfictiondotnet), so hopefully I will have it finalized by the end of the year! Fixing some of the previous chapters with some mistakes I have, and making sure the grammar is good and understandable.
Welcome, new Unleash the Magic: Midnight Rising readers!!!
