Midnight Rising update · 10:16pm Feb 28th, 2022
I’ll be honest, folks. I’ve been having a very hard time getting back in the groove for Midnight Rising, as I find I can only do a few hundred words of it per day. I’ve got 4000 words down and there a couple parts I like, but the meat of the scene is just not coming quickly. Reading back over the previous chapter, I was actually impressed at how well it came out, and trying to both continue and surpass it... well, it’s a tall order, doubly so since I have to set the scene for what follows.
After this, there will be a one-chapter interlude before Lemon Zest as I introduce the griffies to the story. There’s a major scene in both Midnight Rising and later on in Nightmare Night that I want to set up, and it’s getting to those scenes that’s motivating me now. For those of you who have followed Feathered Hearts, the Gryphon Kingdom’s Hall of Heroes will feature prominently in both. After months on that story, I really do have griffies on the brain. And both Gilda and Fortrakt will appear in both stories later, though I emphasis this is not the same verse.
I’m going to aim to have the chapter finished and ready to go this weekend, with an eye on a Saturday night or Sunday morning launch. After that, comes the next installment of Harmonic Resonance, and then back to Firefly again.
