The end is here. The game is over!
The end is here. The game is over!
From Slate's Dear Prudence column:
(I support it, for the record. Treat people the way they want to be treated and be an adult about it.)
I've still been here, reading and laughing, crying and smirking, and all the wonderful emotions that come from fimfiction. I haven't really been part of the community as I'd like to be, however I've made friends along the way, and memories too! It's come to that part of my life where I have to evaluate where I'm choosing to invest my soul into, from work to hobbies, dreams and aspirations... And I've come to one of many conclusions... Fimfiction, thanks for everything. Bronies. The whole
I haven't been able to write (or do) hardly anything in months, even though I'm off during the Summer and stuck inside. At first I thought it was mental illness, but much of it's still physical, and I don't quite know where the separation twixt the two lies.
Also, the brony world appears to have descended into chaos.
Spike gets called by the Dragon Lord to compete for the...Bloodstone?! Dammit Michelle!
Also see how I escaped my horrible, fiery death!
From left to right...
1; Ziva (my little brother's dog / Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Originally bred as a nanny dog, has babysat puppies during my time as a breeder, has also babysat kittens, is clumsy and greedy but shows much affection towards people and children)
I know you're all hiding out there somewhere! I'm not the only one!
The year is 2013. Season Three of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has finished, the first Equestria Girls movie has released to a middling reception, and BronyCon has moved out of its New York City hometown to its new home, Baltimore. The overall sensation in the Brony fandom is that of change: a princess Twilight instead of a unicorn, a new group of human characters to parallel the Equestrian ones, and, though it is more a vague sensation than a firm recognizance on the
TW: p@do alert
I don't know if I allow to post this here, tho I think I might put it here to warn others.
I was just scrolling through Devieanart, till I spotted this warning:
https://www.deviantart.com/creedyboy124/status-update/Bad-News-Infamous-Fluffle-Puff-1040972513
Apparently a creator by the name of Fluffle Puff was caught doing nasty gross acts towards minors...
Like, WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL?!
HOW HARD IS IT TO NOT TOUCH OR DO GROSS THINGS TO MINORS?!
I'm not usually one to contemplate fandom eschatology, but over the last few fimfic archive updates I've been noticing that the average words added each day to FiMfiction has been slowly decreasing. I thought I was witnessing the fandom lose steam as the number of words of fanfic it produced slows down.
But then this last fimfic archive update hit and I couldn't have been more wrong.
So I've gone over my previous blog about the scuffle between me and my dad the other day, and I've gone pretty much near teary-eyed at how many of you who commented on that blog had similar troubles involving your own fathers and bullies.
My moment of pride feels so insignificant now after I read some of the problems you have all had yourselves. And I just...I just feel...saddened.
Month of Macabre is a month-long celebration of all things spooky and spectacular! This month I'll be releasing (among other things) four videos celebrating my favourite darkfic author: Horse Voice!
This week we kick off with Johnny Never Knew What Hit Him:
And now, now it is time for 3 more stories:
Sillen by John_Wheel
Supermoon by Doctor Disco
What's Wrong With the Cutie Map? by Jay-The-Brony
So today, today I have another three. One of them, however, is the sequel to something I did a little while ago:
My Little Changeling: Friendship is Weird by Niaeruzu
Rainbow's Bad Fanfic by Jay-The-Brony
Fluttershy's Nice Fanfic by Jay-The-Brony
Everypony,
After that blog I did two days ago, I told myself: "No, I won't blog anything. I can resist blogging."
Ha.
tl;dr -- I gush about how my family has embraced MLP, I worry about life lessons for my son via ponies, and I dread the future of our favorite cartoon.
I was going to be more indirect, but I just want to get this off my chest: I never want to read an HiE story featuring "nondescript brony in Equestria" or "'wannabe genre-savvy "non-brony" who nevertheless knows about the show' in Equestria". Ever. The entire class of HiE work where the human is aware of MLP as an animated production is basically a write-off, as far as I'm concerned.
What's the appeal? What's even the point?
