A graph showing total views, in 3-hour bins, for all stories under one-half-week old, for the past week.
I generated this by reading the last 5 pages of the story index (lists view counts for the last 1000 stories) every half-hour for a week:

Some time in the last few weeks, Fimfiction has overtaken HarryPotterFanfiction.com in terms of story count, both total and completed. I don't now know of another single-fandom fanfic archive which hosts more stories. For any fandom, anywhere. I certainly can't find one on TV Tropes' Single Fandom Archives page that can beat Fimfiction's numbers. I am impressed.
There's something very interesting about a site that exists purely to host fanfiction for a very particular franchise and to find it as sophisticated as FIMFiction is.
I mean this isn't even an "MLP fanfic site", it's SPECIFICALLY a Gen 4 MLP fanfic site. Granted Gen 4 is probably bigger than MLP has ever been in its illustrious history but even so, we've only had it around since 2010.
Estee made this fascinating post earlier, so I thought I'd do something similar, albeit not as quite such length. One thing I've only just realised is that the Nemryn who Estee discusses in the intro to that post is in fact the same person who won January's
(This one.) As various people have noted in the comments, it seems that leaving a comment on someone's userpage thanking them for (eg) faving a story may well be treated as spam, rather than courtesy. Several authors considerably more experienced than me seem to be unsure about this, so for the moment I see no alternative but to err on the side of caution. As such, I won't explicitly thank you for a fave or
1. write a half assed clopfic with minimum effort.
2. find an extremely nsfw picture, crop it out and only leave the pony's face and /or plot[bonus points if the pony is moaning]
3. set your nsfw cropped pic as your cover art
4. post fic
5. wait for countless of waves of 13 yr olds to fave your story
There's been a lot of negativity lately. But what do you love about fimfiction?
The main reason I love this site is that it is my one-stop shop for sapient interspecies romance for human x pony stories. I'm sure there are other sites I could find such a thing, but not so much in the human x pony department. The site has really nice saucy stories overall. There are even dark and edgy stories if I want to read them.
the archive.org page from august of 2011 is very broken in every way:

Okay, I really need to get my thoughts out there on this.
A bunch of people have these lists on their page, "friends lists", listing people that they're friends with. And honestly they're just really stupid and hurtful. Just think for a moment. What's the benefit? To show that you have friends? To maybe hope that people will click on those names and follow them? To boost the egos of your friends? Well, that's all good and dandy, but it's also just really dumb and really hurtful.
(Yes, I have seen the film trailer. This isn't about that.)
No. I am NOT leaving this site. But do any of you know of an alternative to Fimfiction?
Since it's good have a backup site for your stories.
So, I posted chapter two about a week ago. I watched the front page to see it appear there under updated fics, but it never did. I shrugged it off as odd, but I wasn't about to worry about it.
Today, as I checked for some potential formatting issues for the upcoming third chapter, I noticed that the second chapter has a publish date of Sept 21st, which is almost two weeks before the fic itself went live!
I’ve been on the site for a whole year now. Happy Anniversary to me!
