For Celestia, living forever isn't her curse. If immortality only include eternal life, she could handle that. What she can't deal with are the memories, or lack thereof. When her past escapes her day by day as the centuries progress, what will she have left?

Once upon a time, there was a pony. Her name was Celestia, and her purpose was to initiate a series of events which would ultimately result in in the production, encouragement, and maintenance of harmony in the world. This series of events started with eating grass.

This story is a sequel to Rebellion of the Moon

Something unbelievable had happened. Luna in her Nightmare Moon form is banished on the moon. She cannot believe it. But now regret fills her for Luna had lost her own sister. She is drowning in her own sorrow and doubt, which is placed by Nightmare Moon.
Celestia too struggles with the events. She is heartbroken for her own sister had betrayed her. But as the time goes by, Celestia tries to find out not what has happened, but why it had happened. For she has to know, what was her role in the tragedy of her sister. As if that is not enough, Celestia has to find a way, her nation can remember Nightmare Moon without denying Luna. But how can you remember a tragedy like this?

The battle that defined history for hundreds of years. It is easy from a modern perspective to assume the outcome was certain; that Princess Celestia would be victorious over the deranged Nightmare Moon. The universal constant of good triumphing over evil is all but set in stone now, but in the battle these titans waged, the future was impenetrably murky. Would the day ever shine its warm rays again, or would cold, dark, unforgiving night rise and never end?

This is an appendix to A Journey Unthought of: A man's life in Equestria, however it can be treated as its own stand alone story that enhances the established canon of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. This story was written before the Season 4 Premiere took place.

Celestia must overcome her dark past to face an old evil threatening Equestria. Will she be able to overcome what she has lost? Will she be able to fight for a brighter day? With the support of her sister Luna and her student Twilight, Celestia will face the scars of her past, and fight for a more radiant tomorrow.

Waking up. Some of us hate it, some of us don't. None of these matter to Princess Celestia. As co-ruler of Equestria, raising the sun has been one her important and favorite duties.
