Sunset may be proud and brash, and Twilight might be obsessive and oblivious at times, but surely they'll get along fine, right?

They'll go above and beyond that in time, but the road they'll take to get there is a rocky one.

Sunset should be happy. She's completely reformed from her old ways, help saved the human world multiple times, and has many friends she considers closer than family. And yet, underneath all the good she now has, some part of her can't help but feel like she hasn't truly earned it. She hides this feeling well, even from herself at times, but when she suspects that one of her new friends is struck with the same feeling, she'll find that she can't ignore the truth that's right in front of her. And maybe she'll find that mutual feelings mean more than she could have ever expected...

Once again, not planning to win anything with this story, just wanted to add my humble submission to glorious sunwaifu the contest. Just the contest...

Edit: Okay, so I just took a second look at the contest page and I noticed something I completely skipped over when originally reading the contest. Apparently there was an actual prompt we were supposed to follow when writing... Which I totally and accidentally ignored and did not use in the slightest. Whoops. Ah well, way too late to fix it now and to be honest trying to shoe-horn that in there would have been really annoying anyway with all the other stuff I had in mind. So meh, if it disqualifies me from consideration then so be it. I hope you guys enjoy the story anyway.

It's the last day of winter and Sweetie Belle is all the glad for it. She's had enough of the cold and snow, but when Rarity goes out on a date, she asks Sunset Shimmer to watch Sweetie Belle.

As feelings rise and bloom, the snowy night brings about the greatest warmth two people can find with one another.

As the last vestiges of winter give way to the warmth of spring, the cherry blossom trees at the Canterlot Royal Botanical Gardens begin to bloom. In celebration of this, a festival is held outside the Gardens, featuring food, games and capped off by a fireworks display.

This year, however, the cherry blossoms aren't the only things to blossom, as Sunset Shimmer will soon discover.
