Rainbow Dash had exactly what she wanted, and all it took was one freak accident to take it away. In an instant, her life was changed and she lost everything she had worked for.

Now a half year has passed. Life is simply something that she goes through now, instead of something that she eagerly looks forward to each day. And her friend, Applejack, has been bothering her about some sort of surprise for a while now.

Rainbow Dash hates surprises.

Pregnancy is hard. Not just for the mares, but for the stallions as well.

After one mishap, what started off as a romantic night for Rainbow Dash and Soarin' will shape the rest of their lives forever.

That'd be all fine and dandy for Rainbow Dash, but Soarin' isn't making things any better for himself when he keeps uttering the same word that annoys Rainbow to no end.

"Sorry", and its other variation, "I'm sorry."

Rainbow Dash was the Iron Wing. She was a war hero, the Slayer of Shadows, the Liberator of the Crystal Empire, the Wrath of Celestia. And depending on who you ask, she still is.

But the war is over. There's little need for a pony like her in peacetime. So she keeps telling herself that she needs to adjust, that she needs to find a new role to fill in the world that she saved. But Equestria seems content to let her remain what she has become, even though they have no need of a warrior.

"This isn't how it's supposed to be", is something she keeps telling herself. But every time she says it, the only thing she can reply is, "so what should it be?"

One whole year after the close of the war, and Rainbow Dash still doesn't have the answer.

On an otherwise ordinary day at Sweet Apple Acres, Rainbow Dash unexpectedly demands the use of Applejack's barn for a day. Of course Applejack agrees to help out, but something's up; Dash is trying to handle everything herself, arrange for the Apples to be out in the fields, and doing her best to make sure neither Rarity nor Pinkie even hear about the whole thing. With her suspicions rising by the minute, the farmer goes to confront her friend and discovers something she never suspected...

Rainbow Dash means the world to Scootaloo, who wants nothing more than to spend every day with her surrogate sister, learning from the best and being awesome together. Yet all that is about to end, possibly forever, and Scootaloo knows there's nothing she can do about it.

The only thing left to do is say goodbye... but that's proving far harder than she ever imagined.

The war between the night and the day grinds on. Ponies on both sides face horrifying odds in a seemingly endless war. For Rainbow Dash and Soarin these facts are too real. Despite this fact, the two ponies managed to carve out a small space of calm in the midst of all the chaos. But nothing is guaranteed on the battlefield especially when duty and compassion run against each other.

After a family bereavement, Rainbow Dash is now as lonely and distraught as ever. With only her friends, she feels something is missing, something that left her 15 years ago. Something she never forgot, and something she hopes will return.
