Fluttershy disappears into the Everfree Forest. Her friends, led by an incredibly concerned Pinkie Pie, search for her tirelessly. But her motives for leaving without a trace are unbeknownst to them.

This is based on Swallow the Sun's song "Plague of Butterflies", but in prose form.

When Octavia finished her concert and headed into her dressing room, she had no idea that only a few seconds later, one simple knock on the door would change her life forever. She would meet a rather strange and unfamiliar mare for the first time. At first, Octavia wants nothing to do with this seemingly annoying and madly mannered pony, but she wouldn't realize until later that they would one day be a large, and important, part of her life.

All young must grow old. All old must eventually die. Ponies are no exception. And death is ignorant of friendship, so each friend usually dies alone, leaving their other friends to weep as they themselves wait for the absolution to possibly join their friends. Twilight is the last of her pony friends to go. And Spike, being a dragon, must watch as the only mother he's known say her final words.

As the sun gives way to the night, a pegasus knocks on a window. She has a secret. One that, if revealed, would shame her forever. Yet she can't stay away.
