After a tragic accident claims the lives of Fluttershy and Big Macintosh, Twilight Sparkle begins to grow distant from her remaining friends. She locks herself in her castle and spends her life working on a cure for aging in the hopes her remaining friends can be saved.

Meanwhile, Pinkie Pie comes up with an idea for the best surprise ever. For three years she works in secret on a surprise for Twilight Sparkle. But Twilight's gift won't be revealed until the last of her friends has passed away.

What kind of surprise could possibly make up for the loss of your best friends?

After the rousing success of her first party, bringing joy to her parents and sisters, Pinkie Pie left her home to teach that joy to others. On her first day in Ponyville she stumbles across a struggling Sugarcube Corner, and resolves to help out the business.

In some normal morning, Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash have their world turned upside down when they are invited to the funeral of Maud Pie. The only thing they want to do is to comfort Pinkie Pie and make sure she is alright. But when they go to the funeral and see a party, they just don't know how to react to it.

For a change of pace the mane six have their pony-pet playdate at night. Since they all have their pets with them the topic of conversation quickly latches onto the origins of how each of them got their pets.

Many years have passed, the mane 6, except Twilight, have grown to be elders, and the CMC have acquired their cutie marks. Except Scootaloo. She's learned to fly, but has yet to got any sort of mark on her flank, except a few bruises here and there.

For over a hundred years, Princess Celestia has taken the time to read a few letters that some fillies and colts send her at the end of each school year. Most of the letters bring a smile to her face; there's nothing like the wondering, wonderful mind of a child after all.

Rainbow Dash's pet, Tank, was killed by a unicorn, who decided a lighting spell was best to practice in the open.

How can she live with this injustice? How can she live with her unicorn friends?
