The heroic life isn't necessarily glamorous. Ben didn't get to fight the most recent alien to pop out of a pocket wormhole, because it collapsed shortly after arrival. The weird quadruped (a hand at the end of its tail, eyes where its nostrils should be) is currently doing nothing more than sleeping the trip off. But the Plumbers need to know what it's doing here -- and as long as it's asleep, there's only one means of interrogation available. Which requires using one of his least-favorite forms, but... that's the heroic life for you.

It's just that someone's already invaded that alien's dream.

And she has no problems with telling Ben how bad he is at it.

There are an innumerable amount of worlds Sunset could have been sent to. Fewer where she kept her magic. Even fewer that have others with powers. In fact there's full teams of heroes and villains in this world. But Sunset's never really been much of a team player. She stayed on her own, under the radar as she built herself up from nothing.

One night though, things go wrong and she starts attracting attention.

Sunset has reached the point of no return. Life has torn her down enough to believe it’s worthless and pointless to keep going.

Sugarcoat is determined to change Sunset’s mind and do what she can to save the life of the person who’s stopped believing life will get better.

Thanks to Twilight Sparkle and her friends, Equestria has known its longest period of peace! Except for the reoccurring existential threats. And if you ignore that thousand years when the Elements of Harmony weren't needed.

Well, that time is over. A new villain has come to tame the mythical land of magical horses. Or, well, he's there at least. Equestria has a way of taming itself.

Being framed by a Mystable user and hated by everyone, Sunset Shimmer runs off back into her apartment. Her door bumps into something half way and discovers an unknown chest, along with the card decks inside as well. Unbeknownst to her however, the first deck Sunset picked up have somehow chosen her of being the new Dark Signer leader as she uses the other decks to find more people to join her side and figure out on what to do next. Perhaps seek revenge on those who've wronged her or maybe something else.
