When Twilight received a letter from Luna informing her of Princess Celestia's death, she had no idea what to expect. However, nothing could have prepared her for what followed.

Zecora goes shopping in Ponyville and runs into Applejack and Rainbow Dash. She decides to join them for lunch at the Cafe, but they keep asking her about a hypothetical apple. The perimeters are that she can't use more than one word, and this idea goes over her head.

Applejack comes across a Pinkie duplicate hiding beneath her barn wreckage. But, somehow, this one is different than all the others. She calls herself Pinkamena. Takes place right after Too Many Pinkie Pies.
