Summer has finally come and the school doors are locked. Having decided not to pass time turning their thumbs all day. The girls from CHS decide to head to the mall to find a summer job which will help them gather up some greens for a trip to the beach they have in mind. Too bad that the only jobs they find will will get them into serious trouble.

The warmth of the summer finally fills the air and every filly and colt in the city of Canterlot is looking forward for the Summer Sun celebration, especially a little pony, called Sunset. Little does she know that very occasion would be the beginning of a new life for her.

After midnight, Spike wanders the streets, meeting some familiar friends.

Twilight contemplates how long her assistant will remain a child.

It's the end, but before you begin, you have a cup of tea with Princess Celestia.

Anon-a-miss, the mysterious gossiper, plagues CHS. Caught as the perfect scapegoat, Sunset finds herself more shunned than ever before. While determined to clear her name, Sunset decides that first she needs a break. From everything. Back in the place she used to call home.

But as soon as Sunset leaves, her friends at CHS realize the depth of their mistake. Not just in accusing Sunset, but also in forgetting Sunset is not like any other human. As they try with all their might to earn back their friend's trust, they quickly come to learn that they know very little about Sunset and the world she hails from.

And worse for the girls, as Sunset begins to pick up the shards of her old life in Equestria, she begins to wonder whether she really wants to stay at CHS at all.

Sunset Shimmer visited Equestria over her summer break, spent time with Twilight and her friends, and had realized that ponies were missing something vital.
Hobbies.
She'd known that Equestrians did have hobbies, but she was hard-pressed to find a pony whose favorite thing to do was not in their job description.
So she had taken it upon herself to teach each of the Mane Six something that Sunset herself liked to do.

When do you say goodbye to a friend? Is it when they leave or when you have forgotten them? If you hold your friends close to your heart, you will never say goodbye.

Summer vacation has arrived and Sunset Shimmer finds herself alone. Her only friends are busy with their own summer plans leaving Sunset to figure out what one does when they are alone. A chance encounter with a strange, blank book changes that. Now she will help a friend rediscover that a friend kept in your heart is never really gone. And perhaps she will learn a bit about friendship herself along the way from her new friend of no brain.
