Cadance of Cloudsdale (so far) now in Spanish!

Thanks to the generous SPANIARD KIWI, the text of Cadance of Cloudsdale so far is now in Spanish! Mr. Kiwi has done a tremendous amount of work translating many of my stories into Spanish, but this goes above and beyond. If you're curious, you may visit the project so far here at this

    Happy Cadance Day 2024!

Things feel a bit subdued today, due to the coincidence of Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday through a quirk of the liturgical calendar. It is somewhat difficult to juxtapose the splash of corporate-encouraged love with the festival that literally exists to remind us of our mortality. The pink of Valentine's washes against the purple of Lent. So I'm in a pensive mood, more so than usual on this

    Ciderfest is a wrap!

Just got home from PVCF and it was an amazing con experience! The minific-based ARG that circulated around the con the whole weekend was high-concept, and I was worried about engagement, but everyone seemed to really get into searching out the hard-to-find stories concealed around the convention hall (in places as obscure as "the desktop wallpaper on one of the monitors in the video game room,

Not really Pony (despite the name) but... · 9:21pm Jun 25th, 2022

Skin Horse is over, a project that has lasted approximately 30% of my time on this earth so far. Fourteen and a half years, since New Year's Eve, 2007. And, save for a one-month artist break at the height of the pandemic, it has been updating Every. Single. Day. Six days a week, with Sunday community days.

Even in my most relentlessly self-effacing mode, I must grudgingly say: that's not nothing.

We're crowdfunding our final two print volumes now, but that's just a formality. It's over. We did it.

I have to admit I have no idea what to feel right now.

You should feel proud! Not everyone can land that plane and you did a great job. I enjoyed reading every day and I'll miss the updates but that's how good stories work. They start and then come to a (hopefully) satisfying conclusion. I think Skin Horse did even if I think Mr. Green needs a good punch in the nose.:flutterrage:

Anyway congrats!

Congratulations! Would that George R. R. Martin could finish such a long-form story. And let me be the first here to post the inevitable question…

What’s next?

Finish up my crowdfunding writing duties, then back to Pony, I think. It has been lying fallow.

You... SKIN HORSE!? Er,...um *ahem* I never realized you are an author of one of m favouritewebcoimics as well.

5667688
Yep, that's me! Thanks for reading!

5667684
Thanks so much!

Wow, I remember reading the first few chapters while waiting for your next Harshwhinny tumblr to comes out XD. That is an incredible achievement and you should be proud. I wish you incredible luck on your next big 'thing,' whatever that may be. :)

I recognize about half the characters in the final comic, which I consider an achievement for us both as I never managed to be a regular reader.

My own longest long-term project was a ponyfic that took seven and a half years, so I get a glimpse of the impact this completion must leave on you. Congratulations on the monument you made.

I found Skin Horse through your work here, so I’m glad for the journey and if it’s true you plan to do some more ponyfic I’m happy to see Cadance again.

You had your own comic strip?

As I once had Sunset Shimmer say, "There's no 'should' about feeling." You've done -- completed -- something very big... Congratulations!

I'm so behind on print volumes. Need to pick up some of the newer ones.

Congratulations on seeing the project through to twelve whole volumes, Jeff! You are an amazing writer, and I will always be so happy to have been able to make your acquaintance through the pony fandom.

It's definitely been bittersweet watching as the story wound down. Doubly so for you, I imagine. But, like I said about Friendship is Magic, better to wrap things up while it's still good. And Skin Horse is excellent.

Amazing accomplishment! :pinkiehappy:

Congratulations! I meant to send you a PM on the matter, but this works too. It's been a long, strange trip, and I'm glad I was able to follow along.

Plus, now I can read the story hidden in the image file names.

Congrats! I need to get back to reading it

God, counting the time it was a Narbonic crossover...

A Brief Moment of Culture was 2008, right? I was 13 then, I'm 27 now. So I've officially been a fan of yours for more than half my life.

Fucking 'ell.

I don't know what you should be feeling either, but eventually you should feel pride and a deep sense of accomplishment. You made something that brought people joy, and you'll always have fond memories to look back on. Congrats!

Wow, seriously, congratulations on an impressive accomplishment, a testament to your drive, dedication, and creative talent!

End of an era: I've been following your work since partway into Narbonic, and this is definitely an impactful closure. I wish you both the best of luck on vacation and I hope that the future of your comic creativity is an enjoyable process, whenever it comes around.

Quick edit to say I'm gladly dropping the full backing on the print collection. :3

Dang~, small internet. Somehow I'd missed that connection.

Good for you! Always a nice but bittersweet thing to close out a big project. Wish you and the rest the best of luck in whatever comes next! :pinkiehappy:

Congrats dude
I wouldn't know how to feel either. When a huge chapter of your life closes it takes time to unpack the full meaning of that. As Bilbo says,
"So comes snow after fire, and even dragons have their ending!"

I verbally said "Oh My God" upon reading this. Well, good thing I'm like at least 5 years behind then, lol.

Mad props to you and I feel bad I forgot her name and the colorist I also forgot the name of. Y'all are real ones!

What an achievement! Congratulations on it!

Wow, that is a hell of a run! Congratulations, man! You've certainly earned it.

Our best to Shaenon K. Garrity as well on this.

Congratulations, again. :)

Oh, I didn't know you were involved in Skin Horse, I've been reading that for years. Congratulations!

I have to admit I have no idea what to feel right now.

Feel proud of yourself, of course!:pinkiehappy:

Martin is a hack and Sapkowski is a plagiarist. Go read Berserk

Honestly, I don't know.

Geeze, I look away for five minutes and suddenly almost a month has gone by and I forgot to say anything.

I was a huge webcomic reader back in the golden age. I've long since fallen out, but Skin Horse was always amazing.

The reason I post right now is because I just repeated a running joke between me and a friend that originated years ago when we both read Skin Horse.

I would complain about editing, and the swear filter would kick in. We go "EDIT EDIT MUKLUK", and laugh like lunatics.

Thank you for all the stories.

5672826
Wait... wasn't Skin Horse SCP before SCP was a thing?

5673332
Eh, the vibe is totally different! I can't really recommend one to fans of the other.

5673353
Clearly you haven't heard of Connor

5673358
It's true that I know SCP mostly from reputation.

5673361
Granted that ones a more light hearted and comedic then most of the SCP

one of the rare times i've poked my head back in this site (still hoping to see more Cadance of Cloudsdale some day! :scootangel:) and this is super late but congratulations on the culmination of such a long and involved project. I hope to find the time and motivation to check out Skin Horse some day.

Thanks! If and when you do, I hope you enjoy!
