    Reunions: A Swapped Roles Contest!

Okay guys here's something fun presented by Nitro Indigo.

Presented by me, I guess, but I digress.

Last year, I (Nitro Indigo) noticed that there was a surprising lack of roleswap fanfics on this site. To fix that, I decided to run a roleswap contest over the summer themed around secrets. While it didn’t get many entries, it nevertheless attracted the attention of some big authors and was the origin of two of my favourite fics. Overall, I think it was a success, so I’ve decided to run another one!

    Minor Rules and Reporting Update

Hope everyone is enjoying the new year.

Some small changes have been made to our rules as well as to the reporting process.

"No attacks directed at individuals or groups due to race, gender, gender identity, religion or sexual identity."

This better clarifies our previously ill-defined hate speech rule and includes groups as well as individual attacks.

"No celebration, glorification or encouragement of real life criminal activity."

This includes past, present and potential future crimes.

    Jinglemas 2019

There's truly no time like the holidays. What's better than copious amounts of food, quality time with family and friends, hearing the sweet sound of Trans-Siberian Orchestra on repeat, and unmanagble financial stress from our capitalist overlords?

    Gift exchanges of course!

Come See Us at Bronycon! [Royal Canterlot Library]

The run-up to Bronycon has been a mad whirlwind of RCL activity!  Five curators are attending (two for the first time!), and one of us is an official community guest. Several of us are participating in the Golden Oaks Bookstore (as author, author and publisher).  And we're even running a panel!

    Patreon & Survey Follow Up

First of all, reminder that we have a Patreon you can find at . Apparently a lot of people didn't know we had one so there it is. $5 will remove ads on the site for you. I'll be making the Patreon page more prominent in relevant areas of the site soon to make sure people actually know it exists.

Thanks everyone for filling in the survey last night. We had over 5,000 responses and I did in fact read every single comment left as they were coming in and finished reading them this morning. It seems there are a few features which we would potentially be interested in making premium features (part of the $5+ patreon rewards).

    • Custom emoticons you can upload
    • Custom titles / colours
    • Animated avatars
    • Avatar border frames
    • Extra themes
    • Custom CSS
    • Higher tier patreon rewards that let you “gift” premium?
    • Mass story download
    • Banners
    • Automatic day/night theme selector
    • Free advertising slots?

Site Post » "Ponyfic: There Can Be Only One" wrap-up [Royal Canterlot Library] · 7:17pm Aug 9th, 2019

We're still recovering this week from the fandom's final Bronycon.  (In some cases literally — a con-crud-ridden Horizon is dragging himself out of bed to write this.)  So in lieu of a Bronycon-week feature, we'd like to talk a little bit about the panel we hosted to find THE FANDOM'S BEST FANFIC™.

We've got a full writeup on our website — including the complete bracket of 16 fics in contention for the title; shout-outs to great fics which we couldn't fit on the shortlist; and the full results of audience and curator voting.

Our hearty congratulations to Monochromatic's "The Enchanted Library" for taking the BEST FANFIC title in an upset victory over our #1 seed!  We'll be running an interview with Monochromatic as soon as possible.

Congrats to Monochromatic and everyone who competed!

And thank you to the RCL for having the panel, there are some more stories on my read later list!

Those seem to be great picks across the board! I haven't read all of them, but the ones I have are definitely excellent.

Biggest lol I've had in a while. Thanks for that.

It was a great panel! The voting was close in a lot of places. Either way, whoever wins, we win by getting to read such good stuff.

Also, I too, am suffering through con-crud, so sympathies to Horizon.

Monochromatic can now put "author of the greatest MLP fanfic of all time" on her resume.

I just about died laughing.

Don’t blame me, I voted for Hard Reset Kodos.

Hard Reset is still my personal #1 and nothing will ever replace it. But congrats to MC.

So what you're telling me is to take it off my RiL already and just freaking read it?

Oh man, TEL and Hard Reset are great but it's almost heartbreaking that Cartography of War is still an unknown at this late date. It certainly could've won, but I don't see it mentioned at all!
Everyone I've seen rank fics who's read it puts it at #1, even if they've read those other two. Including myself.

(I'm still struggling getting the video of the event uploaded to youtube, but I'm working on it!)

Great, since this was the last bronycon, now it's impossible for anyone to ever write anything better than the enchanted library.

Oooh! So close! Congrats to Monochromatic!

Oh hey, Words Failed Her almost made it. I remember that thing. I probably still have my review of it from before he published it collecting dust somewhere.

Keeper's of Discord is the reason I have an Ultra God Tier Favourites section. And somehow it was ousted from Stefan Karl Status in my eyes. It remains a close second, and I will treasure it forever. It just happens that my current favourite is also a Discord fic. I'm still unsurprised at the current rankings however. All those fics deserved to be there.

On one hand, I feel a bit of regret coming across this because now I've just compounded my "so many stories I want to read" problem, and on the other hand, more stories to read!

Congrats, Mono! Hope you understand how much we love the same thing you love! Unadulterated RariLight :raritystarry::heart::twilightblush:

Thank the stars someone else is mentioning this absolute gem of a story! So many people forgo it because it's centered around original characters…
I love TEL and TEK dearly (or anything by Mono, really), but I mourn the fact that this story isn't at least fighting for the first place.

Hard Reset doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence, let alone almost beat out TEL.
I've either not read or despised most of these. I guess I'm just snootier than the rest of you.

5104345 wow, I do not get that vibe from you at all
