New Chapter of Quantum Castaways, Rough Draft Completed, Sent to Prereaders for first Editing Pass · 11:02am Oct 27th, 2016
Hey folks. Just a quick message to anyone who still cares, I have tentatively finished the rough draft for a new chapter of Quantum Castaways. Current draft weighs in at right around 12000 words, and that WILL change as the editing process moves along. Bear in mind that it has been a long, hard road to get this material out. It is a Frankenstein nightmare of bits and pieces jumbled together from the last three years of banging my head against it... when I say it's a rough draft I am fucking serious. There is, in fact, the possibility that I'm deluding myself and this is trash. If my prereaders tell me it's not up to par, I'm going to trust their judgement.
As much as that'll hurt.
I just don't have the ability to look at my work objectively anymore. Everything that I've written in the last three years feels off. I don't THINK it's terrible, but it's long past time to put up or shut up.
Anyway, I don't really have a solid ETA for you just yet. Say within a month? Sounds about right. Could be as early as this week, could be later, I just don't know. Final word count will probably be higher if Nugar or anyone else decides to contribute an Omake. It's not a requirement or anything.
Going forward, I feel as though I've broken through a barrier. If I'm not completely deluding myself, and this IS up to snuff... then hopefully the long wait is over and I can get back to writing with more regularity. I'm more or less posting this message so that people can get reacquainted with the older material if they so desire. I realize it has been a LONG time. I expect some of the details are fuzzy.
I know they are for me.

Glad to hear you're surpassing the dreaded writer's block, or at least starting to, hope you can beat it completely.

Hey man, thanks for the news and for being honest with us about this. No matter what you've written, I'm sure we'll still enjoy it. I know from experience that it's WAY easier to edit something that's already been written (even if you think it's garbage) than it is to sweat bullets about a hypothetical chapter you haven't even started yet.
What I'm trying to say is, trust your writing skills (and your prereaders) and don't get too down on yourself for the last few years of radio silence. I'm absolutely giving this story a re-read, it's probably in my Top Ten. Take your time, and know that we're glad to have you back in the game!!

Anyone who sees this blog post still cares, I imagine. The chance to reread this ahead of time is nice, but I think you fail to realize how many times many of us have already re-read this. It stuck on my favorites tracking for years without updates for a reason. This is among the very oldest stories I still track.

To be perfectly honest, since this was last updated, I've had to check twice to make sure it was a real fic and not just a fever dream I had jumbled memories of. I'm feeling a little under the weather today, so seeing this news first thing actually makes me feel better.
And believe me, we still care. We're still here waiting to see that next chapter.

This was the 3rd story on this site that sucked me in completely, and one of the reasons I love reading here. The other two were Past Sins and The Immortal Game, so your story stands on a high pillar as far as I'm concerned. Can't wait to see what comes next, time to start rereading.
