With the advent of magic, humanity dared to dream of an era where peace and prosperity were a reality. Unfortunately, war is a habit not so easily broken, and all the ideals of love and tolerance merely served as paving stones on the road to hell.

The world ended 200 years ago.

Zero's life is defined by constant fighting. In a land where where survival is the product of tenacity and death is only staved off by stubbornness, he and his fellow Hunters have carved a place for themselves between the feral wastelands of the Old World and the suffocating Enterprise of Neo Arcania. Little more than a band of hired guns, their employ typically involves chasing mechaniloids away from homesteaders or even dissuading the occasional raider group, but every once in a while it means escorting a prospector into the wilds to hunt for pieces of old-world technology.
Prospectors like their latest client, the enigmatic Doctor Xiel.

I almost called it "A Brony's Tail" for the novelty, but I couldn't because that would imply that I got a mane and hooves in this story.
I'm a brony, yes, plucked out of my life and plopped in Equestria for reasons I don't know and by methods I don't understand. Yet, I should count my blessings. After all, who else could enjoy front row seats to the events of MLP: FIM unfolding in real life. Starting, much to my amusement, with the return of Nightmare Moon herself!
However, not everything is rated TV-Y, and what should I do when some of the characters begin deviating from their scripts?

Sunset Shimmer has been cut with the deepest wound of all: regret. She's retreated from everyone around her and even though Twilight's friends are trying to reach out to her, it doesn't seem like the former unicorn wants to be helped. Or is there something more? What could possibly drive a strong, confident lady like Sunset Shimmer to fear even her own shadow? And, is she still the same selfish girl she one was, or are her efforts to distance herself an attempt to save everyone else in the school from a horrible fate?
Set during and after the Rainbow Rocks shorts, this story tries to be as canonical as possible while giving Sunset Shimmer more depth as a person and leading up to EG2.

Set between the season four premere and finale, this story follows the account of one of the most advanced assaults upon Ponyville.
Pegasi pirates, from the war-torn northern territories, know that the only real peace in this world is that of superior firepower. Now, starving and desperate for their next target, stories reach their ears that the wealthy and peaceful town of Ponyville has surrendered the Elements of Harmony. Armed with the most powerful airship ever constructed by pegasi, Captain Meyers sets his sites on the little town. Yet, perhaps even his years of war and strategy cannot prepare him for what he finds waiting for him and soon, a game of shadows and backstabbers threaten to consume him and blot Ponyville from the map.
