In the summer of 1016 at the tail end of a long, bloody war between Equestria and the Changeling Hives, the tides have turned in ponykind's favor. Changeling forces have been pushed back to Vesapolis, and every element of Changeling society has been mobilized against Equestria. Every passing day, the prospect of invasion becomes bloodier and bloodier while peace remains as far away as it has ever been.
Forced into making a hard decision, Celestia sits in her office and awaits the end of the war.

Lovely work. I wish more mlp stories focused on moral conflicts like this one here. It's, in my opinion, one of the most interesting things you can do with the setting.
Seeing characters so used to having the moral high ground challenged in their beliefs is always so interesting. Especially when said characters are forced to choose between keeping to their principles, or allowing an injustice to befall others.

When I found this in the "New Stories" thingy, I didn't even notice the tags. I assumed that Celestia dropping the sun would be funny. Boy howdy, was I wrong. In a good way. Even though this feels like a chapter from a longer story, I'm glad that I read it.
