Thou how will they repopulate the animal species? Also what of the other intelligent creature's like griffins, dragon's, zebras and so on? Will some humans turn to them?

Dragons might have survived. They can eat rocks and take baths in Lava. The sun being up all the time wouldn't necessarily kill them.
Everyone else... Minotaurs might live underground, Dimond Dogs might have also survived.
The hippogriffs might be alive under water as well.
The maid had only passed away a few weeks before Susnet came back and they restarted the day/night cycles. It's possible more made it in the far north and south, the Yaks might have been able to hold out.
The others, save maybe the changlings. Are probably gone and would need transplants from the human world, one would think.

While annoying, Rainbow and Fluttershy to a lesser extent will be good to have once they all learn to fly.
Twilight and Sunset should be able to McGuyver up the portal before the full 20 moons are up. So this could be worse.

Nice interaction and some magic lore I like it.
Personally I have silver and gold have similar affinity to magic but each has it upside like gold having higher capacity while silver purified any taint.
And that iron(and it alloys) ironically is the best conductor but it can't hold magic in itself, as well as warping magic in a way that poisonous to most magic beings in prolonged exposure. Cold iron is the 'best' alloys in this.

Dragon or Roc would be my guess. Hoping for Dragon, at lest you can talk to one of them... maybe. A Roc just seemed to be an animal, powerful and magic resistant, but not much of a conversationalist. Good thing they have a Fluttershy if its one of them.
Not to burst your bubble sunset but unless you have anti material rounds or tank shells, firearms be as useful as throwing rocks.
So dragon's are also carnivore fair I suppose, usually I prefer them being omnivores that can eat literally anything as long as it has magic in it.
Interesting for shadowing, so nightmare force found another user or maybe Alicorn are somewhat draconic or it dust who draconic.

The beginning with Sunset is a nice thing, but the change of scene with a human is somewhat discordant, that part happens too fast, maybe it needs a rewrite or an edition
In addition to the name of the protagonist, everything else is quite good, if you do not have one of your own you could use the Dust Shine, is the name of my version of Twilight’s genre change, it is not so original but a letter could change a whole story jajajajajajajaja
I now understand what you mean by ambitious, survival fics are either pretty good or they’re pretty boring, I hope with the ideas you have it’s pretty good and you give it an interesting address, especially since it seems that Sunset and Dusk are the only living pony and I am sure that many Human refugees would seek a new life in that desert world (from the good and harmonic to the bad and chaotic)

Becoming DayBreaker... I doubt it, even if he had stayed, but it’s like Sunset says, she gave up, in that timeline she literally lost everything, her student her sister her niece... her daughter, she had no reason to live
maybe, a really big maybe, if Blueblood hadn’t been so shortsighted maybe Celestia would have stayed, but the possibility was much lower than Sunset’s getting good without the need for a Twilight Sparkle
And yes, Starlight did break the timeline, but as long as the flames of an unbreakable will burn, hope will still live
good chapter, but I feel that Dusk sold the idea of the original equestria, which is full of life and harmony, it is assumed that the equestria that exists in that timeline is a desert where natural disasters abound, Dusk surely did not realize his mistake because the element of honesty did not sound before it
I hope it is a problem that is addressed because it is something quite important and that affects each of the girls

if you mean the Twilight and Starlight of that timeline, maybe, but if you’re referring to Twilight and Starlight time travelers, it’s unlikely that if I’m not mistaken the desert equestria is one of the last time lines visited
This chapter was quite good and showed that there is still intelligent life, it may be the wild dragons but it gives the possibility that there is still thinking life out there
Dusk’s idea of using human science for war is something I agree with, and something necessary in those moments of chaos where peace may not be available, it is not at all Harmonic but it is not that time is...
