awesome chapter mate keep it up can't wait for the next chapter:pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

"Only the bodywork is junk," Izzy explained. "The rest of the structure is a custom build from bits I've acquired from hobby shobs. It's good fun if you know what you're doing!"

Neat. :ajsmug:

"I need to keep the variety up!"

Right... :ajbemused:

"Besides, you know why I can't collect my own coaches," Gordon continued. "My wheelbase is too long for the sidings- I would derail on the points!"

Or just go extra slow and cautiously. :trollestia:

Thomas blinked. "That didn't go to plan."

Ya think!? :twilightangry2:

I've been meaning to read that G5 eqg story, but kept on forgetting. Maybe I might try it soon. But that all depends on if I'm up for it as atm I'm not certain. :unsuresweetie:

1. Indeed. Izzy builds things!

2. Yes.

3. Not even that would work, unfortunately

4. Nope.

Well nice to see that some time has passed on Sodor for our other friends.

As for Thomas’ predicament, I hope it wasn’t too serious, but I have to wonder why the switch changed so quick. (Other than another engine coming in)

11867318
Thank you. I wanted to up my game for these, so decided to give it a whirl.

More shall be revealed for tomorrow. I thought it made sense for the characters to have noticably aged, given about 9 years of real world time have passed since the ending of Retold Adventures (hence why Spike has his G5 VA here).

The next chapter shall give you some more insight into that.

"Ah, but you do!" the steam shovel said. "I'm Marion, and the magic engines we passed are magical. Clearly you wished to be something else and it came true! Now to see if I can find a way to make a wish come true!" And she then steamed off towards the dig site.

Not this again. :facehoof:

"This is quite the mess to clean up," he grumbled. "I really could have done without this." He looked at Thomas with a glare that could melt a glacier. "You are a very naughty engine , Thomas. I thought you knew better than to shunt coaches like this. Has nine years of working with Twilight taught you nothing about how to be useful engine?"

be a useful engine?"*

Sir Topham Hatt sighed. "How many times have I heard that story. I've had quite enough of your excuses. It wasn't a faulty signal or damaged points or wind or a bouncing beach ball or Gordon or backing signals or a danger sign or a snapped cable or rain. And not even a magic carpet either!"

I believe the episodes referenced were faulty signal, Gordon and the mechanic, Percy and the signal, down the mine, Percy and the magic carpet, though i can't remember the other ones I'm afraid. :fluttershysad:

He walked off, and Twilight shook her head. "He's not normally like this. What's caused the change?"

Who knows. Better than saying 'special special' or 'causing confusion and delay' a lot. :applejackunsure:

"Clearly a mystery for the ages," said another. "She's certainly got quite the voice, thought."

voice, though."*

Rarity looked out of the cab. "As much as I appreciate your fashion sense, Pipp, I cannot help but fear your use of English is causing poor grammer.

grammer."*

Ryan's livery here is based on how the engines looked in later service, rather than the innacurate purple livery he gained in the TV series. His running number is also innacurate for the class; 1044 was, in real life, a J5 0-6-0.

I'm pretty sure his number is 1014, not 1044. :unsuresweetie:

11867591
1. Agreed. Marion firmly outstayed her welcome on that special.

2. My A key seems to be having some trouble working.

3. The snapped cables and rain are references to real life accidents; the 1876 Abbots Ripton crash was partly caused by a snapped signal cable.

4. Yes.

5 and 6. Fixed.

7. Thanks for spotting that. Quite why the show has characters constantly running with innacurate numbers I don't know, as to establish the correct numbers would only take a quick Google search.

11867933
Perhpas it can be used as a running gag.

I still can’t understand how Marion is so imbecilic on her silly beliefs of the Arlesdale engines being magic.

Well, I’m glad to see Edward and Gordon are on Thomas’ side for this case. As for Sir Topham Hatt, I don’t know what his deal is, but I get a feeling there’s something much more deeper than what meets the eye.

T’was nice to see Pipp, Sophie, James and Rarity unite again.

And we now have Ryan present, but, who’s gonna be his driver?

11868100
I get the impression she was written to be silly.

Trust me; there's a good reason for him being a bit of an ass.

Given they got along so well first time it only made sense to reunite them.

More on that soon.

11868146
Yeah, but there’s a limit to have much I can take.

Given everything that’s happened in this Falmouth Verse, it doesn’t surprise me. I’m just glad Thomas isn’t on his own here.

Hopefully we’ll get to see the Falmouth reunite with their counterparts in good time.

Of course.

11868149
Likewise. Comedy is a fine art; underdo it and it turns into cringe. Overdo it and it becomes annoying.

Well, as that breezie put it, 'nopony is alone who has friends.'

Indeed.

Yup.

11868362
Aye, and Marion’s light headedness is more than I can take.

Indeed, there is no greater treasure than friendship.

11868364
Good thing they dialled her appearances back in later episodes (though the cynic in me suspects that was partly due to budget constraints; the plan had been to recast Merlin, but when the character was revived they discovered Hugh Bonneville happened to be available to reprise his role).

11868387
I'm glad they did too. (Well regardless how it came to be, I'm still glad they cut back on it)

"I somehow don't think that's likely," Thomas said, then glanced over to see who was at the rest point. "I believe we've met before," he said to the red diesel.

It has happened Thomas. :ajbemused:

"It sounded familiar to me, though," Salty said. "Once, a long time ago, there some incorrectly wired signals on the main line, and a disconnected relay was activated by a false electrical signal. Once that happened, a signal went from red green when it shouldn't have done. A train was behind the signal, and it moved off- and crashed into the train in the block in front."

from red to green*

"You just had to mention that, didn't you?"

You have done something similar in the past. :ajsmug:

Sir Topham Hatt closed the door, and looked at the report. "Let's get rid of this," he said, and he dropped it in the shredder.

Did he just do what I think he did! :pinkiegasp:

"I can't see one either!" Thomas said. Suddenly, they lurched to one side, and the trucks in front of them tipped over, discarding their cargo onto the ground, which was still shifting. The coupling had broken, but in that moment the explosives onboard detonated, blowing a vast hole in the floor.

Oh crap! :twilightoops:

But what had been in that cavern? That was all that was on Thomas' mind right now. How could they find out what had been down there?

Only time will tell, once the next chapter is out. :fluttershysad:

look at the tracks never mind the view

awesome chapter mate keep it up cant wait for the next chapter:pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

Okay, now I'm convinced. There is a conspiracy of espionage in the shadows. And I know who is behind it.

As for the chop to bits thing, I have no clue what's going on or what they're talking about, but it can't be good.

11868482
1. Indeed, but not in this continuity.

2. Fixed.

3. Indeed.

4. He did indeed. Something fishy is going on.

5. Indeed. Kaboom.

6. Indeed you shall.

11868573
Keep that thought in your mind.

Are you alluding to STH shredding the accident report?

great chapter mate keep it up cant wait for the next chapter:pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

Opaline reminds me of a female version of adolf hitler

Are you trying to have Sodor lose trust, faith and confidence in Sir Topham Hatt?

"Well, he's not, so forget about him, OK?" Ryan said. "Besides, he was too small and too slow. It's about time this railway got a bit of an update to drag it kicking and screaming into the 1920s."

Judging by this line, I'm guessing he won't have the same personality as he did in the show? :unsuresweetie:

"This is far too rough!" complained one. "Tell the driver to accelerate far more cautiously in future!"

Who even is Ryan's driver? :applejackconfused:

A figure stepped off his footplate and over to a phone. "Good news," he said. "The disruption plan is underway, and we can begin to confuse our opponents and keep them busy for you."

Oh boy. :fluttershysad:

"No need," Sir Topham Hatt said. "Put Thomas in the back of the shed for the rest of the day. If that doesn't make him behave I don't know what will." And just then he had an idea. He turned. "If you can't behave, Thomas, I shall take away your blue coat of paint and have you painted black!"

That's the last thing I'd expect him to say Thomas of all engines! :twilightoops:

"It's OK," Argyle smiled. "I'm only an amateur at this myself. The existance of these patterns suggest something remarkable- that the crystal caverns are a branch of the Magic Railway. That would explain why Sunny ended up where she did during the November trip- the branch terminated there."

Interesting. :rainbowhuh:

Opaline grinned. "A rather big bang might do the trick. I'm thinking some of the things they have at the construction site might do the trick."

Whatever she has planned, it won't be good! :raritydespair:

11869249
I think there is a valid comparison there. Both figures are demagogues partly motivated by race ideology.

11869287
There's a plot reason for this. It shall become clear later on.

Will you have STH regret punishing Thomas?

11869308
1. Ryan is being portrayed here much closer to the original draft; in the original version of the story Ryan was a rude and arrogant locomotive. TV Tropes speculates that the personality was reworked to avoid fans drawing comparisons to Ryan Hagan, a Thomas fan who has a reputation for being rude and arrogant.

2. Wait and see.

3. It most certainly is bad.

4. Something is clearly wonky wrong.

5. Indeed. What could it be leading to?

6. Indeed not.

11869470
Why did you feel Sir Topham Hatt lied to Thomas in the story?
