The Blue EM2

Glad to be here at last.

T

It is said that in times of danger, heroes will come together to face the rising tide of evil, and fight back to preserve the light. These heroes can come from the strangest of places.

This is the story of one such hero. Although she appears to be Sunny Starscout, you may be surprised to learn her true origins...

Part of the Rebirth of Magic continuity. Tags will be updated as the story continues.

Great to see you back, Chrome.

Although nopony- sorry, nobody- in my group enjoyed G5 to varying degrees, I was certainly the most passionate about it. It would have been effective heresy to admit it to the people in that group, but I actually preferred G5 to G4 at points, which I guess is part of the advantage of being part of its fandom from the beginning rather than jumping onboard partway through and constantly playing catchup with the content.

I can totally relate to this. I didn't become a brony because of fim, but of EQG actually. But, since the start of G5, I've been starting to appreciate the actual mlp that's been around the last 4 decades.

Sorry, I'm rambling, aren't I? Locals say I have a bad habit of talking at length about things that don't neccesarily interest other ponies. Comes with the disability, I'm afraid.

Is he saying he has autism, as I am like that too as I do have it myself. :unsuresweetie:

1. I jumped on with EqG as well, funnily enough (hence why the bulk of my Fimfiction output is EqG).

2. Yes. I have the condition myself. There is actually a fantheory that Sunny has the condition herself. Supporters of this theory point to her unusual sentence phrasing, her tendancy to talk at length about topics even when the listener isn't interested, her odd vocal tones, her apparent difficulty with 'reading' the body language of other ponies, and the fact she seems to struggle with social cues, often speaking at innapropriate volumes.

Thanks! Anything particularly stand out?

11559575
She has arrived! But will it be her day?

11559580
Perhaps it will
But It has to be HER day

11559621
Well, yes. Genderswapping does rather have that effect.

11559628
True
But i hope the guy turned pony mare enjoys it
Its fun to swap at times

You'll have to wait for subsequent chapters to find out.

So now we get to the start of our next story in this series. Not much I can say that other reviewers haven't already said better, but I do appreciate the small look at the main character's life before the transformation. And, it is apparent this is a bit before the end of the fifth chapter of "Izzy's" story (since that had "Sunny" and "Izzy's" first meeting).

Off an educated guess, I'm going to say that the next story in this series is either going to be focused on "Pipp" or "Hitch" (more likely "Pipp" given the slight cliffhanger in the fifth chapter of "Zipp's" story

But, anyway, the inner reflection, characterization and future chapter set-up are all quite well done.

11559460
Now that I've heard somebody explain that theory to me, I kinda like it. Geranted, I don't think the case is as strong as say, Twilight, though that could easily change as the series goes on (and to be fair, I tend to project myself onto Twilight a lot).
But I really do hope the writers go down that route, not the least because she'd break some of the more pervasive stereotypes about people on the spectrum (i.e, being a girl, liking sports, having an extroverted personality). It'd be cool to see.

Oh, I almost forgot... This series is back! :yay:

Thanks for taking a look. I was going for a rather different tone to Zipping It, and wanted to centre in on somebody who closely identifies as a brony and would appreciate life in Equestria.

Tomorrow will give you some more clues as to when it takes place.

One YouTuber (it might have been Sawtooth Waves or somebody else) speculated Twilight may suffer from OCD, but she does show quite a lot of standard attributes of people with ASD, such as religiously sticking to specific schedule (this is especially noticable in Seasons 1 and 2).

Personally, as an autistic person, I would love for the writers to add a character who canonically has the condition and is represented well.

11559714
Yes we are! Time for another month of pony adventures!

Thanks immensely. I'll have my review up very soon. :-D

Hello again. Definitely appreciated the work going into the inner reflection, characterizations and future chapter set-up. Definitely liked "Sunny" looking through his/her belongings in the lighthouse (including the playful jab to certain episodes airing out of order and the attitudes toward the final season). And we just got our first difference from the actual movie on THIS end with "Sunny" grabbing the Earth pony crystal right away (even comparing it to a point-and-click adventure game). Also liked the reflections on where the music and back-up singers during the "Gonna Be My Day" song. Especially liked the observation concerning just how good of shape Sunny is actually in. This seems to indicate that the main characters are sharing the bodies with the ponies they're in the roles of instead of simply replacing them (memory muscle and all).

Most certainly looking forward to more of this.

nice chapter mate keep it up cant wait for the next chapter my godsister always sings 'Gonna be my Day on her way to school:pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

That's so sweet! Nice to hear there are fellow G5 bronies/pegasisters out there.

Some of the approach to this is inspired by two different stories. One of those is It's Always Sunny in Equestria, a story about a G5 hater who finds himself transformed into Sunny and forced to live her life. Naturally, he tries to rush through the events as quickly as possible, with some segments resembling a player speeding through NPC dialogue.

The second story is Erm... Princess Luna?, written by a friend of mine. In that one, a human ends up as Luna some point before the events of the first season of FiM, and uses their knowledge to speed things up a bit.

I appreciate you spotted the reference to adventure games. Those were a big source of inspiration for me, even if knowing where everything is does rather reduce replay value.

And I'm amazed fewer people don't comment on Sunny's physical health. As noted, the girl's got stamina.

I remembered when in the story I was. This is clearly some point after Argyle's death, then. This was, of course, Sunny's shrine to her dad. My dad, I guess, seeing as I was her. I remembered being somewhat caught off guard when the film hinted he'd died when I first watched it. I guess it plays into our fears of losing people, or ponies, we love.

Still hard to believe she lost her father when she was young. :fluttercry:

A small lantern sat underneath the wall, the bottom facing towards the central chamber of the lamp room. I spotted the Earth Pony crystal in there and removed it, placing it in my back. That would save me time later.

Good thinking.

1. Tragic indeed. Having said that, there's no denying the massive influence he had on her, and the restoration of the magic means that, in a sense, he emerged victorious. In that sense, Argyle will never truly die.

2. Rather like speedrunning a game, eh?

11560484
Rest assured things may go a bit differently to the film.

It takes place in the same continuity as Zipping It, actually. There are currrently four stories on the go that take place in this setting. I can link the others if you'd like.

The platform raised into position, and true to form the ponies watching looked annoyed. "How did she get in there?" Phyllis demanded. "Who is responsible for this outrageous display of incompetence?"

Your about to find out. :ajsmug:

It could see Hitch rolling his eyes. Although his words were inaudible from this range, it was probably some sort of remark of frustration.

I could see Hitch rolling his eyes.*

Then the splatapaults opened up. If you've ever been shot with a paintball, you'll have a good idea of those splattering all over me felt like. Eventually the grabber was detached, and I smashed through the glass before landing flat on my face.

That's gotta hurt. :fluttershyouch:

"Take her to an asylum," Phyllis interrupted. "Your unity nonsense was bad enough, but knowing the future? You'll go the way of your father if you're not careful. Take her away, Hitch."

https://m.

"That is what the mind of a pony poisoned by unicorn and pegasus propaganda looks like. Do you want to end up like her?"

I'd so slap her if I was there right now cause Sunny was telling the truth, nor was she poisoned! :twilightangry2:

"Hi, Sunny. Long time no see!"

Wait, how does she know her name already!?! :applejackconfused:

11561479
1. That she will.

2. Corrected.

3. I can assure you now it is pretty painful. And that's speaking from experience.

4 and 5. Phyllis doesn't know any better. She's been raised in this sort of mindset, and presumably had the same views drilled into her by her parents. To quote the film Mississippi Burning, "hatred isn't natural. It's taught."

6. You'll have to read Rebirth of Magic: Izzytastic to find out!
