The Lost Introduction

It was just another ordinary day at the ranch for Megan Williams as she was dismounting herself off of TJ, a pony that she was known for riding on when it came to being with the horses. For her, life always felt dull and repetitive as if she felt her family's ranch was in the middle of nowhere and had little contact with anyone outside if not for having a computer with internet access and a smartphone. Even with that along with having a family that included a father and younger brothers and sisters, she still felt as if she was alone.

She asked her dad, "Wouldn't it be nice if I could actually meet some people in real life?"

Her father replied, "Isn't that what you have your phone and computer for?"

Megan then mentioned, "It's just not the same when you can't see them in person."

"Just be lucky that this ranch can even get a WiFi connection considering where we live." answered Megan's dad.

"I would be even happier if you let me meet others and not just on social media, plus you hardly even let me go to town with you." replied Megan.

"Your mother, who is now dead, wanted to make sure that nothing bad would happen to you or any of your siblings as long as you are under my watch." answered Megan's dad.

Megan then went to bad that night wishing what she would be able to see that was beyond the ranch that she was barely allowed to leave. Then next day after riding TJ she then decided to go towards the valley that she saw in the distance. What drew her attention the most was seeing a rock formation that was in the shape of a horse. For some reason, she couldn't seem to stay away from it. What she didn't know was that this rock formation had a special secret that she didn't know about until she pressed up against it.

She then asked herself, "Where am I and what is this place?"

What she didn't know is that a bug-like creature was looking down at here from a tree and noticed her.

After seeing the new creature Queen Chrysalis thought, "I should get a good look at this creature especially if I want to take its form at some point."

While she was wandering around, she noticed a yellow pegasus with pink tail and mane as she was surprised about what she saw and even approached it slowly so that she wouldn't scare it away.

Megan noted, "I have never seen a pegasus in real life, and I always thought that they were just mythical creatures in books that i have read."

Fluttershy then looked at Megan and asked, "Who are you?"

Megan feeling even more surprised then said, "I didn't know you can talk, because where I live, I have never seen a talking a pony before."

Fluttershy then asked, "You're not here to harm me, are you?"

Megan answered, "I'm not here to do you any harm, I just want to where I am and how I can get back to where I came from."

Unfortunately, Fluttershy flew away in fear. However, Megan saw where she was flying to and followed her into a nearby town. Seeing the name and who lived there only brought more interest and curiosity to Megan as she entered it.

As Megan entered the town she then thought, "What kind of a place is Ponyville? Then again, looking at its residents, I can see that the name isn't that much off. I can even see that there are unicorns, who I also thought only existed in books. Maybe these ponies will talk to me unlike the one I met earlier."

Fluttershy then found herself with a blue pegasus known as Rainbow Dash and said, "You wouldn't believe what I just saw outside of this town."

"Was this creature dangerous or threatening?" asked Rainbow Dash.

"The appearance of that creature did sort of scare, but that's mainly due to never seeing one like that one before." answered Fluttershy.

Applejack then overheard and intervened, "Maybe the creature wasn't dangerous, plus you do have a history of being afraid of a lot of things especially to those you haven't seen before."

Fluttershy then saw Megan walking into town and stated, "There's that creature again, and it looks like it followed me here."

The ponies started to go into hiding while Megan tried to talk to them as many of them kept running or flying away whenever she came close to them.

Megan tried to state, "I don't get why you ponies are trying to avoid me especially when I don't mean any harm to you. I just want to know where I am and how I can back. For the record, I am very nice to ponies back where I am from."

Not too long the royal guards came over to place shackles on Megan and take her over to Canterlot Castle where she would sit in a cell awaiting would happen to her. After Chrysalis saw what happened, she used the ponies fear of Megan to her advantage not long after she was taken away. Over at Canterlot Castle, where the ruling alicorn princess known as Celestia and Luna while another such as Twilight Sparkle was in the library overhearing a girl's shout through the hall making her wonder what it was all about.

Twilight rushed over to the throne room and said to the princesses, "I would like to know what was going on and who is that creature that the royal guards were taking to the prison."

Luna stated, "It is none of your business Twilight as the guards have found the creature who was a threat to the residents of Ponyville and brought in that said creature."

Twilight replied, "If this occurred in Ponyville, I would like to know why I wasn't informed about it especially since I live there and it's my jurisdiction."

Celestia added, "We have already taken care of the situation, though I will admit that this strange creature wouldn't go quietly."

"What strange creature are you talking about?" as Twilight continued to ask.

"The one that was just brought in just now that we are talking about." replied Celestia.

Twilight then mentioned, "I would like permission to see and talk to this creature that you had locked up."

Luna claimed, "That is denied, and we don't know what this creature is capable of."

Celestia stated, "I understand your interests Twilight, but we don't know if this creature is safe to approach let alone talk to it."

Twilight then asked, "Did the guards at least talk to this creature to get a good understanding about it?"

Luna answered, "They will talk to this creature when they feel ready to do so."

Twilight then realized that she felt that neither the princess nor the royal guards were going to do anything about the prisoner making her feel as she had to take matters into her own hooves. However, she had to wait until the guards were no longer by the entrance so that she could sneak into the dungeon to see the prisoner. Meanwhile, Megan couldn't seem to understand how anything worked while being in Equestria.

"Don't I at least get to make a phone call or meet with a lawyer?" asked Megan.

Unfortunately for her, the royal guards had no idea what she was talking about as they continued to tease her until their shift ended and left her alone in the cell.

Twilight then saw the cell unguarded, approached it, and said, "I would like to know more about you."

Megan then stated, "You're probably here to tease me just like the guards who were just here."

Twilight replied, "That's not why I'm here. I want to know who you are, where you came from, and why you are here in the first place. Unlike the royal guards, I will listen to you and understand your purpose for being here. BTW, my name is Twilight Sparkle, but you can call me Twilight for short."

After getting a better understanding, Megan then answered what Twilight wanted to know, "My name is Megan Williams, and I come from a place known as Earth, which you probably never heard of. I only found this place by walking through some rock formation back where I live and wound up here. More importantly, I would like to know where here is."

Twilight mentioned, "You are in a place known as Equestria and Canterlot to be exact."

"Is Equestria supposed to be some sort of a country or kingdom?" asked Megan.

"It actually is, but I would like to know what exactly you are, because you sort of remind me of something I was when I crossed through a mirror becoming something similar to what you are right now." replied Twilight.

Megan stated, "I am a human being or just human for short if that's what you want to know."

Twilight noted, "At least know I what I was when I went there, because I had no idea what I was originally."

Megan asked, "Why exactly does your kind think I'm some sort of threat?"

Twilight answered, "Sometimes we ponies have a fear of creatures that we're not used to seeing on a regular basis such as you, so you can't really blame them for that."

Megan responded, "Just because I happen to be someone you haven't seen before doesn't mean that I am dangerous."

Twilight claimed, "I can understand what you're saying here."

Megan then took out her locket from under shirt and stated, "At least you don't seem afraid of me, but I know I will never get to see my father, younger brother, and younger sister ever again, while this locket is what I have left to remember her."

After hearing everything Twilight then said, "I will go back and try to convince the princesses to let you go, because I don't find you to be a threat to anyone here."

"I hope they will listen to you." said Megan.

Twilight then went back to the throne room and told the Royal Sisters. "I would like you to release this creature known as Megan Williams. She isn't a threat to anyone. The reason she is here is because she is lost and just wants to go back home."

Celestia stated, "Twilight, I would like to believe you, but sometimes there are creatures that can act innocent when they need to be such as Discord."

Luna added, "Twilight, sometimes you do have a history of being gullible only to wait until it's too late to realize the true nature of such creatures."

Twilight claimed, "Since neither you or the guards bothered to speak to her earlier, you wouldn't have known anything about her unlike me who did actually talk to her."

"Are you saying that you actually defied a direct order and talked to the prisoner especially when we told you not to?" asked Luna feeling angry in response.

"Although it's true that I had defied orders, it was the only to know her true nature, which it seems that neither of you seem to know about." replied Twilight.

"Alright Twilight, we will have the royal guards bring over the prisoner to hear her side of the story." mentioned Celestia.

After agreeing, Megan was then brought over to the throne room so that she can make her case.

Megan approached the Royal Sisters and said, "My name is Megan Williams and I come from a place known as Earth. I don't mean any harm to any of you ponies. Back where I live, I do take care of ponies over at my ranch and in a good way. The only reason I'm here is because I found this world by accident by pressing up against a rock formation that lead me to being here, but now I see that I will never be able to get back. Interestingly enough is that just looking at you three also seems impossible for my kind to see in real life especially since horses with wings and a horn known as alicorns don't seem to exist in real life where I live."

"Maybe Twilight is right and you really are telling the truth about your nature." replied Celestia.

Luna then levitated a picture that had her and claimed, "According to this picture we recently received, it shows you placing the ponies you encountered in cages if you were trying to capture them."

Megan stated, "I never had any cages and I had no intentions to capture any ponies. Although the ponies were scared of me when they saw me, it was mainly due to never seeing someone like me before. More importantly, whoever, took that probably photoshopped me in there just to make me look bad."

"What is this photoshop you speak of?" asked Celestia.

"It's when they place a picture of you into another picture just to make it real even though it wasn't, and it's these days it's done by computer." answered Megan.

"I'm not very aware of what you speak of nor does such a thing exist to us ponies." replied Celestia.

Twilight then got suspicious and asked, "When exactly was that picture taken?"

Luna answered, "Not that long ago."

Twilight then claimed, "Then it can't be her if she has been locked up most of the day."

Luna stated, "It doesn't rule out that she might have had a doppelganger, an identical twin, or might have teleported out of her cell back when nobody was looking."

Megan replied, "I'm just a regular human with no magical powers and the only sister I have is younger than me and not a twin."

After hearing everything Twilight said, "I think who know who framed her, and we need to get to Ponyville before it's too late."

Celestia mentioned, "We will give this Megan Williams the benefit of the doubt that she didn't do it as she will be in your custody Twilight, but we will still keep a close watch if you're wrong about it."

Luna added, "If it turns out that this creature really did do it, she won't just be placed back in the cell she was in, but you will join her as well for being wrong."

The three started heading to Ponyville with Megan riding Twilight even though she felt that she should rode on Celestia or Luna due to them being bigger. However, they claimed that any pony can support such weight regardless of their size. During the flight Megan started to hear a voice in her head that caused Twilight to detour and take her towards the Cave of Everfree as they approached the Tree of Harmony with Luna following them in suspicion.

"I don't get why we have to stop here." mentioned Twilight.

"Some voice in my head told me to come here as if I was drawn here." replied Megan.

Luna then saw them and stated, "Her true nature must be to either to steal from the Tree of Harmony or to destroy it."

Twilight claimed, "There has to be more to this, because the Tree of Harmony doesn't just call for anyone."

Celestia then stopped Luna from going after Megan and said, "If the Tree of Harmony called for this creature, then it must have something important to give her otherwise that wouldn't have been the case, plus I have never seen the very tree this excited to see someone like her before."

Megan once again got her locket out from under the shirt and opened it up as a huge rainbow started to enter it making her wonder why it picked her.

"What exactly did this tree just give me?" asked Megan.

"You got what is known as the Rainbow of Light." answered Celestia.

"I don't recall asking to have this type of magic." replied Megan.

"You didn't, it chose you. According to a prophecy from the pillars it was said that when its holder arrives, the Tree of Harmony will give it the one known as the Creature of Legend. It is believed that only that particular can control such a power, so it must be you especially if it chose you." stated Celestia.

"It just doesn't make any sense!" shouted Luna.

"It was said that the Creature of Legend would be someone we have never seen before especially if it wasn't a typical Equestrian creature." explained Celestia.

After that, they all went over to Ponyville to help free the captured ponies, but Megan was ready to fight her imposter even though the princess told her not to engage surprising the ponies even more.

Rainbow Dash looked at Megan fighting her imposter and thought, "Why is this creature fighting what's either its twin or doppelganger?"

Twilight answered, "That's because it happens to be an imposter that was framing her."

The Royal Sisters were ready to just blast at them, but Twilight stopped them in claiming that they might hit the real Megan by mistake while the imposter would get away. Twilight then thought by asking questions that only the real Megan would know just by asking. Unfortunately, even that didn't work as the two were constantly moving making it difficult to tell them apart forcing Twilight to come up with another plan to help distinguish them.

Twilight then thought, "There might be two Megans, but only one of them has the Rainbow of Light, so the one who uses it right now will be the real one."

Megan then agreed to open the locket and release the rainbow as the imposter got knocked out and returned to her real form.

Megan approached the beaten body and asked, "Who is this creature and why did she take my form?"

Twilight answered, "That is Queen Chrysalis otherwise known as the changeling queen, and she can take anyone's form including yours in this case."

Chrysalis woke up and stated, "I have noticed you since you came here and used the ponies fear of you to my advantage, but none of you will be to catch me."

Each of the princesses started to block Chrysalis wherever she ran to."

"Do you think it was a good idea to take advantage of the ponies fear of a new creature?" asked Celestia.

"Do you believe that your actions have no consequences?" stated Luna.

"Doing this was low even for you!" shouted Twilight.

Chrysalis then flew away.

"Shouldn't we be going after her?" asked Megan.

"She's not important right now and we'll worry about her another time, but right now you can help us free the captured pony." answered Twilight.

As the ponies got out, they started to understand Megan a bit better and realized that she wasn't a threat to them. Some of the ponies even allowed Megan to either hug or pet them as she claimed that's what she does to ponies back where she is from. Megan even got a special apology from Luna after what happened. After all of that, Megan then wanted to go back home and thought that giving a description of what she saw when she entered Equestria would give an idea where she came from. Before she could leave, she had to agree with Celestia that she won't tell anyone about what she saw let alone let them know about Equestria or even how she got there.

This would have most likely been her introduction to MLP:FiM if it was to actually air on TV.

This fic feels like you haven’t watched any of G4 and just read from the wiki. While people don’t mind the occasional twist on characters, almost no one here feels very accurate, and Celestia and Luna are completely different to their show portrayal. Yes, you marked it as “alt universe”, but that doesn’t mean people will expect or like a total variation from what they liked.

Which isn’t to say you should stop writing, just that you need to keep working to improve, a lot. I would recommend finding some writing groups, as well as reading more stories to see how to properly tag dialogue, etc.

First of all, I will always see not having Megan in the show itself as a missed opportunity even if the rest of you don't. Another thing is that I'm pretty much done with the series I already did know as "The Return of Megan Williams" in that there was so much that could be done with that. However, I will admit that I even outdid myself considering how long that went that even had some that would include G5 characters in it. The point of this fanfic was to almost reimagine what the show would have been like if it were to happen hence the alternate universe tag. Also, when it comes to using the alternate universe tag, the characters can be different as well. When you really look at it, even if Megan was going to be in the show, you would know that this wouldn't be the same one from G1 as MLP:FiM isn't a continuation of MLP 'n Friends. In other words, her own adaptation and introduction would have been different while only her appearance would stay the same, which I would have pictured her wearing how cowgirl outfit, which I felt that she should have been kept with since her original debut in Rescue at Midnight Castle rather than that romper suit that didn't even look age appropriate for her. BTW, if this episode were to actually air, it would have been shortly after the first EG movie especially when Twilight mentioned to Megan how she reminds of her what she looked like when crossing that portal. Overall, I do plan to some more fanfics like this one to show what other episodes could have been if she was to be in them.

I agree with the author and also there’s many stories on this site that characters don’t feel the same. Sure, the author’s writing could improve since the story felt… how to say it… kind of quick or straight to the point? I have to think on that but doesn’t mean I hate it I liked it since it’s nice seeing Megan Stories.

Oh yea, during the G4 series the Royal sisters definitely felt different during the early seasons then the later since Celestia seemed to be… dumb down later on like seasons 8 and 9 compared to what she was like in 1-4. Luna at the time since the author talked about this being after EQG 1 would have acted like that since this would before her dream episode.

Too bad she didn’t bring TJ with her at least. Though I felt the ending was a little quick.

In reality, we would never how Megan's introduction to FiM would have actually gone since it was never done. For the most part, this fanfic just gives a possible idea for that. Something tells me that if it was to air, it probably would have used the title I used. Something made me feel that they wouldn't have a good first impression of Megan if they first see her. The only reason why in G1 especially when airing Rescue at Midnight Castle the ponies weren't scared of Megan when first seeing was mainly because they already have and know about humans back in Pony Land. However, for G4, this would be very different, because they have never seen a human before, which is why they would see Megan as a threat to them at first. As for TJ, he wouldn't have much a use if he goes there especially since he can't talk and is a normal pony, plus he wasn't even that major back in G1 when he only made two appearances, though something tells me he had growth spurt when he was shown the second time. However, TJ does go with Megan to Equestria in the Deviantart comic strip known MLP:FiM: The Seventh Element, which was done by BBBHuey, and he can even talk after Twilight put a spell on them that allowed him to do so, though that comic strip was left incomplete, so it's not clear how that was supposed to end. Should I make a wild guess, I think that later on Twilight realizes that it's not TJ who is the "Seventh Element", but rather Megan instead even though she finds it hard to believe especially when she even claims that she's not even a pony to start with and not making sense, though Twilight claims that nowhere did the book about it ever said that it had to be a pony to begin with, but keep in mind that is just a hypothetical thought here.

You asked for attention, so I came to give you some… having read this, I’m going to leave a comment. I’m going to talk straight and not sugar coat my thoughts. If I come across as harsh or rude, I am sorry. It’s just my opinion. Take it or leave it.

This story is filled with errors of spelling, grammar and punctuation throughout. “Going to bad” instead of bed, is one example I remember. Using a period instead of a comma at the end of dialogue quotes throughout is another example. There were unpunctuated sentences and run-ons. There were some sentences that may have been intended to be compound or complex that had to be deciphered for lack of punctuation.

Those were the small problems.

The larger issue for me, is that for all the things happening in the story, at varying degrees of clarity, I didn’t feel any of it. I never made a connection with anybody, and so I had no investment no matter what happened. It’s like a body with no soul.

Additionally, there was no tease. You didn’t give me something to want, and then make me wait for it to happen. That goes hand in hand with investment and connection, and it just isn’t here for me.

You said upfront that Megan is unhappy, and I take your word for it. I never felt how she is unhappy, because it is not communicated. You said it, but you’ve got to use the words you write to paint it, to show me why she is sad.

The dialogue is stiff and unnatural throughout, no matter who is speaking.

What happened to the horse that Megan was riding when she found the portal? Equestrians catching her with a saddled and bridled horse might have been interesting.

Why did the guards abandon their post and leave a “dangerous prisoner” unguarded? That is nonsensical.

What did Chrysalis even hope to gain by such a halfhearted interaction?

Why a “chosen one” Tree of Harmony connection?

Everything feels… rushed. Be patient with each scene. Build it in your head. See it, smell it, hear it, feel it, taste it, and then write that out. Let the characters tell the story; let us experience it through their eyes, and go on the journey with them. Otherwise, it’s just words. To me, that’s the difference between something that is the sum if it’s parts, and something that is more.

The concept, of a depressed girl that goes to Equestria and finds friends, can be a solid theme to build on. So, write on!

First of all, the point of this fanfic was to show what it would have been like if Megan was to be introduced into the show, because I know that she wasn't when it did air. In a way, this is an inserted episode. Keep in mind that if others can make reimagined episodes for FiM, then I don't see why I can't do the same with how I want it to be. Nonetheless, Megan felt the way she does because she lives on a ranch that is very much isolated from everything else. The most she has to actual communications is her own family. Before she enters the portal, she has TJ, the horse she was riding on go back to the stable if you didn't seem to catch that. What Megan didn't know is that Chrysalis was watching her from the trees so that she can take her form and impersonate her later on in order to frame her. Since Megan doesn't have any magical powers it's not as if she can just teleport herself out of a cell or place a spell that will unlock it let alone try to pick the lock to get out. More importantly, this isn't the same Megan from G1, it's more of a rebooted character, which would have been the case if Hasbro really was to do this because MLP:FiM was never going to be a continuation of MLP 'n Friends. In other words, this one isn't related to the fanfics I already did, which does have Megan from G1 only that she is a bit older than she was on the show itself. On a side note, I will admit that writing was never my strong subject despite being so good just about everywhere else.
