I'm a busy pony with a short attention span. That being said, feel free to send me any questions you may have, I'd be happy to answer them!

T

After a confusing encounter with Q, the Enterprise-D and her crew find themselves thousands of light-years from Federation. When they are forced to make contact with a very strange civilization of ponies, they think only of peace. Unfortunately, their arrival destabilizes a tense political situation.

Liked, favorited, followed, and lets have more.

Your wish is my command! Working on it now.
Personally, I'm glad that people seem to love this idea so much. So many of the ST crossovers on this site involve the ponies already knowing of/processing technology similar to that of the Federation. While this is interesting, I think we need some kind of devolpement before such stories can happen.
Just IMHO.:pinkiehappy:
Anyways, after that long and unnecessary tangent, stay tuned for more. With luck, it shall be out either tomorrow or Monday.

5186322 good luck and make it happen captian

“Everything! Anything that could possibly explain this veritable middle finger to every law of physics.”

Aaaand you just lost me with that out-of-character bit. :facehoof:

5186670 Well, I challenge you to put yourself in Picard's shoes...

You have built your life as a part of Starfleet, a scientific exploration and discovery organization. You believe that for every imaginable question, there is a logical answer to it. Your very CAREER is governed by the idea that the objects in the universe follow predictable patterns, including the pattern where planets orbit around stars, not the other way around. And then, you find yourself in a situation where, all of a sudden, the very core of your career and, via proxy, your life, is challenged by this one exception, where one of the most fundamental laws of the universe, gravity, appears to have gone out on coffee break...
IMHO, I think that that's worth an outburst, even from a polite, politically-correct character such as Picard. However, that's my opinion, and your entitled to your own, of course...

Plus, it's not like I had him swear or anything.

5186713 You're not describing Captain Picard. He's had plenty of experience with situations where the "logical" expectation doesn't happen. He's able to think sideways and at least temporarily accept the otherwise unacceptable.

So yeah, I have to agree that he's out of character here.

Well...shit. Excuse my French, but I thought that maybe even Picard would slip, even slightly, at this.... You both have valid points.
Taking this conversation into consideration, I think I'll modify this...maybe have someone else say it. Thank you for helping me become a better writer! :pinkiehappy:
EDIT: I just decided to change the line altogether, simpler that way.

Hmmm. An... interesting start.

I'm surprised that they didn't try to blame Q for Equestria's orbital peculiarities...

5187904 Hey!! That's the same dude I was reading from just recently!
Glad you came and saw my humble attempt to write a good crossover. :yay:

I have a definite interest in good Star Trek crossovers... and I'd love it if this one lives up to its promises.

Well, this is bound to be interessting. *forms fingerpyramid of evilness*

Well.

How disappointing.

Yet another dead story... What ashame, and it was so promising.

humm what happens when Q shows up among the Eqestrians? I'm assuming standard "DIscord is Q". When Discord shows up and Picard asks him why he looks like he does and Twilight wants to know why Picard calls him Q.. implications.

its not telepathy its telekinesis or levitation

6131431 Shit...sorry.
Thanks for the catch.

6131457 also this has the potential to be a great fic dont crap out and dont bow to popular trends like a forced romantic subplot people came to see cultural exchange between ponies and humans

6131476
Let me tell you something. When I went to see Jurassic World in theaters, I almost walked out because they forced in a romance. And that movie was awesome!

Every time there is romance that I deem unnecessary (and I deem a lot of romances unnecessary), my faith in humanity drops. So, don't worry, 'cause this story does not need a romance.

6131534 good also dont needlessly separate characters or have them go on pointless fetch quests

6131476 Agreed
6131457 Nice to see this fic isn't dead

*cackling insanelY*

IT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIIIIIIVE!

When could we expect another chapter in this story?

Approaching him were two...pegasuses? Pegasi?

This might be a good place to have our well-educated but from-out-of-town Enterprise crew refer to them as pterippi as a loanword derived from hippoi pteretoi since, while the Ancient Greeks did also use pegasoi (plural of pegasos) as a general term for winged horses, the use of Pegasus as a given name carries more weight in English.

(pterippus being constructed for the greek words for wing and horse, as used in names like pterodactyl (wing finger) and eohippus (dawn horse).)

They could also refer to alicorns as Ethiopian Pegasi, since that's what the Ancient Greeks called the winged, horned horses they believed to exist in Ethiopia.

I may be misunderstanding how the spelling and grammar works, but I know the plural of Octopus is Octopodes (because it is rooted in Greek, not Latin). So, wouldn't the plural of Pegasus be Pegapodes? Or is it because Octopus ends in -pus, not because it ends in -us?

7442516

I never had time to research Ancient Greek grammar rules... I'm just working from reference material which says that Πηγασοι (pêgasoi) is the plural for Πηγασος (pêgasos).

As for English grammar rules, last I heard, the official word is that, to avoid making the language any more complex than it already is, "pegasuses" (not pegasi), "octopuses" (not octopi or octopodes), and "viruses" (not virii) are the only officially correct plurals.

hey update please
