There must have been a thousand beautiful mares in Canterlot, thought Prince Blueblood.

They had to pick her.

A short fic based off the one-off shot in that one song.

Well interesting take on Blueblood, delving into what made him act like he did at the Gala and it's fall out is always fertile ground.

thanks very much for the feedback! yeah, i thought it would be fun to explore. not really an excuse - just an explanation.

is rarity supposed to feel bad about this? probably not. in fact, it feels kind of manipulative. but the purpose of this story is to show that people as far gone as blueblood don’t even try to be manipulative. its in their nature.

Some people just call that venting.:unsuresweetie:

Good story though. I've always wondered if they were people, how awkward that meeting would be, if Blueblood would be enraged or terrified of her, or if (in the ultimate irony) he'd even remember who she was.

It's also pretty cool how you tied Blueblood's experiences to Rarity's personal conflict at the time. That was a very nice touch.

It's always fun to speculate about that sort of thing. Anyways, thanks for writing!

thanks so much for reading, and your thoughts! it's always nice to hear kind words.

yeah - i've said it in a few places, but i think some of the funnest fics are the ones that take these tiny moments from the show that were probably an afterthought (the animator who put blueblood in this scene was probably an intern completley unaware that he was even an established character, picking from some set of pre-determined "canterlot elite" ponies) and turning them into a full developed story.

This shows some great attention to detail that I haven't seen properly put to use before.
