My name is Lumina Moondancer, and this is the story of how I began my career as a defense attorney in Canterlot City. Just a month shy of completing law school and getting my badge, I find myself representing my best friend in court, who was accused of a crime she didn’t commit.
It’s a mundane profession to some, but to me, this is my calling. To be a voice of both reason and justice, to defend those who had no one else to defend them.
I didn’t know it then, but this was the first step on my road to becoming something great. Each of these cases were their own kind of ordeal, but so long as I trusted my client and held on to the truth, I couldn’t go wrong, right?

This story is a spiritual crossover of MLP/EQG and the Ace Attorney series by a fangirl of both of them. It’s a dialogue and detail driven mystery story focused on recreating the intrigue and tone of Ace Attorney while reimagining MLP/EQG’s setting, characters, and lore to match. All of the characters have received overhauls in name, style and role to fit the new setting, as most of them were initially background characters that needed interpretation.
If this sounds like something for you, have fun! If not, have a nice day.

Glad you’re enjoying it so far! We’ll see which cases I take on next, I’m writing them all one at a time right now, but I will be taking notes from the game’s cases as I go, so Rise may very well find it’s way into this fic in some shape or form!

Love this story so far. Can't wait to see where this goes.
This story is definitely going in my favorites. Can't wait for an update on this. Keep up the good work, bud.

Thanks for giving it a read, glad you've enjoyed it so far! Updates may be a little slow, but I'll be uploading each case all at once so there'll be a lot to read when I do!

Awesome. I love binge reading. As I said, can't wait. I am a huge fanboy of the Pheonix Wright games, so this was a huge surprise for me...
*EDIT*
I am also a fan of most things law related. Even have a collection of John Grisham's books...
...So Twilight is going to be the Edgeworth of this story? Curious.
10794234
Not quite. Twilight won't have much of a direct role in this story outside of brief mention. You'll see why she's alluded to in the same way that Phoenix remembers Edgeworth when we meet more of the cast.
Err...is the judge male or female? On the one hand there was
but then later
10794345
aye, that second excerpt was poorly worded, meant to mean she (judge) was looking at blueblood, who was getting his papers out
nothing some on the spot editing cant fix
You definitely captured the spirit of Ace Attorney here.
So, Lightning is Sawit, and Blueblood is Payne? Interesting stuff.
Is Sunny - Sunset? Or someone else?
Pity this story is abandoned. Was an interesting start.

Yeah, the way that I chose characters for this story ended up in some really unique combinations going on. The main rule is that, for the most part, I'm sticking to background, one-off, or otherwise barely explored characters for these investigations so i have more wiggle room with interpretations. Continued chapters would have more weird premises like this, with odd picks of characters in unexpected roles.

Sunny isn't Sunset. Further chapters would reveal more about who she is, though there's enough information here to make an educated guess if you know your EQG stuff.
This story isn't entirely abandoned, it's just been a challenge for me to write a tight, Ace Attorney-styled narrative in the format of these cases. And it's not the type of thing I'm gonna just drop updates for until I'm certain it's sound. Slow work, but not totally out of my mind. Probably still will be a wait on it though.

Ah, the human ponies. Kinda was puzzled, as I SAW the tags and nods to humans, but the thing is, humans, until Twilight comes there, don't HAVE magic. Not for "normal" humans anyway. All magic that IS there is from artifacts, such as Memory stone or magic shards, can't remember what they are called. So when magic was mention I defaulted into pony land. Do you have any explanations on humans having magic?
Hopefully you write more soon. Really want to read it.

It's difficult to explain in context of the story, but this story does happen separately from the pony/human worlds we've seen in canon. Built out of bits and pieces of them so I can make the crossover elements and narrative work better. It's the purest form of "Alternate Universe", with it's own implied history. Here, magic has always existed in some capacity, but humans with magic are just fewer in number. Not so obscure as to be unheard of like in EQG, but their society isn't built on it like it is in Equestria. Just enough so that I can make the "magical murder cases" thing work.
The same goes for the history in this story, there hasn't been a Twilight or a Sunset from another world that's visited this one, so the characters that would've met either of them will be fundamentally different. My other major fanfiction on this site is a better example of this, simply because it's a finished work.

So, any more of this story?
Pal? Only Gumman can say that! Well, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery so it's fine-
You've crossed a line, pal.
I can hear it ringing in my ears.
A pretty tame reaction tbh.
