Celestia has ruled over Equestria for centuries since Luna's banishment. Solitary rule has compelled her to place the country's needs above her own. With no end to the monotony that is her life, she gets stuck in a bout of apathy.
One evening, she finds herself looking after a newborn on the verge of death. In saving the filly, Celestia is thrust into a role she never expected to fill in her entire life: motherhood. Will this foal be able to move Celestia's tired, cold heart?

Reading the description, and the warnings... It's not redshirt where non-anthro ponies are concerned, it's redmane. Some of my stories- particularly the ones that took place in post-apocalyptic Equestria, but also some of the new ones- have a decent number of these, with varying (actual) mane colors...
Congratulations on getting this out and into the open! Some people struggle with their first story—but that doesn't seem to be the case with you! You've already got the right mental for improving as well as the basics down to pat.
All that's required from here on out is for you to keeping writing! Doing that, chapter by chapter, story by story, will develop you in all the directions you need to go.
I'm not sure how far you plan on going with writing; I can only hope that you enjoy it, and that it sticks with you, in some regard, for the rest of your life.

I guess the Elements not only aged Sunset up to survive, but somehow gave Celestia the biological necessities to care for her (i.e. allowing her to lactate) so, in a way, Celestia is Sunset's mother now.
