This story is a sequel to Diplomacy through schooling
Fourth in the Diplomacy-verse, and a part of the greater "Powers-That-Be" multiverse. Twilight Sparkle's had an interesting year and a half since meeting Swift-Pad, the diplomat from the Packlands. She's made new friends, she's traveled the world as a diplomat and learned a great deal about the other societies in the process, and opened a school to teach friendship and world cultures... and she's also seen the permanent downfall of two tyrannical enemies. Now, she's just looking forward to a peaceful time of teaching and enjoying life, while training to get her new powers under control.
But there's more to life that's coming her way. New travels, new dangers, new and exciting surprises. For a diplomat's duties are never done.

Another step along the road of Diplomacy, this time to maybe someone realise that if portals, fractures appeared all over Equestria, they might have over EQG space as well, but EQG have communications and internet for faster information search and collation? As long as someone realises, SciTwi can quickly get a hold of things, and the rest of the Girls are used to the tech as well?
Pity all the old companies aint there any more. SciTwi uses Acorn, Rarity uses Sharp, Pinkie uses Tangerine, Fluttershy uses HEX, AJ uses Big Blue, and Dash uses her Girlfreinds? Whats poor Spike end up with? Oric?
If theres only one Guardian per pair of gates, and an awful lot of Gates got closed, that an awful lot of Guardians, that got Retired?

The new and temporary portals may have manifested all over Equestria, but on the human side, they were limited to the grounds of CHS, since that's where they were physically created. So no major reveals of magic to the rest of the human world.

A very chilled-out chapter (so to speak), glad that the Crystalling went without a hitch & we finally got to see Cadence parents. Hopefully Luna/Pharynx foal won't cause too much of an uproar when she finally goes into labor in 2 months (give or take)
Hah, nice shoutout to the fact that Twilight's singing voice is also Sunset's VA in RL. And Cadence's parents were nice to see, we just hear about her being adopted by Earth Ponies but never see them in canon which is a shame. Can't wait for the next chapter.

They were last mentioned in the third story after trying one of their usual stunts and getting in a lot of trouble for it. Between that, events at the start of the war and the world coming together in general, they've lost a lot of their backing.

Hope he can keep himself in check cause there's a certain unicorn mom that's gonna have some choice words for him regarding his fave grandson turning into a dog cause of his portal magic.
I must say I'm very impressed. I never imagined the Diplomat story ark would be so great. "A diplomatic" visit is quite amazing. Someone who finally taught Twilight the true meaning of being a princess, as well as the existence of other changeling hives, more nicer than Chrysalis. "Diplomat at Large" is amazing too, never were there so many great kingdoms. And the Storm King defeated by a united world, now that is genius, and what touched my heart were the part where Sunset and Celestia made peace with each other earlier than expected. And "diplomacy through schooling", where the heck was that Twilight when she wanted to open her school in the first place. "Diplomat's life" is also great. I read through all those stories and I still can't get enough of it, love every word on this, keep up the good work and continue to write this fascinating story.

Glad that the quest for the artifacts needed to free the pillars went smoothly than canon, especially for the dragon sibs. Course even with preparations the shadowy one escaped regardless.
It was good seeing the gang curb down Starswirl's arrogance somewhat, especially since Twilight worked so hard in bringing the many races from beyond Equestria together. That last bit worry me though, hoping things go well for Stygian like in canon.
Hahaha! Starswirl called Celestia fat, I'm sure Luna would say that it's from all the cake she eats. Also, Twilight finally gets to see that Starswirl is kinda an asshole like how she used to be pre-season albeit he's a bit worst. I'm sure Torch would want to meet Flash Magnus again after 1000 years.

Well, at least the keys do something other than making a new castle for Twilight. Yeah, Starswirl needs to do a lot of talking afterward and reflect on how his worldview needs adjusting.

I always thought te idea of a single central castle was so that you could stick lots of residents in it for protection and living etc, instead of covering lots of land with homes that otherwise could be used for growing food for the people growing the food? Lowest overall costs are resident workers?
The talk during the ride toward the Crystal Empire was enjoyable, not to mention each one's battle cries jumping off the skimmer!
The first round against the Pony of Shadows (or Rabia as we found out) sure was intense, right up to Twilight jumping inside it to get Stygian. Course the part that stuck out to me the most was what happened after Twilight went inside Rabia :
Yep, you don't wanna incur either Twilight or Spike's wrath in times like these!
Loved the chest's role in the final push against Rabia here, well played!
Wonder if we'll get to see Spike molting before the tale's over? That would be the cherry on top for me.

Somewhat, castles served as seats for nobles to project their power across their domains. Within castles, you had garrisons which could be sent out on patrol for bandits and enemy forces. They also served as sanctuaries for the peasants in times of war which was a key aspect of the feudal social contract.
Yaay, they got the Crystal Tree, and a better idea for how to use it as well.
Apparently someone remembered Rule One of Cohen The Barbarian as well.
Always liked the idea of the Rainbow Floor decoration myself, where teh different colours are guide lines to different areas. Trouble is, when I had to got to a local hospital that used such a method, I couldnt recognise the guide as such, even with the large hanging direction signs. Usual people have no problem, following the yellow strip floor.
I wonder if the students or Maud explores teh underground passages that not only will easily connect Palace and School, to avoid the weather, but will also follow teh crystal veins that run to the mines beneath Canterlot amongst others?

Wow, S9 went by very quickly in this tale, glad that I saw my fave purple dragon finally molting & getting his wings though!
Also it was cool seeing what else happened to everyone, course a few sure got the short end of the stick at the end there (Adagio, Tirek & Cozy). Not to mention that small cliffhanger at the end with a small preview of that *Master* the Storm King talked about on his dying breath.
