If I cannot inspire love, I will inspire fear!
Well that was some proper bad juju. Here's hoping Cadence can burn it out without suffering or inflicting harm.
And, as a personal preference, I do tend to enjoy longer chapters.
10194934
Nice to see you're still reading. Was some pretty bad juju.
10194951
You write, I'll read. Nice and simple.
I must say, I'm looking forward to your eventual Crystal Empire arc, I suspect this Cadence won't be taking such a passive role in the defeat of Sombra.
10194961
Yeah. I don't like passive characters who should, by all indication, be actively doing things.
You show that darkness who is boss, Cadance!
Regarding updates, personally I prefer a regular update schedule, regardless of chapter length. It lets me know what to expect. If you do not want to commit to a regular schedule, you should probably use the chapter length you are most comfortable with.
Additionally, I feel this chapter has much improved verb tenses, so good job on that!
Go, Cadence, go!
This is such a different take on EVERYTHING!
It is tragic. It is dark. And this moment of badassness just screams 'PURGE!' in the most epic voice you can imagine!
Good job, sir!
10194999
Well if I'm going to make an au I figured why not go all the way. There's plenty more I'm changing.
10194999
Purge in holy fire
Would it be okay to say that I prefer mid-length chapters?
10195040
Absolutely not. No centrist answers here.
All I can say is excellent job on the latest chapter. The exchange and characterizations between Celestia and Cadance were quite well done in all the right places and the future chapter set-up is well done too. The show of Celesita's nightmare was quite well done and Cadance made some excellent points concerning Twilight needing to get out and about gradually and interact positively with others. And, yeah, I can understand calling Celestia out on her well-meaning, but misguided, over-protectiveness.
At the same time, I can ALSO understand Celestia's fears.
All in all, I'm in "hoping for the best, fearing for the worst" mode, which is a logical mindset for a story like this.
VERY definitely looking forward to more of this.

Your comment is always a treat to get. Thanks for continuing and for noting the interaction stuff, I obsess over how to do this story quite a bit.
I always wonder how many details people pick up and you seem to catch the emotional stuff quite well.
10006065
hello wanna rp I love your stories
You know from the other chapter I thought we were gonna see Twilight do something about it Celestias Demons but this works too glad to see Cadence step up though I wonder if everything is as cut and dry as we see it or if Twilight will have to brave the Nightmare in Celestias Mind
PS. Deleted Original comment cause I thought I was on the wrong story for a bit
Cadance mention oath...
What about it?
10195061
In that case...I'll say longer chapters.
The question is, is that actually the case... or is that the voice of Cadence's personal Nightmare?
Ah, the surrender school of "What the heck was Celestia thinking in the premiere?" Not my favorite one, but I do like the implications of Twilight scoring a victory her mentor never even imagined.
... Though with this Twilight, I'm not sure if she'll be able to lower her shields enough to pull it off.
Intriguing bit of backstory for Cadence.
And yikes, that's an ominous ending. The question is whether the cure will be even worse than the disease. Or what might lash back at Cadence as she burns it out. We'll find out in time...
It's been a while since the newest chapter,so, can you remind me. Did they ever catch the stallion who caused the incident involving Twilight?
10195277
Who says it was a stallion?
I don't comment on anything often, but I quite enjoyed this chapter. In many pre-Luna's return stories, Cadence doesn't seem to do anything about Celestia's grief, when it logically is something she would absolutely do. I like how it was handled, and how Celestia in particular is written.
As for chapter length, I prefer longer chapters since it's more immersive.
Well, that's not at all concerning. Cadance is giving off some War Doctor vibes here, and I LOVE IT.
Please sir, can I have some more?
Purge with flame will always remain the best choice
10195169
Cadance always seemed inactive to me. I hope I've shown that I don't like inactive characters.
10195184
It was meant to say she swore not to use her powers on Celestia.
10195230
I enjoy almost all of the schools for describing Celestia's inaction except just pure laziness or malevolence. Don't come in expecting the fans premier, though.
I thought the addition for Cadance was needed, and it leads into other facts.
10195381
Agreed. I'm glad you like the story and how I took the interaction.
10195397
War Doctor? A reference that I don't know... Good to see you liking the story still.
Love the world building. Love the characters and their motivations. Really hope you keep this going. We all know (roughly) where this will end up (probably), but it's going to be an interesting ride to get there.
One of them is not coming out unscathed from this. Possibly both.
Let's just hope their relationship recovers though. There's quite the chance the Nightmare influenced Celestia to refuse Cadence's help, but there's also the big possibility she didn't want her to see her weakness and pain, the dark side of her heart.
10195549
Oh? I'm curious as to where you think this is going.
10195552
Everything comes at a price.
10195560
I have assume we're leading up to Season 1, Eps 1+2, but I'm perfectly willing to be wrong.
10195577
Would you like to play Global Solar War?
This latest chapter reminded me this was in my read later list, so I finally got around to it and binged what is up. I am greatly enjoying the little, and not so little, changes you've put in this story to create quite the lovely parallel track here. So familiar and yet different enough to be distinct.
I read and enjoy stories with frequent or at least regular 1 to 4 thousand word chapters, and stories with less frequent 20 thousand word chapters. If you're asking me for my preference, in an epic story like this one could turn into, I generally like some heft to my chapters. Shorter chapters work better for slice of life stories, in my opinion. That being said, whatever feels right to you in a chapter will generally work for me, if it is to the quality of the rest of this story.
10195277
Her homeroom teacher, the teacher's two sisters, and at least 7 other ponies were rounded up and disappeared for their crimes, according to the Guard pony in his talk with Shining a couple chapters ago.
I can go either way with chapter size. What’s important to me is how you feel about it. What feels better to wright and will keep the fire for this story going.
10195433
"War Doctor" refers to an incarnation of The Doctor from Doctor Who, best known from his central role in the 50th anniversary special, "The Day of the Doctor." What made me think of him was when Cadance said "NO MORE" and proceeded to take drastic action, much like the War Doctor said and did to end the Great Time War.
10195866
Oh shit! God, how did I forget that. I remember now. Gotta devote some time to rewatch some Doctor Who.
Chapter size doesn't matter for most of us it seems. It seems a lot of us readers prefer a timely release or even just seeing the next chapter no matter how long it is or how long it takes. I for one can't wait.
I love the way your writing the magic vision and seeing the magic of emotions as a spectrum! It's almost like a retelling of the original story with a few twists that make the story more mature and seasoned. Keep it up.
Gentlemen, Urist McWriter is a buddy of mine and thus often asks me for writing advice and to look over chapters before they're released. During one of our talks, he mention how surprised he is that no one has found the bit of foreshadowing in the chapter.
I went back and reread, and after a bit found what he meant... hot damn the drama will be real!
Short chapters I tend to hesitate when I see long chapters.
This is probably the most intense and usable cadance I've read in a long time.
