Sequels1

T

Starlight never accepted Twilight's offer of help. Many iterations of worlds and pasts have passed since. So Twilight gives up on mercy and tries something else. Something that she'll regret for the rest of her life.

Notice how Starlight tried to talk down Twilight at the end. Sort of like how Twilight did to her.

OP Twilight kills Starlight, seen it before. Moreover, she does it when Starlight realizes she had lost and asked her to not to do it.

There's a thousand easier ways to kill someone, even Twilight could have thought of something simpler. For that matter, with magic like that Twilight could have simply immobilized her with raw power, Yamamoto-style.

Quick and painless though, I will admit. And getting her remnants out of a solar gravity well? That would indeed be, difficult. Very permanent by most paradigms.

Hi! I loved this story! The line about being on the sun still gives me chills. I did a reading of this story on my channel, I leave you a link if you'd like to check it out.

OMG SO GOOD! THANK YOU!

Registering chills.

Halp! I need cute pictures!

I feel no remorse, honestly.

I think Twilight sent Starlight to the sun as an act of mercy. Basically we don't know what its like on the moon/sun but if its just your consciousness is trapped then probably many people would prefer that to death.
Essentially confirmed that's what Twilight was thinking in the sequel but she was wrong. I promise I didn't read it when I made the non spoiler part of the comment

So, the big issue I have with this story is summed up here:

And she had lost a friend.

Starlight is not her friend at all in this scenario. Given what Twilight's been through in this story, her sorrow makes little sense outside of having to murder another. Starlight has been nothing but an enemy at this point, so this extreme reaction to killing her (especially if Twilight's so brutal about it) is unwarranted.

Well twilight sparkle is friends with starlight in cannon, so maybe some of that emotion was inside of this Twilight.

Two issues with your explanation:

  1. The two becoming friends has not happened in this story. As such, those canon feelings do not and have never existed in this Alternate Universe story.
  2. The story explicitly stated that Twilight stopped trying to convince Starlight a long time ago. It can easily be inferred that Twilight does not have any interest in trying to make Starlight her friend anymore.

I think what actually happened here is that the author wanted to have a story where Twilight brutally punishes Starlight (or one of her friends in general). Unfortunately, the motive provided to Twilight that would explain her decision is created by circumstances that would prevent Twilight from considering Starlight a friend. Thus, the intent from Twilight is there, but the emotional payoff is contradictory to reasons for this intent.

This is just an instance where what is told (Twilight considers Starlight a friend) and shown (Twilight should not consider Starlight a friend) are contradictory. This is a really common writing mistake, even in "professional" productions.

Nice story, is it alright if I narrate this on my YouTube channel?
