This fanfic is dedicated to the men and women who serve to protect our freedom. It is dedicated to the poor souls who lost their lives on the fields of Verdun, the Somme, Gallipoli in the First World War, to those who saved us from tyranny in World War Two, and many others who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
These people are soldiers of the Free World. As such they live, and as such they die.
Scootaloo never knew her parents. When she was very young, she was left in the care of her uncle, who took care of her. But one day, she finally meets her father.

Its author, THAT1ANDONLY, kindly gave me permission to use his piece as a thumbnail. God Bless him.
NB: The show is probably going to address the subject of Scootaloo's family, so this story is going to get the AU tag sooner or later.
Very nice! I very much like the idea of SCoots father being in the Royal Guard.
Sweet and short.
A little telly, and needs a proofreading pass-over, but an otherwise very sweet story.
We still don't know anything about her parents, but there is one canon thing about Scootaloo's family we do know (though it was in a book): she has two aunts who I believe raised her together, so yes, I think the AU tag is already appropriate.
Happy Remembrance/Armistice/Veterans' Day.
A fine story for this armstice/veterans day. For it falls on an important anniversary, and serves as a reminder of the continuing struggle many of our bravest face in the name of freedom.

Thanks for the comment! My great-grandfather was a navigator in the RAF!

Amen to that! Couldn't have said it better myself!
This sounds weird even coming out of Apple Bloom.
It was a little unfocused and rambly at parts, but all in all, this was a good read.
'At the Going Down of the Sun, and in the Morning, We Will Remember Them'.
My heart melted I rate this 5 out of 5 flutter yays
My only criticism with this story is the reunion between Scootaloo and her father. It wasn't bad, but it would have been more emotional if there was a bit more build up to it, like seeing him get off the train or talking to a few ponies and asking about his daughter. Other than that, this story was well done and a welcome celebration piece of Remembrance Day.
A beautiful tribute, my friend. Having it take place over the course of several independent scenes anchored the main story in a broader world and made of a good slice-of-life for both Scootaloo and the other cast members, as well as the country itself.

Truth be told, I had a lot of assignments for uni this past week, so I had to write the bulk of this on Saturday. So I'm sorry if it feels a bit like hackjob at times. But thanks for the feedback
