I based the Diamond Dogs on both Orcs from Warhammer and Dwarves from Warhammer, Tolkien, and D&D. They were fun to write.

The canon dogs did remind me of those sources - pity it was never taken advantage of by the writers... but we have fanwriters to make up for it!

....so Rarity went and stole gems from the Dogs? Yeah, she's partially to blame for all this calamity.
However just giving away the digivice was stupid on Dustin's part. If he didn't want anything to do with it, why give it to her? Thats practically saying "Here, please be my partner!" which makes no damn sense for him to do considering what he's stated, especially when he then goes and just lets her follow him into obvious danger with no argument, when he could just march her back inside. The only reason for her to be there is if she is his partner, which she isn't!

Everypony knows, the approved way to take down a Warchief is to brand his lieutenants with your mind control magic, have them lure him into your ambush, and crack 'im upside the skull with a wraith arrow while they stab him in the back. All while your victory coffee percolates on the edge of the firepit next to a nice, roasting caragor haunch rubbed down with black pepper and garlic.

Most likely the reason was that he wouldn't know about the significance of giving the Digivice to her since it was stated that he doesn't know much about Digimon and bought the Digivice and Renamon plush for his friend.
