The Lone Doctor

Greetings ladies and gents, I'm The Lone Doctor, I am a huge fan of well written fics. Whether they are military, sci-fi, cross-over, historical, or what have you, if it's well written, I love it.

The summer of 1972 was a great turning point for Marble. As a right of passage in her Amish community, she must set foot in the English world for a time and then consider whether or not to stay in the community. It's no surprise then that her older sister by a few minutes had invited her to stay at her home in Oregon with their big sister for the duration of her "running around."

What does surprise her is how quickly she falls for an Englisher, fresh from high school graduation. As their friendship blossoms onto something more for Marble, how will she express her love? Will she go home to Pennsylvania? And does Pinkie's new cherry chimichanga recipe outclass her baking?

A love spanning a year. Set in the Fall of Equestria: Vầng Trăng Rực Sáng universe. Written for the Sunset Shipping Contest: The Changing Seasons

So far I think this one is my favorite out of the other ones in the contest that I've read. Lets hope that these two can weather the storm ahead.

I think it said the story can't be set in it's own universe...:applejackunsure:

Is the ending foreshadowing for a sequel?

As long as the reader doesn't need additional reading to understand the story, rules dictate that we can do alternate universes.

Contest-wise, yes, it is complete. But I may add some more once the contest is over.

Special thanks to Kildeez for beta-reading my story.

Kildeez nutz.

Gotem.

Silliness aside, this was cute as balls and i could definitely use more.

i want more this is very interesting

thoe i cant see the millitary over whelming eqeustria do to magic theyc oudl send tornados at the troops and such but that is a nitpick

Well, if that dove doesn't signify Sunset's death, then I'll be exuberant and gladly mistaken.

Let me guess, you ran into the deadline/word count? I would love to read an expanded version of this.

This is AU enough that I probably shouldn't be questioning this, but why does Sunset need to enlist? Couldn't she just take the girls over there and start blasting magic at everything? <.<

That aside, why Oregon? XD

Well the reason why the Humane 6 can’t go into the hot zone guns blazing, is basically because in this AU, the Vietnam war is still happening, some Caribou took over the Equestrian homeland, and threw a wrench into the Vietnam war. Sunset sees some ponies attacking humans, fears for the worst, and enlists to essentially try to save her country the old fashioned way.

The portal the Humane 6 doesn’t work because in creating a new portal, the villains had cannibalized(?) the original portal, or used up its energy. And said new portal is under the South Vietnamese government.

As for Oregon...well... it was the only state I could think of that would have everything featured in the main Equestria Girl’s series, beaches, farms, evergreen forests with mountains. It had that either Canada, or Northwest American vibe.

Overall, the AU was extremely wacky to say the least.

And yes. It’s the reason why I have a spin-off in the works, filled with one shots taking place during and after this fic. Still a work in progress though, I’m getting bogged down in high school senior life.

Okay, that's actually a really good reason to choose this setting, then. :)
