Ugh! Why are these always so short!
Great chapter!
Rainbow power infused bullets? Please?
Aww..
For some reason, I was expecting this:
Still good chapter though. Especially the Spike love here, mate.
Soooo, Frankie Boy doesn't like killing kids, huh?
So, old enough to drink, old enough to vote, old enough for the Punisher to blow your head off I guess?
Suddenly I'm picturing the scene three years from now.. It's Mr. Centaur Kid's eighteenth birthday. All his friends and family are around him, singing 'Happy Birthday.' He leans forward to blow out the candles on his cake.. And suddenly The Punisher sticks his head through the door and shoots him in the head.
"Been waiting three years for that. Welcome to adulthood, punk!"

So was I. It would've shown he's not that bad. But just as scary.
You know, he should give Twilight the middle finger and kill Tirek anyway.
Fucker will just keep coming back and Twilight never learns her fucking lesson.
If I where Frank and had the current amount of resources he could get a hold of, I would make a ton of IED's, Molotov's etc basically a lot of effective improvised weapons. Also some other useful items like chloroform if they have it.
This shoud be good.
Twilight's hubris is really ridiculous here. I mean, there are just some people that well and truly deserve to die. Tirek is most certainly one of them. My God, she's worse than Batman here.
7787037 This. There's stupid/delusional and then there's this Twilight.
Some villians deserve the death that awaits them, doesn't mean you have to like it. Even a Utopian society should be able to see that.
7787013 Not to mention that it's a lot more effective. Fear of pain is a far better motivator than pain when performing an interrogation, so is picking your targets for interrogation, a resentful target during an interrogation is more likely to talk and cooperate.
-That's CIA standard Cold War Interrogation Practice before 9-11
pff twilight is really delusionnal she think that all can be reformed and if they can t be better imprison them for eternity .
can she think a little : what is worse the death or a eternal emprisonnement? she has a problem with the justice , tirek kill thousands and is willing to kill even more but he sould only be emprisonned , yeah an eternal emprisonnement but how many time will him escape and how many ponies will he kill before someone has the common sense to kill him , after each time he escape and each time he kill is more blood on her hooves
7786992 Isn't science fun?
I would like Punisher to teach Twilight a very harsh lesson... involving multiple broken bones...
Which it is of course a more important detail than, let´s say, saving both Twilight and Spike fucking lives.
Hey! They're surpassing base instincts! Using the good old left side of your brains now! Knew it had to have been there.
7787018 You got that right.
Twilight should really ask herself should she be doing what's right or what's best for her kingdom.
Frank Castle: ""I don't like to hurt children, alright?"
*Days earlier:* Kneecaps mutant girl, twice, crushes her nose, introduces his heel to her chest and breaks her ribs, says hello to her knee again, delivers a good-old fashioned beat-down, and then tops off her nose by breaking it.
So is this the Punisher's idea of a spanking? Frank Castle: Family Man.
It'd be worse if he left her alive, too. Just a couple paces away lay Mister Bear, who's unlikely to turn down a free meal. (Not to mention they're in a forest, which would contains wolves.)
Twilight's smirks way too much. If you're gonna her write out-of-character, at least try and limit it so she's not so damn smug and arrogant (it's too the degree that I want her dead). Right now, this story's reminding way-too-much of Marvel's Civil War story-line, the one notorious for being purely plot-driven as opposed to character-driven.
I don't buy that the freaking Punisher, the dude whose kill count easily clocks in at quadruple digits, would give two damns what anyone, least of all some pre-teen, thinks of him. He sees himself as a monster, imagine that's a lot worse a label than "weakling".
Speaking of pre-teens, the lines he's speaking are noticeably forced. As in, I can blatantly tell the author's inserting words for him to read, as if off a script. Even with Twilight, it's not as bad. This, as well being the only character who's not written like a total idiot, makes it seem like favoritism (or merely not liking every other so far introduced so far).
tl;dr: Frank Castle's a family man with a harsh sense of corporeal punishment, Twilight's needs to stop juggling the Idiot and Conflict balls, Punisher would not care if Spike called him a weakling in the least (he's been at this for a while, any doubts are long gone), and the author fiat is getting more and more overbearing. Positive note: I love the comments that this story produces.
Oh, so is the Centaur that was just about to kill two people gonna be let free and that little bit regarding attempted murder (on a high-ranking official, no less) swept under the rug? Or is he going to be tried and sentenced? With the way this story goes, the former seems like the norm.
7787552 So nice that you apparently have the power to predict the future as that's the only justiifiable reason for you being so pretentious about a story that hasn't finished yet. Are you a mutant? Do you go to Charles Xavier's School for Gifited Youngsters? No? Well then, kindly shut up and just wait.
Does Twily have a dark side we've yet to see? I would hope so~ Hahahaha!
And Twilight... out of all of the badguys in MLPFIM. I would have to say Tirek is the most deserving of the death penalty. There's stupid, and then there's this Twilight. Christ almighty, Discord was cool, Chryssy I want to be reformed because... Chryssy, Sombra's already dead. So really, Tirek is the main problem and the main threat that needs to be killed... like, badly.
So kill him!
Also nice chapter!
7786999
What if he popped out of the cake instead?
7787907
That thought DID occur to me... Then came the mental image of Frank Castle as some sort of Punsisher-Stripper popping out of a cake wearing a kevlar bikini and a pair of .45s.
And then came the brain bleach.
why is twilot such a cunt this time around?
7787802
I do, actually! The future and all her paths are open to me, thank you for noticing. That's right, I've got a PHD in Applied Predictably! Glad you noticed! (And they said I'd never amount to anything! Ha!)
I apologize if I offended you, but this chapter bristled my delicate sensibilities so I put my thoughts into words. I could've worded it more pleasant, yes, but I wanted something with more pizzazz. May I ask what exactly I said that annoyed you so? I hadn't realized my phrasing was that negative.
Also, it seems to be constant theme lately, but are people only allowed to criticize when all is said and done? Multiple character's are being written out-of-character and this doesn't make for fun reading. I'm pointing this out in the hopes that the author (and others) takes note and utilize more consistent characterization in the future (the point of criticism).
(Unless it turns out this is some super elaborate, and oh-so-complicated, Changling-takeover and that's the reason Twilight and co are acting OOC, in which case I'll take everything back.)
7788039 You DO realize that Twilight and co, as they are within the show's canon, have never met and most likely never WILL meet a truly broken and damaged living creature like Frank Castle, right? Yeah, fanfic's interpretation are one thing, but in terms of the show and how to handle something like this as good as the show would or could, what would YOU have them do? They're all outright disgusted and afraid of this man and rightly so. He's the embodiment of everything that ISN'T MLP. Something is bound to happen that doesn't happen normally when two radically different elements meet for the first time. And don't you dare say Tirek is even close to Frank Castle in terms of being a broken and deprived killing machine. He's about as threatening as the dark is to a five year old. It's scary to little kids, but to everyone else, there are FAR scarier things out in the world.
7786992
I would've been really cool! Twilight could've been totally suspicious but allowed it, and the Mane 6 could've listened to the screams of a centaur being fake tortured!
Frank's going to either trick Twilight, Twilight's going to OK Frank's killing of a threat too big to let live, or Spike's going to tell Frank to kill Tirek because Spike's a carnivore and has a kill instinct.
7787989
There's a poster for the ladies
7788121
I do realize that, yes. It’s why I (as well as many others) have such a problem with her attitude; canon!Twilight wouldn’t be acting so smug and arrogant. What would I have them do? Good question… Alright, first up, I’d have the Punisher kill the mutant chick with little fanfare, so as to demonstrate that Frank Castle (as is he here) is icy cold and very well practiced at dishing out street justice. And if someone was curious as what crimes she’d committed, I’d tell him in the comment section to sate their curiosity.
After that I’d leave things mostly untouched as I, for the most part, enjoy how the author sets things up, up until where Twilight comes across Frank’s brutal murders. At this point I would alter it so that Tirek followers are more subtle in their approach to resurrecting the Dark Lord, so to have Twilight’s priorities in their proper order.
Eventually they’re paths were converge, and they’d have a heated discussion on his style of Justice – things like pointing that murder is still murder and he has no right to go around and play Judge, Jury and Executioner, that murdering people, especially for petty crimes (purse-snatching), is wrong (against their culture, if one prefers) etc. – Punisher blows her off, having been in this argument before, and then they square off (the Punisher having used the time spent talking formulating a plan). Then I’d write the fight scene so that Twilight easily overpowers Frank and holds the advantage the entire time, even when she’s subsiding on using much force and settling for holding him down via telekinesis (which is most definitely extremely powerful). Then Castle would bust out all his incredible wits and planning, managing to escape her grasp. Eventually Twilight would get frustrated and up the ante a tad, at which point he’d take a couple hits and fake agony and then she’d relent having thought she’d seriously hurt him. Once she’s suitably caught off-guard, he’d drop a flashbang or something similar and then he’d take off and disappear.
Now that they’re separated properly, they’d do their own separate things. Twilight passes on the news of the Serial-Killer Killer, and Frank would continue his attempts at stopping the Tirek, because Saturday Morning Cartoon or not, his brand of justice is equally distributed to those deserving. Follow along with the author's plot at this point, have Discord own him, may or may not bring in Twilight since she’s really not needed when you’ve got an all-powerful reality warper on the case.
Have Castle get arrested as usual, exclude Luna since I never liked the idea of invading another dream’s so casually and she’s not needed, have Twilight pop in to try and pass on her lessons of morality and friendship (since it’s in the job description, as well to continue their discussion, skipping out the majority of it ‘cause Frank Castle will not be budge from where he stands in the least.
Follow the author’s plotline where he breaks out of prison due to the guards appreciating him making their jobs easier and being a model prisoner (positive reinforcement, basically). Massacre the inmates as per usual, take down the guards, and escape to Punish another day. Once Celestia enters the scene, her reprimanding of the guards that let him out of his cell isn’t as harsh – “I would love to find a way to punish you for your incompetence” doesn’t sound like something Celestia would say –, instead opting more for something along the lines of a disappointed parent.
After which, continue with the plotline. Punisher finds Tirek, lines up a kill shot, fires, only to have be laughed off by the Demon Lord and proceed with demolishment. After which have Twilight arrive at the scene and stabilize his condition, and follow-up with him back in prison. Do as the author did, have Twilight get curious as what made him like this, and then he relates her with his tragic past, and she then decides try and work with him to try and help him see that’s there a better way – without the shock collar, since all that says is “Don’t do (or think) evil because it’s bad, don’t because I say otherwise”. Replace with something similar that just alerts her to his more violent thought patterns so she’s ready to intervene if necessary (which seems to be its effect anyway).
Move on to the introductions, leaving them mostly in-tact to demonstrate that Frank isn’t in the mode for their attempted empathizing. After which have Twilight, exasperatingly, state she’d appreciate him at-least making some effort to work with her and that cooperation is a two-way street. Move on to his new quarters, which have been furnished decently so as to treat him nicely, making an effort to reach out to him.
Continue as usual with the one-on-one talks since they’re hilarious. Either don’t bother to include Spike because he’s not necessary, or do and have Castle tell him some Punisher Mythos like the time in the Vietnam War where he got lost and scouts went out to search for him, only for him to come across their brutally and horrifically mutilated corpses (the details of which are best-left-unmentioned) and what exactly he did to the perpetrators once his found them. Exactly as he did to Dash once she was talking about how she was going to beat him. Then, assuming Spike doesn’t make himself sparse, if he claims he’ll kill Castle if he even tries to hurt Twilight in anyway at all, the Punisher would coldly point out that if Spike were to deliberating commit murder, then that would hurt Twilight more than he ever could.
Now that were in the present, I’d have a couple different options on how I decide to go about. Either the Punisher would escape yet again and leave Twilight to deal with the approaching Centaur, writing it off as inconsequential since he knows she can handle herself and that, in the worst case scenario, death’s are unlikely to blamed on him given the evidence. And even then, he’s more familiar with their tricks this time around (the Punisher is not an ideal hero or person in the least). Or, still going with the Punisher escaping under cover of night and having a suitable distraction about to arrive, Twilight ends up killing the Centaur (accidentally) and now has to deal with that fact. In this case, she writes off the Punisher as a secondary priority, and puts her efforts into banishing Tirek back to Hell.
And that’s how I’d go about it. If you want something more summarized, I’ll give you this: Render Castle colder and well-practiced, killing quickly and efficiently, portrayal Twilight in a more sympathetic light, as well generating doubt and conflict regarding the Punisher’s Black-and-White Morality (you steal someone’s purse, you die), follow the author’s plotline since I have little issue with it, swap Celestia’s characterization with something more motherly, re- organize Twilight’s priority list depending on level of urgency (Lord and Master of Hell > Human that only kills criminals), continue on with alterations in-mind, then diverge plot (Twilight dies, or Twilight takes a life) and go from there.
Tirek? Broken? Did you mean like OP-broken, or a total mess broken? Either way, he can’t compare. The Punisher is what you get a when a Batman's who's willing to kill, Tirek is an uninspired one-dimensional plot-device of a villain meant to send the season finale off on an epic note.
However, while Tirek really isn’t scary, his threat level is far bigger than Castle’s. Tirek’s not going down easy, since that’d be anticlimactic given all the build-up going into him (unless the entire point of the story is more a clash or ideals and Tirek’s being used for his designated purpose). First time round he nearly ended up into Living God territory (Discord’s Reality Warping, Celestia and Luna’s millenniums’ worth of power and possessing control over celestial bodies, Twilght’s own incredible abilities, etc) would equate to bad times all around. The Punisher only kills those who commit crimes (even if they’re minor), with Tirek, everyone’s fair game. Innocent or guilty, child or adult. If you had the choice of choosing one or the other, which would you pick? The guy who only kills criminals, or the one who means to turn the world onto a Hell-on-Earth, and has the means to do so.
7788424 Ok... DEFIENTELY creative and thought out, I'll give you that.
Honestly, I'm all but fine with how this story had played out thus far. I can't really think of any elements the author has included that have really hit a sour note with me personally. The Punisher is in character in terms of what I'm familiar with him about, Twilight, while a LITTLE bit OOC to some, is still serviceable and I find the inclusion of Spike to be an interesting one. I honestly first placed my bet that Fluttershy would be the one to break through Frank's shell, because... well, she got through to Discord, so really, what CAN'T she do? But maybe they're saving her up down the road.
All in all, I'm fine with how this story is going, but it's nice to see another's point of view. I'm sorry if I seemed snappy to you at first. It's a REALLY bad habit of mine that I'm not particularly proud of.
To be honest, for all of the people who keep saying 'Twilight shouldnt be so dumb, she should try to help Frank kill Tirek', please try to remember that in canon MLP, the worst punishment we've ever, EVER seen is banishment or imprisonment for centuries/millennia. To ponies, punishing someone with death is anathema, and they will not do it, unless they truly think they have literally no other option. They would take just about any other option that ends up with EVERYONE alive first and foremost. All the people that keep wanting Tirek' dead, I can't say you're wrong, as imprisonment probably won't work on him, but we are looking at him from HUMAN perspectives, not PONY perspectives. In that regard, I think Twilight is being a little less OOC then most of you think. Remember, for most of her life, she had a sheltered life, had a guard/eventually captain of the guard brother growing up, and the ruler of the land was her personal mentor, not to mention, (no offense to anyone here), she is very OCD about EVERY law in Equestria. Not to mention, her own becoming a princess, and needing to enforce the laws herself at this point, and she would definitely view Frank as a threat to take care of first, if only because he is the only threat she CAN take care of right now, because no one knows where Tirek is right now.
Also, comment to the author, I think this story is great, and this chapter was quite well written in my opinion. Can wait to see what other twists you have waiting!
Any chance of Frank running into the CMC before going after Tirek? I'd love to see their reaction to him.
Ok. So it cancels magic weaker than Alicorn magic. That means Twilight, Celestia, Luna and Cadance will be unaffected.
And no, it wouldn't Protect him at all from the Rainbow Powers. The Rainbow Powers are stronger than 4x Alicorn Magic + 1x Chaos Magic + who knows how much harmony magic from all the ponies.
7787989
Deadpool would be proud.
Speaking of: Deadpool vs Punisher.
Immortal Criminal vs Mortal Punisher.
Both have military training and lots of weapons at their disposal.
Who would win?
7789711 Depends on the writer. Normally Deadpool would win, but Punisher managed to kill Wolverine by shocking all of his cells at once in a comic "Punisher VS Marvel", I think? Not sure...
7790072
Whaaaat? How? Wolverine has an adamantium skeleton that his cells regenerate from!
7790085 In some instances it is said that his adamantium skeleton INHIBITS his healing factor. From THIS point is my thoughts, it's not canon. As in, metal is not a part of "original" Wolverine, and since factor cannot change the metal, it constantly works only half power for actual flesh regen. OR the metal coated the bones, and if he's flesh is destroied his factor is locked IN his bones. How he regenerated from his skeleton after a nuclear(?) bomb - I don't know. There's little continuity between different writers and comic characters.
Also, metal CONDUCTS electisity, so if done right he might be killed by an electric shock... Magneto can hold Wolverine by his skeleton, so most likely adamantium does suffer from eletric attacks.
7789073 Preach it....
7790101
I think I blacked out halfway through your explanation, so I got a bit confused.
Butt I get what you're sayin'. What you're super sayin'.
7788723
Ah, thank you! Glad to know that you’re enjoying it so. Frank seems normal for the most part, it’s just that the first chapter painted him as one of his nastier variants as opposed to what’s later shown being a softer and it’s something of an inconsistency given the brutally he displayed earlier. I can see why a person would find his inclusion interesting, I started out liking it as well. It was when he managed to threaten Frank Castle (with death, even, as opposed to a beating) and yet didn’t suffer the same treatment RD received that I grew concerned with how he was being written.
I can see it happening; Fluttershy being terrified to the point where she refuses to say one word to Castle only to end up standing up him when he’s at his worst seems like a natural course for her.
No worries. Nothing that couldn’t be talked out. Besides, I could’ve phrased it so it seemed less snide. Oh well, live and learn. I’ll just have to keep in mind to alter up my style next time I find myself reviewing something or other.
Until then!
7786992
That was one of my favorite scenes in that movie. And given how he says "science is fun", it would've been a great gag in MLP, given how Twilight too loves science.
Yeah. I can sympathize with Frank on that. No need to traumatize a kid by watching a person die.
And it looks like the ambassadors have no choice but to let the Punisher fight along. This is going to be fun.
either "among Tirek's followers"
or "by Tirek"
